The man who stabbed Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter 25 times dodged a murder conviction.

He was convicted of the lesser 'manslaughter' charge and faces a max of 25 years. The judge handed down the decision today in NYC. Lamar Davenport, 30, killed E'Dena Hines back in August 2015 outside of the couple's NYC apartment.

His lawyer argued Davenport was high on PCP when he repeatedly stabbed Hines while screaming, "I love you. I always loved you. God would have wanted this." Davenport told cops that Jesus was telling him to do it.

The judge agreed Davenport wasn't acting with malice because he was too messed up on drugs.

I don't think I'm down with people getting a lesser sentence because they are fucked up on drugs or alcohol. It doesn't seem right.

It bothers me too.

It's not like the killer was clinically/medically mentally ill through no choice of his own. Instead, he chose to take PCP which presumably led to his murderous psychosis.

Anyway, I hope Davenport gets the maximum of 25 years. Even if he gets the max and serves the full sentence, he'll only be 55-years-old when he's released back into society.
