ANOTHER SCHOOL/PUBLIC SHOOTING
Every single person who has nothing but thoughts & prayers to offer should have to go through this. Every person! I won't have a bit of compassion for you, just the opposite will be true, I will be glad you're suffering. Fuck ya.

Law Enforcement believes that the Thousand Oaks mass shooter himself credited his ability to carry out Wednesday night's murders to the fact that nobody did anything but offer thoughts and prayers after previous mass shootings.

Authorities have identified a Facebook post believed to have been made by the shooter around the time of the attack.

In it, the writer says: "I hope people call me insane... (laughing emojis).. wouldn't that just be a big ball of irony? Yeah.. I'm insane, but the only thing you people do after these shootings is 'hopes and prayers'.. or 'keep you in my thoughts'... every time... and wonder why these keep happening..."

Also, as of last night, it's been confirmed by LE that shooter Ian Long was a regular of the Borderline Bar and Grill and that he did, in fact, use smoke bombs in the attack (as seen in the bar's surveillance video).

Interesting.

Source is from a local LA page. It had so many pop ups though I could barely get through the article. I am looking for other sources now.

I first heard of the story from a feminist website talking about white male priveliage.

I just read the coach's story in the Daily Mail.  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...chool.html

Neighbors and former classmates also characterize Long as 'mean, angry, disturbed...' even before he joined the military.

I bet he knew many of those he killed at Borderline.

Guessing he was not popular there and not many liked him.

Plenty of Vets there and I find it odd that he either wouldn’t or couldn’t make friends with them.

He was, I’m guessing, lazy and obviously mean spirited. When he was continually blown off, he decided to ‘get even’.

There will continue to be more and more of these as the years pass and we will continue to be defenseless to stop them.

I'm not sure Ian Long killed people he knew at Borderline, MS.  But, I won't be surprised if he did either.

He definitely knew some of the patrons of Borderline.  One of his childhood friends was there and was interviewed a couple of days ago.

New info released by LE:
-- Long was apparently posting to Instagram during the massacre, based on posting time stamps (LE has scrubbed all of his social media content).
-- The surviving victims were not shot, they were injured in the chaos while trying to escape.  Long was very precise and killed everyone he shot.
-- Investigators are working to determine whether Long believed his ex-girlfriend was at Borderline the night of the massacre.

These are the twisted ponderings that the Borderline mass shooter, Ian Long, posted to Facebook and Instagram during the massacre.

"It's too bad I won't get to see all the illogical and pathetic reasons people will put in my mouth as to why I did it."

"Fact is I had no reason to do it, and I just thought.... life is boring so why not?"

"I hope people call me insane... (laughing emojis).. wouldn't that just be a big ball of irony?"

"Yeah.. I'm insane, but the only thing you people do after these shootings is 'hopes and prayers'.. or 'keep you in my thoughts'... every time... and wonder why these keep happening..."

That's a valid point.

Yeah, he was able to set off the smoke bombs, shoot  and kill 12 people, record the massacre on his phone, post to social media, and kill himself........... all in a matter of minutes.

Sadly, Long was uniquely qualified to carry out those multiple tasks efficiently.

He was well-trained in shooting to kill in the military.

He learned how to use smoke bombs during his time in combat as well.

In addition, he was quite familiar with the venue, having been a regular there.

Long was clearly well-equipped to launch a surprise attack and action is faster than reaction.

As you suggested upthread, an armed guard with a gun or a patron with a gun could not likely have done anything other than create more gunshot victims in the chaos.

Another active shooter situation. This time at a hospital in Chicago...or, just another Monday in America.

I just read the story.  Very sad; as are all of the mass shootings.  :(

The killer was Juan Lopez, 32 (right), a Chicago Housing Authority worker.

He shot to death his ex-fiancee, Dr Tamara O'Neal (left,) in the parking lot of Mercy Hospital.  She was an emergency room doctor who'd called off their engagement back in September. Rest in peace.

Lopez killed two other  people as well.

Lopez had been fired from the fire department four years ago for harassing a female cadet.  He threatened to shoot up the department.

He  also had a restraining order filed against him in the recent past.

Still, he legally purchased 5 guns over the last 4 years.

He shot to death intern ^ Dayna Less, 25 (left, pictured with her fiance).  Rest in peace.

Next, Lopez shot to death ^ police officer Samuel Jimenez, 28, a married father of three young children.  Rest in peace.

Lopez also shot at another officer, but the bullet he fired hit the holster on the officer's hip and the bullet lodged inside the officer's gun.

Lopez was killed in a shoot-out with SWAT.

Strasbourg, France

At two least people were killed and one rendered brain-dead yesterday by a gunman at the Christmas Market in Strasbourg.  Rest in peace.

Dozens more were injured before the shooter hopped into a taxi and fled the scene.

The suspected killer is on the run and may no longer be in France.  He lives near the border of France and Germany and engaged in gunfire with French police near his home after the Christmas Market shootings, but managed to get away.

This public shooting appears to be an act of terrorism.  The shooter reportedly shouted out "Allahu Akbar" during the shooting.

French authorities say the suspect, ^ Chérif Chekatt -29, has a long criminal record, mostly theft related, and had served time in France and Germany.

Chekatt was reportedly radicalized in prison and had been on their 'terrorist watchlist' since 2015.

A massive manhunt is underway.

He may have been stopped by a guard or a legal carry but not sure how that works over there.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

More likely, more than three people would have been shot if other people started firing off rounds in the chaos.

Anyway, armed police weren't able to stop the guy when they exchanged gunfire with him.

I hope he gets apprehended quickly. French police found grenades and other weapons when they searched his apartment.

It's apparent that everyone but him (and some of his cult) knows he's not getting his wall. He can moan about it until pigs fly and it's still not ever going to happen.
