It must suck to be a cop there. You have to stand there and take all the taunts and threats hurled at you as you stand there. It seems the cops were there not for security but to be whipped and flogged in the town square with a smile. I cannot for the life of me think of one good reason to be a cop in Ferguson.

Again, for me, Michael Brown (of all the people gunned down by cops in the last year), garners the least amount of sympathy.

I still believe the officers account that Brown charged him and I feel the shooting was warranted.

Yet, Ferguson continues to be a hell hole where blacks are unfairly treated and downright persecuted?

I'm not buying it.

I believe it's true. I'd go even further to say I believe cops hassle blacks across America.

There was a time I believed all cops were honorable given their chosen profession, I haven't felt that way in a long time though.

Dirty cops are all over the place. A good example can be found in the Johnny & Lisa thread.

Did anyone see the protesters inches from a few cops faces screaming shit at them as they stood there staring straight forward? It kinda scraped me the wrong way.

I'm no expert, but that looks like a hand gun to me.

I haven't seen the pix yet but I probably would have felt the same way.

Tyrone Harris is the 18-year-old who was shot in Monday's protest; he's in critical condition.

Shortly after the shooting, his family claimed that he was a good kid who was just running from the gunfire that broke out, like everyone else. Harris's father said his son did not have a gun. 'He was running for his ... life because someone was shooting at him,' Tyrone Harris, Sr. said in a telephone interview from his St. Louis-area home before the video was released.

Well, dad's either lying or completely naive when it comes to junior.

^ Here's junior's Facebook profile photo. He goes by the name of " TY Glocks" and talks about his crew, the "Pistol Gang".

I don't know if Michael Brown was shot in self defense, but I do not believe that he was an innocent martyr.

And, I have no problem believing that Glocks is fighting for his life because he is a violent dumbass who opened fire on police officers.

Glocks was trying to sell a stolen TV to a pawn shop moments before undercover cops arrived in an unmarked car which was what caught Golcks' bullets in the windshield.

RE: Ferguson & St. Louis, MO -- Deaths and Protests

With the businesses that were raped and the violence that goes on in that section of the city I have no hopes for anything good coming out. The cops that patrol will end up being rookies that need a job and may go in with a healthy outlook but the community spirit that the protesters try to embody may be overwhelmed by the gang violence that will certainly be emboldened by the righteous condemnation and vilification of the peacekeepers.
Its a mess and can only get worse as more businesses leave for better stomping grounds. The tax base will drop and any homeowners will see devastation in their accumulated equity. Real estate values will drop and schools if not already affected will produce more resentment.
As soon as the government starts messing around with the situation ( which will be a day late and a dollar short) we will see some real idiocracy. What needs to happen is the thugs and the bad cops both need to be purged. But in our litigious society it will take more time than Ferguson has.

I made this point quite a few pages back. The protesting has ruined any chance of recovery.

RE: Ferguson & St. Louis, MO -- Deaths and Protests

Results of the "Ferguson effect"

Baltimore police stop arresting people

BALTIMORE – Just before a wave of violence turned Baltimore into the nation’s deadliest big city, a curious thing happened to its police force: officers suddenly seemed to stop noticing crime. Police officers reported seeing fewer drug dealers on street corners. They encountered fewer people who had open arrest warrants. Police questioned fewer people on the street. They stopped fewer cars. In the space of just a few days in spring 2015 – as Baltimore faced a wave of rioting after Freddie Gray, a black man, died from injuries he suffered in the back of a police van – officers in nearly every part of the city appeared to turn a blind eye to everyday violations.

It is inevitable.
