Yes! Particularly so given where you live! This shit matters. If not for yourself, do it for your kids. Are you registered to vote? If not, do so. I think you can do it online.

I am a registered independent (although I consider myself Democrat) and I have never missed a chance to get one of those I Voted stickers.

I think MS should predict who will win.

Today, Barrack Obama received an ethics award and gave a speech to the students and staff at Illinois University.  He's set to hit the mid-term campaign trail for the Dems.

In the speech, Obama described the problems with today's politics, gave brief examples of how it's come up in our nation's past (fueled by both sides of the aisle), criticized the Congress for failing in its duty to check the Executive, described President Trump as "the symptom, not the cause" of the extreme partisan divide we're now living under, took credit for accomplishing economic recovery and growth during his terms, etc...

He then compelled the audience to do the one thing that can help fix the problems we're experiencing now and check the Executive branch  -- VOTE in the midterms.

Here are some clips from what I thought was a very good speech:

One risk to having Obama be front and center for the Dems, in my opinion: his mere existence riles up the extreme right like nobody's business and may motivate more of them to vote. I'm sure FOX will be pushing the anti-Obama rhetoric even more than usual with that in mind.

However, the extremists on both sides seem to be the loudest and most committed anyway, so perhaps that risk is overstated.

Anyway, there are way more registered Democrats and Independents than there are Republicans and Trump-loyalists. So, if Obama is equally or more inspiring to everyone else who hears him, it should be an advantage for House Democrats. I hope it works out that way; I really want to see more balance and accountability in the U.S. Congress after November.

Most republicans are more involved in this election once the true face of the democrat party has been shown to be more socialistic and more violent. If the Massachusetts primaries are any indication quite a few from both sides are voting. It was a good turnout. My primary is Tuesday next week.  More Trump endorsements are winning than Obama endorsements were at the same level a few years ago. It seems to be helping not hurting their chances.

Who was it that said "It's the economy stupid!"

Given your concern about violence, how come you never have anything to say about the violence trump promotes?

This is a tiny fraction of it.

trump is a man who can't even bring himself to say Nazi's are bad people.

It's sometimes unnerving to see this blind streak that you have where this person is concerned.

Every single time that The President has suggested a defense against leftist violence it is a response to an action performed by a leftist protester committing some form of violence. He does not stand for letting them perform their acts of hatred. He does punch back twice as bad but only in retaliation. Never starting a fight but finishing it. There is a difference.

Of course he does, what exactly are you talking about.
Just over a year ago, there was a rally. It was in Charlottesville. On one side there were a lot a Neo-NazIs and white Supremacist types (bad people) AND there were also people who did not want statues torn down and moved and the like (good people). On the other side there were Agitators like Antifa and BLM (bad people) and people who were protesting the statues as being tied by history to slavery and the like (good people).

The protest rally had voilence on both sides which ended up with a number of people hurt and one person killed after a mentally ill white supremacist drove his car into the crowd.

Trump when he made his speech notes how there were good people on both sides. Everyone went into hysterics saying he was calling Nazis good people, which was fuckingridiculous. Eventually and under huge pressure he had to spell out that he absolutely condemns Nazis. This was "too late" for those that pushed him to say it. But by your comment some folk refuse to even acknowledge it.

As I repeatedly tell people in here, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. I don't have to like it, nor agree with it. I want to be very clear on that so there is no misunderstanding. Having said that, it's my opinion that trump is a racist piece of shit who doesn't deserve the air he breathes. At this point, there is nothing he could possibly do to change my opinion on that. He doesn't try to hide it which is more than I can say about many of those who support him and his ridiculous crap.

When trump said there are good people on both sides he was saying those fuckin' Nazis are good people. Those same people walked through the streets with torches shouting blood & soil, or whatever the hell it was. What do you think would have happened here if blacks had done that? There is no moral equivalency here, none whatsoever but again, you're entitled to your opinion.

Just so everyone knows I do not consider any Mock members to be crazy nuthouse Dems or liberals. There are some that truly hate Trump and that is a personality thing as is their right. Some cannot stand Obama and flinch whenever he speaks out the side of his mouth. So what? What is discussed here will never change those feelings and nobody will ever be "converted" It is fun to bicker sometimes and It's not a personal matter. I would still give everyone here a big hug if I ever meet them.

But he isn't saying that and there were good people on both sides and Neo Nazis are not good people. He has denounced Neo Nazis as bad people.
If he is racist and i think his relationship decades ago with Jackson ans Sharpton, his putting up Jennifer Hudson, his long friendship with Lyn Patton and such fly in the face of this, but if he is a racist degenerate, it appears he doesnt find common interest with Neo Nazis
