Former Israeli President Shimon Peres died following a stroke on Wednesday. He was 93.
I wish he'd seen his dream of lasting peaceful co-existent between Israel and Palestine recognized in his lifetime.
Mr. Peres was key to establishing the post-war Israeli state and later signed the Palestinian peace deal.
Shimon Peres was awarded the Nobel peace prize in 1994 with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat for signing the Oslo Accord in the hope a two-state solution would bring peace to the region.
He is remembered as a politician, a statesman, a family man, a humanitarian, a visionary, and the man who helped negotiate the long-lasting alliance between the U.S. and Israel.
His funeral was held today. Current and former leaders from all over the world were in attendance, including Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Even Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas also was in attendance - his first visit to Israel since 2010.
Rest in peace Shimon Peres.
