I don't know the ratios across all the national polls, but Trump is currently at over 40% support for registered Republicans in some of them. Unbelievable.
Cruz has bumped him from the lead in Iowa though, which predictably resulted in Trump attacking Cruz for the first time last week. He was still saying how much he liked Cruz, but he lamented about how Cruz couldn't really understand evangelicals, his parents being Cuban and all. That logic makes no sense given there are plenty of Christians in Cuba and Cruz's father was a pastor or minister or something like that. But hey...
It would actually make more sense for Trump to do what he did with Obama and open up the birther box again. Cruz was born in Canada after all. His eligibility for U.S. President is questionable to some. But, it seems that most scholars believe he's okay because his mother had become a U.S. citizen before she gave birth to him in Canada. Cruz's campaign is smart. I agree with Adub that he's a strategist. He hasn't publicly criticized Trump or hit back at him. I think Cruz expects that both Trump and Carson will fall by the wayside and he's positioning himself as the real evangelical conservative and outsider. Only he's not an outsider; he's been working the political machine for decades, he's just pissed off a lot of politicians in the process. But hey...
