POLITICAL CRACK UPS
#1
So, the US watched DC Mayor Marion Berry get busted for using crack cocaine. And, he made a comeback.

Then, we watched Senator Barney Frank get busted in an airport bathroom seeking crack of a different variety. 37

Now, it's Canada's turn. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford (pictured below) has been caught on vid smoking crack and admitting to smoking crack, reportedly.

But, he's not planning to step down because he's got a good excuse for it!

His excuse: he's not an addict and those things probably happened during one of his drunken stupors.

Gotta love these guys.

Ford expects to be re-elected next October. Hell, stranger things have happened.

Took him long enough. If it's the same guy, and I think it is, I first heard about his druggy ways several months ago.

He has no addiction? And that matters why? Does that make what he's doing less wrong? Less illegal?

So being drunk is his excuse and get out clause? Whenever I have a drink I have never thought to myself “hmmm a perfect end to this evening is a cheeky little hit from the crack pipe!”

Maybe our own “the kid” is hooking him up?

Ford is comedy gold for the political satirists.

He is a complete asshole. A stupid and reckless one.

Scary that's he still running a major city; he seems like someone who is going to have a complete blow-up or meltdown at any time.

Here's the latest video just released to the public. In another drunken stupor, he describes how he wants to murder someone (the object of his scorn is not named).

Ford's reaction: again, he's sorry, he was "very very inebriated".

They tried to make me go to rehab...

After the video of Ford describing the details of how he wishes to murder his unidentified nemesis was released, Ford's lawyer made a statement that he "might be considering rehab".

Ford hasn't been charged with a crime and municipal law in Toronto has no stipulation for the forced removal of a mayor from office, unless he was convicted and jailed for a criminal offense.

He still says he wasn't lying when he denied the crack allegations; he just didn't remember due to his stupors.

Actual quote ^ - haha.

Ford's kinda pulling a Weiner here; refusing to pull out, despite mounting pressure. Amazingly, though, Ford reportedly still has a decent amount of support in the city.

His family sounds as dysfunctional and enabling as most - I think they should encourage him to give substance rehab a try, but apparently that's not how they roll.

His sister, Kathy Ford, told the Canadian TV station CP24 that her brother doesn't have a drinking problem unless"you want to consider binge drinking once every three months" a problem. "Robbie does not drink every night," she said.

His mother, Diane Ford, said her son's big issue is food — not drugs. “He’s got a huge weight problem and I think that is the first thing he has to attack because that will change your whole demeanor,” she said. The old, "Cheetohs made him do it" excuse...

It's official, Ford is Toronto's Weiner. He's not gonna step down of his own free will and he ain't going to rehab either.

He's on the predictable redemption + pubic apology (sorta) PR tour and appeared on the Today Show

Snip:
Speaking with "Today" show anchor Matt Lauer after a dramatic city council session in which the mayor was stripped of many of his powers, Ford said that he doesn't plan on going anywhere.

"We've all made mistakes, Matt," Ford said in a prickly exchange broadcast Tuesday morning. "I'm not perfect. Maybe you are. Maybe other people are. I've made mistakes -- I admitted to my mistakes."

Ford admitted earlier this month to having smoked crack cocaine sometime during the past few years while he was "extremely inebriated." He also admitted to purchasing illegal drugs.

The mayor bristled when Lauer asked what he would do if there was a major emergency in the city of Toronto while Ford was on one of his 'binges.' He dodged the question, throwing it back on Lauer. "That could happen with anybody at any time. Say you had gone out drinking and you were drunk and something happened to your family --" Smiley_emoticons_skeptisch

"The lives of a million people don't rest on my decisions," Lauer interjected.

Ford also told Lauer that he isn't seeking any kind of alcohol or drug treatment program.

Well, somebody cracked at politician Creigh Deeds' house this morning. He's a Virgina Senator (Democrat) with strong NRA support.

Deeds was stabbed inside his home and is in critical condition.

His son Gus (pictured below, left) was found shot and died shortly thereafter.

Police say they aren't searching for a suspect. So, it's likely that either Deeds shot his son or his son shot himself after attacking his dad. News sources are speculating the latter.

Story developing as investigation continues.

Untreated mental illness strikes again

Gus Deeds was a banjo and guitar player, the Valedictorian of his high school, and a student at William & Mary til about a month ago. It's not been released as to what sort of psychiatric issues he was experiencing.

Snip:
Senator Deeds was listed in fair condition late Tuesday after his son, Austin, stabbed him in the face and chest, then shot himself in what investigators described as an apparent attempted murder and suicide.

The day before he apparently stabbed his father at the family’s home in rural Bath County, the son of Virginia state Sen. R. Creigh Deeds (D) underwent a psychiatric evaluation but was not admitted to a hospital, because no bed was available.

Rockbridge officials had called hospitals in the area looking for a spot but were unable to find one, Bergeron said. “I can tell you right now, it was multiple hospitals that they called,” she said. “That is a very rural area. The hospitals are few and far between.”

Bergeron said local hospitals have been reducing and in some cases eliminating psychiatric wards, making it more difficult to find spots for people requiring involuntary detention, particularly in more rural parts of the state.

Florida Representative, Trey Radel - a freshman Congressman

Well, like Rob Ford from Toronto, Florida Tea Party Rep Trey Radel says he's sorry he was busted buying/using cocaine.

And, like Ford, he attributed the blame to his alcohol addiction.

Unlike Ford, Radel's been charged with a crime and he says he'll be going to rehab. He will appear tomorrow in District of Columbia Superior Court to face a misdemeanor charge for "unlawfully, knowingly and intentionally" possessing "a quantity of cocaine."

The charge carries a maximum of 180 days in prison and/or a fine of $1,000, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

Maybe the answer to those of us who frequently ask, "are they high?!" in relation to Congress's actions, is a literal "yes!". We sure do elect a lot of alcoholics and substance abusers into office.

Yeah lol!

Using books written by a Mormon conspiracy theorist who bursts into tears at the drop of a hat for “reference”! Reference for what? Right wing conspiracy ramblings?

Jesus Christ.
