ANOTHER SCHOOL/PUBLIC SHOOTING

The Parkland young adults are going on a nationwide tour this Summer. They will be registering other young people to vote, or any age for that matter. They are calling it, Road To Change. Go, Parkland!

I wish them much success and hope that midterm voter turnout hits an all-time high.

The March For Our Lives organizers from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland are taking their advocacy on the road this summer in two tours to register young voters and promote gun law changes.

The two-month tours announced Monday morning at the Parkland Amphitheater with about two dozen students in attendance will be called "March for Our Lives: Road to Change."

The tour will launch June 15 in Chicago.

About 20 students will be split into a Florida tour (which stops in every congressional district) and a U.S. tour that visits about 20 states. Some kids will have blackout dates and some will be on both tours.

They'll also be looking to meet with gun-control advocates and gun-control opponents alike in attempt to further the discussion. David Hogg has indicated that he hopes to meet with the NRA as well.

Many of us in High school hunted and there was a gun safety class hosted by the NRA. It was good because safety was and is always needed when a gun is involved. I'm not sure if there are NRA classes in school anymore or gun safety classes in any schools anymore. It's probably mostly hiding from someone with a gun nowadays. More people should hunt.

Maggot, I enjoy your loopy ways around here as much as anybody, but what in the F*CK does hunting and gun safety have to do with people shooting up schools?

Sometimes you’re whackier than Aussie by a country mile.

In this day & age it's kinda weird to recall growing up and seeing guns in a gun rack of damn near every pickup I saw, even those in the student parking lot at school.

I said that because someone mentioned not voting for anyone that backed the NRA. They have done quite a bit of good.

The NRA's focus and image has changed dramatically over the decades.

It's no longer primarily a gun-safety organization.

It's become primarily a political lobby organization for gun manufacturers and others who profit from firearm and ammo sales / proliferation, regardless of the impacts to societal safety.

I read that, they were sure to make sure to say he was a white guy a couple times, something they don't do with a black guy. They never say a "black" guy. But sure do work it up when whitey does it.

Not that it matters, just an observation. I think they said he used a shotgun and picked his victims, so far they say 5 are dead.

Thank you for pointing that out. I think you may be right. Jarrod Warren Ramos filed a defamation claim in 2012 against the paper but the case was dismissed

It appears the paper published an article about his vicious harassment of a woman he went to high school with. His lawsuit was dismissed in 2013, and an appellate court upheld the dismissal in 2015. As the case made its way through the courts, Ramos is suspected posting numerous tweets critical of Capital Gazette and the Maryland judges.

Police say newspaper had received threats on social media prior to the deadly shooting.

As Zero noted, Ramos had unsuccessfully sued the newspaper and one of its former reporters in 2013 for defamation.

Police sources said the gunman purposely damaged his fingertips so investigators couldn't fingerprint him.

Authorities said they recovered a shotgun and what they thought to be an explosive device from the scene.
