Presidential race 2016

Yep, she's reading right from the class warfare playbook. As if she is one of the downtrodden people... Ha!

And droning on and on about hedge funds this and that. Oh by the way, her son-in-laws occupation: hedge funder.

Because of where my news comes from I get to see him in action frequently and like you, I used to view him more favorably, but I still do like him. He's a tough cookie and I love the way he shuts people down (hecklers, those too stupid to leave when Sandy is coming, etc.). I feel that for the most part he's a straight shooter so he's someone I would take the time to listen to. I can't say the same for a few others. I don't take Rand Paul or Ted Cruz seriously so I won't be wasting my time on them.

Actually, I was mistaken. He hasn't formally decided to run. Apologies.

Today's speech, given in New Hampshire, sure looks like a campaign launch to me.

I checked -- Christie confirmed to reporters yesterday that he wasn't ready to run in 2012 but he's ready to run in 2016. However, he also said that if he does run, he won't announce til May or June.

So, he's either testing the waters in New Hampshire or he's all-in but has strategic reasons for holding off on formally launching.

Sorry for the misreporting.

He's kind of screwed in that regard.

I didn't realize I was that transparent...hah

I'm not a die hard republican. I've voted democrat before. I think there's just as many whack-jobs on the right as the left.

I guess if 20 yrs of scandals, lies and the fact she's a thief doesn't bother anyone, people should feel good about giving her a vote.

Duchess, I think you're forgetting who Christ Christie is:

No worries HotD, i just saw part of that speech actually. He may not have announced, but it sure does sound like he will be running.

Entitlement reform by means testing those off of social security who already have $200K in investment income? That is a tremendously small percentage of retirees, and certainly won't put a dent in fixing the problem. When he gets around to running I'd like to see the rest of the ideas.

If Christie does decide to run, it appears that he'll be attempting to use that bluntness as an asset to draw voters his way.

His speech at New Hampshire's Saint Anselm College was billed as part of a "Tell it like it is" tour of the state.

Here's a bit from his speech:
"I will not pander. I will not flip-flop. And I'm not afraid to tell you the truth as I see it, whether you like it or not. We need to recognize that solving our biggest problems, like the growth of entitlements, can be done but only with real leadership that tells people the truth. We need to tell the truth to the very people that some of us aspire to lead."

That's exactly what it is...class warfare and it's a BIG turn-off for me. Just keep taking more from the 1% instead of looking for ways to intelligently trim the budget.

I am going to be looking long and hard at the Republican candidates this go around.

I actually don't see you as a staunch Republican but if it walks, talks even a LITTLE bit like Obama...I can't see you checking that box!!

I would guess you're probably pretty moderate on the social issues (gay marriage etc.). Probably sort of live and let live on things like that. Errrr, right?

I'm certain that there are staunch feminists who would vote for Hillary because she's a female. Some of them might cross party lines to do it. But, I agree that the majority of that potential group of party-jumping female voters would likely be moderate Republicans; feminists whose staunch commitment to female empowerment outweighs their level of dedication to the GOP.

If Clinton wins the White House, it will be interesting to have a woman holding arguably the most powerful position in the world when the glass ceiling and gender-based pay disparities still persist in this country. I wonder how much progress she'd be able to make on those fronts; Obama hasn't had great success there, IMO.

I've meet about 5-6 women that hate Hillary. They
relate her to Obama and hate that she is more political celebrity than any substance.

That didn't bother me in the least. It wasn't the stupidest bullshit I've ever seen but it ranked up there. I don't care what team he is a fan of. Also, I don't have that kind of hate for the Cowboys. I save it all for those filthy NY Giants.

I know a lot of men and women who are very pro-Hillary, but I don't know if they relate her to Obama or not. I'm not a Hillary fan myself. However, I'm not a Hillary hater either.

Other than both of them being Democrats, I don't relate Obama and Hillary to each other. To me, they have very separate styles, positions, and identities.

As usual, I wish there were a candidate who was rather left-leaning in regards to social issues + rather right-leaning in regards to budgeting, governmental efficiency, and private business autonomy + very savvy and strategic when it comes to foreign policy and diplomacy.

Maybe Hillary Clinton comes the closest to meeting my wish list? I know that she has more political experience than all of the other candidates (which, in her case, is both a plus and a minus for me). But, all I know from her campaign announcement is that she wants me to believe she's "one of us", she wants average Americans to be more economically secure, and she's cool with people of all ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations. I'm anxious to hear the details as to how she plans to accomplish her economy-improving promises. Plus, I'm very interested in hearing her foreign policy agenda and road map.

I just watched some of that interview and all I heard her say was that there is a problem when a nurse or a truck driver pays more in taxes than a hedge fund manager. Is there more to interview that I missed? The droning on & on?

She was sitting with kids at some community college when I saw her, wasn't really an interview. I think they billed it as a campaign stop.
