Tornadoes
Only on the coastal areas. Oregon is in more danger from a megaquake based on the way the fault lines are arrayed. Cali's quakes are more frequent but less likely to go above 7.5 or so. But hey: life's a crapshoot, and ya gotta go from something.

ETA: jumped a couple posts in this reply. The Pacific ocean will make whatever coastline it touches gorgeous and the climate cannot be beaten. So I'd bet the property value and natural beauty will be just fine.

Yeah if you're a reptile, I'm a mammal, warm blooded and fully equipped to deal with bracing winds and changing seasons.

Do you live your life everyday like the fucking sky is falling, chicken little?
Rebuilding a house for the third time from tornado damage is stupid, and people should probably move elsewhere.
There hasn't been a big enough earthquake to even write home about in almost 25 years. Of course the "big one" is going to happen sooner or later, that could happen tomorrow or 200 years from now.
I'd give away 10 years of my life to live on the pacific coastline compared to driving past these boring fucking corn and wheat fields everyday in a heartbeat.

Californians are living on the scarred open wound of the Earths crust one day it will crack and suck them down into it.

This is so fucked up :(

A 5-year-old tornado survivor was killed by the dog of a family friend whose house he had been staying at following the devastating May 20 storm in Moore, Okla.

The boy, whose name has not been released, died Sunday after he was attacked by a 150-pound Bullmastiff at a home in Jessieville, Ark. The attack occurred after the child had been crying in the home, according to NBC affiliate KARK.

"The child was putting on some shoes and was crying and upset," Garland County Deputy Scott Hinojosa told the station. "The dog possibly took that as being aggressive and at that time the child was attacked."

While a woman was calming the boy down, the dog came in from another room and lunged at him, according to KTHV. The woman tried to separate the two but was unsuccessful, so she called her husband for help. By the time he arrived, she had gotten them apart. The man then rushed the child to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

KATV reports the boy acted out against the female owner. The dog likely saw this as a threat and moved to protect its master.

The dog ran away from the home following the incident, but police later told KTHV that it was captured on Monday and was put down.

Sounds like a pathetic excuse to me to try and justify having cujo as a fucking pet.

DANGEROUS WEATHER TOMORROW!

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded us to a "Moderate Risk" of severe weather tomorrow. This is a strong statement, and one we rarely see in our area.

I think violent thunderstorms are likely and our entire area will see storms with gusty winds, hail, and the capability of producing tornadoes. These storms will be possible Wednesday morning, afternoon, evening, and night.

Be prepared and be safe!

^^^This is what my weather man just told me.

Come on back to Indiana User and have some fun.

I saw that predicted earlier today & immediately thought of you. The person reading it must have said Indiana a good half dozen times in a segment that only lasted a very few minutes.

I haven't watched the weather channel yet.

The local guy is comparing this to the storm last june. I call it my birthday storm. If memories serves, I think that monster tore up a half the country.

Straight line winds.

I like to watch a good storm roll in, but that one had me nervous.
Probably because I waited till the last possible second to renew my licence and was stuck in the fucking BMV instead of home in my basement.

I've never seen a storm like that before and for a split second or three, I thought I was gonna die in one of the places I hate the most.

I'll have to drive. Fuck if I'm going to be on an airplane flying in to that. 50

I'm a fair weather flyer. I'd probably cancel a trip before getting on a plane where there was a good chance we'd hit really nasty weather. No no.

I don't blame you. We flew thru a cold front on our way back from vacation last year and I thought that was the final countdown.

I think I told the tale somewhere on here.

They are the scariest thing ever, worse than the tornadoes that have gone by & worse than the hurricanes too. We had them last year, it must have been the end of June or very early July. I never want to do that again.
