ANOTHER SCHOOL/PUBLIC SHOOTING
[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTp81HHP-fYYGer7tUm3UY...qYozZV1s00]

I was responding to this, note how they conveniently left out Mexico.

Derp Biggie.

Yeah, they left out 187 other countries too (most of which prohibit or severely limit civilian gun-ownership; Mexico doesn't fit that bill).

Do you see how you're totally contradicting your own point/agenda?

It would obviously make no sense to put Mexico on a list of countries with low gun homicide rates as compared to the U.S. The point of the meme is to contrast the high gun violence rates in the U.S. with the low gun violence rates in countries with stricter/better gun controls.

However, if you replaced "The United States" with "Mexico" (two of three countries that guarantee the right to bear arms and have high gun homicide rates) and translated the text in Crash's meme into Spanish........you'd have an equally suitable meme to promote stronger gun control in Mexico.

Get it?

Now you're getting a capitalized DERP.

I didn't say they weren't and that wasn't implied nor mentioned in the meme or our discussion thus far. It's irrelevant.

Neither I nor anyone else here is arguing against better enforcement of existing laws (in the U.S., Mexico, or anywhere else) when supporting some new laws to better ensure public safety.

Some of those proposed new laws, in fact, simply give law enforcement the authority to better enforce existing laws. Unwillingness or inability to enforce existing gun laws fully is a problem in both the U.S. and Mexico. However, it doesn't mean that existing gun laws aren't sometimes enforced and useful in gun violence prevention in both countries.

Guess how many times I've read posts by anti gun-control advocates like you and several others here contending that only law-abiding U.S. citizens would be negatively impacted by new gun laws because criminals just get them illegally anyway? 5,000 would be a conservative guess. So, you're just saying the same U.S. rhetoric can be applied to Mexico.

Guess how many of the guns used to commit crimes in countries where guns are prohibited were illegally owned? 'Every damn one of them' would be the obvious correct answer. That doesn't mean that those countries don't have significantly lower gun violence rates than countries with comparatively lax gun laws.

Guess how often guns used to commit crimes in U.S. states with comparatively strict gun laws were brought in from states with laxer gun laws? 'A whole fuckin lot' would be a reasonable response.

Do you get yet that the U.S. and Mexico face similar challenges and experience similar rates of high gun violence for many of the same reasons (and how that does not support your original point and agenda)?

Florida, again

Thursday was the 19th anniversary of the Columbine mass shooting and a day where student walk outs took place across the country.

The planned walk out at Forest High School in Oscala did not go down however.

Instead, the two thousand students and faculty were responding to a code red, barricading classroom doors, and hiding in closets.

That's because 19-year-old former student ^ Sky Bouche snuck a shotgun into the school in a guitar case and started shooting at classrooms. He was reportedly obsessed with Columbine.

Fortunately, at least according to initial reports from police, school resource officer Deputy James Long (pictured above) heard the gunshots and ran directly toward Bouche. He reportedly managed to arrest the shooter without incident within 3 minutes.

Officers cleared the classrooms and students were evacuated with their hands up; they were met by their panicked parents.

Bouche was placed in a hazmat suit to protect any evidence on his person and taken to jail. He told reporters at the scene that he was sorry and he just shot through a door but "it doesn't matter anyway".

One student was injured, but the injury is not life-threatening.

Nashville

James Shaw Jr., 29, ^ is the hero of the day. He tackled and wrestled the semi-automatic rifle away from a near-naked man who killed four people at a Nashville-are Waffle House early this morning.

The gunman ^ has been identified as Travis Reinking. He was wearing only a jacket when he shot one customer who was entering the restaurant, then shot at people through the windows, then entered the Waffle House and kept shooting.

Shaw tackled Reinking and managed to knock the gun out of his hands. That's when Reinking took off running into nearby woods.

Reinking is still on the loose and a manhunt is underway.

Crazy fucking shit.

Well, unsurprisingly, the Nashville Waffle House shooter had a history of disturbing incidents.

Metro Nashville Police say the suspect in Sunday morning's shooting at the Waffle House had his guns confiscated last year after being caught inside a restricted area at the White House.

Law enforcement in Tazewell County, Ill., confiscated four guns at the time but returned them to his father. His father admits that he recently gave them back to Reinking.

Law enforcement confirmed that Reinking used an AR-15 rifle to kill four people and wound two others at the Waffle House this morning.

Reinking recently relocated from Illinois to Tennessee where he was working construction. It's unknown if he had any connection to the four people he killed today.

Travis Reinking, 29, is still at large, and police warn that he still may have two guns in his possession. Police believe he fled on foot and remains shirtless but is now wearing pants.

The Nashville Waffle House shooter is still on the loose and the emerging story of his background makes the shooting even more frustrating.

In 2016, his family called police because Travis Reinking was delusional and believed that Taylor Swift was stalking him by hacking into his Netflix account. He also claimed that Swift was following him and arranged to meet him at the Dairy Queen.

But, he said he had to chase her to a rooftop (where she disappeared) when he got there because she yelled at him from across the street and ran off. He was taken for mental evaluation against his will, but apparently was able to keep his guns in Illinois and was not flagged in NICS.

In 2017, Reinking was arrested in DC for trying to infiltrate the White House to get to President Trump as a 'sovereign citizen'. He was given community service, his guns were confiscated and turned over to his father by Illinois LE, and the charges were dropped after he completed a diversion program. His father recently returned the guns to Reinking.

His father has some explaining to do. Why did he return the guns, one of which (AR-15) was used to kill four people, to his obviously very disturbed son?

Nashville Waffle House Shooter Apprehended

Earlier today, construction workers told officers they spotted a person matching the suspect's description walking through a wooded area near their site.

Police responded and arrested Travis Reinking. Reinking was carrying a black backpack that held a silver semi-automatic weapon and .45-caliber ammunition.

Police spokesman Don Aaron said Reinking requested a lawyer, was taken to a hospital and would later be booked on four counts of criminal homicide.

A federal official says the father of the man suspected of fatally shooting four at a Nashville Waffle House could face charges for returning guns that were taken from him after an incident last year at the White House.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Special Agent Marcus Watson said at a news conference Monday that Jeffrey Reinking's act of returning the guns to his son is "potentially a violation of federal law."

Suspect Travis Reinking pulled up to the eatery in his pickup truck and waited several minutes before fatally shooting Taurean Sanderlin -29, a Waffle House employee, who was outside the restaurant.

He then gunned down 20-year-old Joe Perez, a beloved brother and son, with his AR-15 rifle outside the restaurant.

Inside, he shot and killed 21-year-old DeEbony Groves, a senior majoring in social work at Belmont University, and 23-year-old Akilah Dasilva, a student pursuing a career in musical engineering at Middle Tennessee State University.

Another senseless loss of young lives. Rest in Peace.

Two other shooting vicitims remain hospitalized, one is reportedly in stable condition and the other is in critical condition.

HotD, the judge gave him bond, he killed four people but if he can come up with the money he can get out of jail. How does this happen?

It's state law in Tennessee that all defendants, except those charged with capital (death penalty) crimes, are entitled to bond.

Reinking may well end up facing the death penalty, but it's too early for prosecutors to make that determination now.

I understand the bond was set at $2million; Reinking would need to come up with $200,000 to qualify for release.

However, even if he did somehow manage to get someone to fork over that much money and be responsible for his release...........I think the prosecution would simply use more evidence to compel the judge to raise the bond even higher.

I don't think there's any chance that Reinking is going anywhere, but understand why people are outraged that it's even a possibility.

The word hero gets thrown around a lot these days but that man is a true hero. He risked his life to save others. If it wasn't for him many more would have died.

A journalist started a GoFundMe account for him, it will pay for his daughter's education. The goal is $60 grand. In 12 hours time $57,661 has been raised.

Yeah, I agree.

You can tell from his interviews that James Shaw is still very shaken up by what he saw and went through at the Waffle House, very understandably.

And, he's honest about the fact that he was just focused on stopping the shooter so he could live -- it all happened so fast. Then, he started focusing on others.

He doesn't consider himself a hero, but James Shaw definitely saved lives with his heroic actions.

When he saw an opportunity to tackle Reinking, he took it and scuffled with the gunman for a minute or two before getting the AR15 away, holding it up in the air, and throwing it as far as he could away from Reinking (who then took off running), he said.

I read that Shaw's visited the victims in the hospital, raised money for them, and ^ spoke at a victims' vigil today with his 4-year-old daughter. She's a cutie.

His hand is burned from grabbing the barrel of the gun. So brave. I can't even really imagine being in that situation. I'm afraid I would be frozen in fear.
