An FBI SWAT team stormed an Eastside home this afternoon looking for the killer of an Athens-Clarke County police officer, but they came up empty.
The team of heavily armed special agents threw stun grenades into a home on Murrell Road shortly after 1:30 p.m. then entered, believing 33-year-old Jamie Hood might be inside, officials said.
“When you have someone who calls the command post and says, ‘I’ve known Jamie Hood all my life and I saw him at this spot,’ we need to validate the report,” Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Vernon Keenan said.
Authorities obtained a search warrant before the SWAT team entered the home, a block away from where Hood’s parents live on Ranick Road, off Spring Valley Road.
