ROUND ROCK, Texas - A Texas sheriff's deputy was shot and killed at his home north of Austin before dawn on Monday in what authorities said appeared to be an attempted robbery.
CBS affiliate KEYE-TV reports officials say the incident does not appear to be an ambush.
Update:
Turns out that Officer Hutchinson was shot to death with his own service weapon.
I hope this isn't another case of a police officer setting up his suicide to look like a murder and sending police on a wild goose chase.
Authorities are still investigating and say it's possible someone else shot Hutchinson with his service weapon.

^ Conclusion:
Officer Hutchinson did commit suicide and tried to frame it as a murder, as several officers before him have done (presumably to, at least in part, help their families get full pension and charity benefits).
