ANOTHER SCHOOL/PUBLIC SHOOTING
#41
This is a weird one.

Appears authorities still don't know why the unnamed Northern Californian charged into the medical center with a 12-gauge shotgun or what might have motivated him to shoot the doctors and the visitor.

Victims Identified

Dr. Charles G. Gholdoian, 46. Urologist. RIP.

Dr. Christine Lajeunesse. Urologist. In critical condition.

Shawntae Spears, 20, accompanying a family member to a doctor's appointment - condition upgraded from critical to serious.

Authorities said they had not been able to establish any connection between the gunman and any of the victims. But Reno Deputy Police Chief Mac Venzo said the shooter's actions indicated his attack was "not a random event."

"The shooter went through the first and second floor, made his way to the third floor of the building, would indicate to me it is not a random event," Venzo told reporters.

"While we piece this thing together, we are trying to figure out what that relationship is, if there is a relationship at all," he said.
Gholdoian was married and had two children.

The first thing I thought of when I read that the Docs were urologists is maybe the guy had a sexual problem that he either had received treatment for (and it didn't work) or wanted to get treatment for and was denied.

Strange that he targeted this office after walking through 2 other floors.

There was a shooting recently in northern Jersey. A young lawyer and his wife were returning to their vehicle after doing some Christmas shopping and as he opened the door for his wife to get in he was shot in the head & killed in front of her, the men took their vehicle. The vehicle was later found and thank Christ so were the men.

This story made me so sad, there's more to it, I just wanted to give brief background on it. I'm so sick of reading this kind of thing. I wish all those fuckers would stay in their own 'hoods & get a motherfucking job so they aren't inclined to kill other people for what THEY have.

Is this it, Duchess?

Fatal Shooting

These thugs weren't teens, this seems to be a well-organized car jacking ring, the suspects are 29-33 years old. Plenty old enough to know what they're doing.

There was no reason to kill Dustin Friedland, they did it because they could.

Yes, that's it. I am so glad they were caught.

Teary-eyed here, too.

The Davis family has shown incredible dignity and graciousness in the face of such tragedy, and loss.

"Although we have lost our precious daughter," the family said, "we will always be grateful for the indelible journey she took us on over the last 17 years — we were truly blessed to be Claire's parents. The grace, laughter and light she brought to this world will not be extinguished by her death; to the contrary, it will only get stronger."

The family thanked the first responders, school, sheriff's office and others for their "extraordinary work" on Claire's behalf.

This is the Reno Medical Center shooter.

Alan Oliver Frazier, 51, from Northern California

He left a note indicating what he was going to do.

He apparently had a vasectomy in 2010 and complained of ongoing pain, which is reportedly rare but occasionally happens.

Anyway, authorities are trying to determine motive and say they're working to get his physical medical records; they either aren't saying or don't yet know if he was a patient of the two doctors that he shot.

His ex-girlfriend says that he took anti-depression meds and once tried to commit suicide. Authorities are looking into his mental health records as well.

More Details on Reno Medical Center Shooting Released

Yesterday, LE confirmed that Frazier's vasectomy was performed at the same Reno, Nevada Medical Center ("Renown") that he attacked last week. They aren't confirming whether the two doctors that he shot were the ones who performed that surgery back in 2010.

[Image: 2013-12-19T135553Z_1_CBRE9BI12P900_RTROP...NEVADA.JPG]

LE is reportedly still investigating Frazier's physical and mental health records, along with rants he posted about what he considered the "botched" surgery on a Yahoo chat board.

LE received 50 calls when Frazier busted into the medical center; the callers were terrified. Some contents of the calls are covered in this updated article:

AFAIK, the female doctor is still alive, but I haven't seen any updates on her condition.

Merry Effin' Christmas from New Jersey

IRVINGTON — Three men were killed and two were injured in a shooting outside an Irvington strip club early on Christmas morning.

Police said that two or more suspects tried to enter Slick's Go-Go Bar at around midnight and were stopped by a bouncer. He patted down one of the suspects and felt a gun.

The suspect then stepped back and shot the bouncer, according to a police source who asked not to be identified because the matter is still under investigation. The victim died of his injuries.

The shooter killed a second man outside the venue, a man sources say was related to the owner of the nightspot. A third man who died from gunshot wounds is thought to be friend of the suspects. It is not clear whether the third man was accidentally shot or if he was killed by a security person.

"Merry Effin' Christmas from New Jersey", Part II...

RIP Kassan Mormon, 15 and Zainee Hailey, 13

Today, LE announced the arrest of a suspect in the killings of Kassan and Zainee.

The two teens were shot dead on Schley Street in Essex County, New Jersey at 10 p.m. on Christmas night.

The 15 year old suspect's name is not being released.

Latest reports are quoting an official (yet unidentified) source as confirming that the suspect felt "disrespected" by either Kassan, or 14-year-old Abdul "Scooter" Frazier (who was also shot that night, but not fatally) because the suspect felt that one of the two boys had hit on his girlfriend.

Zainee was an honor student who was taking out the trash after just having finished up a family Christmas dinner at her grandpa's house when she was shot and killed by a stray bullet fired by the suspected shooter.

Jesus, really feel for the families who lost their children forever on Christmas day over something so literally juvenile.

Unless prosecutors choose to charge the suspect as an adult, doubt we'll hear much about the proceedings - they'll likely be handled in juvenile court and sealed.

Sniper Snapped?

Shooter: 47-year-old Defense Attorney, Michael Edward Schmidt

This one happened outside of a luxury condo building in Dallas, Texas. Luckily, no one other than the shooter wound up dead.

Snip:
A high-profile lawyer in Dallas, Texas was shot dead by police after he barricaded himself in his luxury condominium complex and fired at cops, NBCDFW reports.

The lawyer, 47-year-old Michael Edward Schmidt, reportedly told an employee at the Glass House by Windsor luxury complex that his condo was being burglarized around 2 a.m. on Thursday.

That worker called the cops, and Schmidt then barricaded himself in a hallway near the lobby of the complex while wearing only his boxer shorts.

"At some point, the individual moved from his barricaded position towards the officers," Deputy Chief Gil Garza with the Dallas Police Department told Fox. "It was then the officers returned fire striking him. He was pronounced deceased at the scene."

Schmidt — who had recently been through a divorce — had an 11-year-old daughter who was in his condo and wasn't harmed. Unnamed sources told
Fox that Schmidt had been taking prescription drugs which his family believes may have made him "snap."

The officers involved in the shootout have been put on leave during an investigation. (HOTD: that's standard; doesn't seem to be any indication that the officers' conduct is in question on this one.)

So many of the "snapped" cases that I've followed and even more of the child murders seem to happen when there are divorce and custody disputes in play. Drugs are in the picture a lot of the time, too.

There may be more to the story on this one; investigation underway.

Glad that the shooter's little girl is okay and that no officers were hit.

He looks like a helluva nice kid, right?

Probably just misunderstood or having a tough time with the holidays when he blasted 5 people on Christmas night.

If he's the guy, I too hope he never sees the light of day again and, given the charges, that looks to be his destiny.

Lone Survivor, for real

A retired Tampa Police Captain was arrested for shooting a man and his wife after an apparent argument over texting while at a Wesley Chapel movie theater.

The shooting happened at Cobb Theater's Grove 16 & CineBistro on Monday afternoon. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says 71-year-old Curtis Reeves, Jr. and his wife were sitting behind another couple, Chad and Nicole Oulson, waiting for the movie Lone Survivor to begin, when Reeves became agitated with Chad for texting before the movie began.

An argument broke out between the couples, after which Reeves reportedly took out a gun and fired at Oulson and his wife. Officials said Nicole tried to block the bullet, resulting in a gunshot wound to her hand, before Chad was struck.

The couple was taken to a Bay area hospital, where Chad was pronounced dead. Nicole's injuries were said to be non-life threatening.

Roswell school shooting: At least 2 students hurt, suspect in custody

Two kids have been injured during shooting at Roswell, NM, school. (KTNV)

ROSWELL, N.M.—
A shooter opened fire at a middle school in Roswell, New Mexico, Tuesday morning, wounding at least two students, according to local police and hospital reports.

According to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, authorities responded at 8:11 a.m. to reports of shots fired at Berrendo Middle School in Roswell.

The Roswell Police Department, through its Facebook page, quickly confirmed that a suspect was in custody, but police did not release any other details.

There will be a press conference at 1 p.m. local time.

Two students were being flown to Lubbock, Texas, said University Medical Center Health System spokesman Eric Finley. A 14-year-old boy is said to be in critical condition and was being taken by helicopter. A 13-year-old girl taken by plane, has been upgraded to serious condition.

There also were earlier reports of two students taken via ambulance to a local hospital.

Kathy Sigala, a parent, told Roswell television station KOB, an NBC affiliate, that she was made aware of the shooting by a phone call from an office colleague.
"It was scary, it was freaky," Sigala told the station. "We just can't believe that it would happen here."

A woman, who asked not be identified, waiting to pick up her 14-year-old son told a Los Angeles Times reporter at the scene that her son called about 7:50 a.m. from a locked room in the school office. She was told that teachers and fellow students were inside.

All were safe, she said. According to the boy, a person with a shotgun was in the school and was tackled and caught, the woman said.

A dispatcher with the Roswell police said the initial report came from the Chaves County Sheriff's Office, but officials there could not be reached early Tuesday.

The Roswell Independent School District has not acknowledged the incident on their web site. A recorded voice message on the school's phone instructed parents to pick up their children at a nearby location.

Roswell is located about 200 miles southeast of Albuquerque.

The incident was the second at a middle school in three months. In October, a 12-year-old boy opened fire with a handgun at his middle school in Sparks, Nevada, killing a teacher and wounding two other students before shooting himself to death.

It comes amid a national debate on gun control, after a gunman shot to death 20 students and six adult staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut in December, 2012. Following that attack, President Barack Obama called for sweeping new gun control measures.
