This is the first time I've seen LE confirm any details of their investigation:

So apparently it was only one man that was arrested. He is a person of interest only at this time. His name is Jose, he is an electrician, he has many children and is the owner of the home that is being searched at this moment. On the live news feed they were digging a big hole in the back yard. Was also stated that that road is completely closed ff and is a crime scene.

Live feed has stopped. They brought out a,black case which I'm assuming is a forensic case, then shortly after that used a blue bucket...looked like they were digging with it...then they pulled a tarp over the hole.

thanks for the links, wildflower: there was mention of a lot of people living in this house, could it be a house full of undocumented people?
Interesting that Tina was to deliver something from a computer to her boss. Maybe the couple knew too much.....but then that was found in her purse (in her home).....

Last I read tonight, they were taking photographs in the hole. They have now moved a backhoe and other vehicles into the area to block the view to the hole. Lots of interesting speculation going on...everything to drug debt to cartel ties. I have yet to read any commentary from anyone that knows the family or the man in custody. They are saying he is,just a,person of interest and has not been arrested. They just brought him in for questioning. No word that I can find as to his whereabouts now...if he's still with the police or if hes been released. Hopefully we'll get an update and fresh news in the morning.

Bodies Found



Authorities have found the bodies of a man and a woman believed to be a missing Pinal County couple.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said early Thursday morning that the bodies believed to be Mike and Tina Careccia were found during a search of a property near Ralston and Papago roads in Maricopa, not far from where the couple's car was found last week.

The bodies were taken to the Pinal County Medical Examiner's Office.

One male suspect who lives at the property is in custody. He has been identified as Jose Valenzuela. He has been name a POI and has not been charged with anything thus far.

Some family members who spoke to media yesterday indicated that they knew Valenzuela and he'd been at a Father's Day celebration with them the day before the couple was reported missing.

LE has not made any statements about what led them to Valenzuela's property or possible motives.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at the house Wednesday afternoon and detained a "person of interest." Investigators could be seen digging in the backyard Wednesday night.

I'd hoped they'd pulled a runner; this is the worst possible ending. How and why did this happen? I hope we learn more on that soon.

Sheriff Paul Babeu has released an update on the missing persons case of Mike and Tina Careccia.
July 2, 2015. 2:30 a.m.
“Our search of the property on West Papago Road has led to the recovery of two bodies, a man and women that we believe to be Mike and Tina Careccia. As well, we have one male suspected in custody who lives at the property being searched. Family members of the Careccia's have just been notified of the recovery and arrest. Our investigators and staff continue to carefully gather evidence that we believe will prove critical to our investigation and result in a stronger criminal case.”

I saw a piece this morning where Tina's brother commented that the deaths were possibly a result of a drug deal gone bad.

I don't believe the specific charges against Valenzuela have been announced yet.
