We may be related, what's it to you. Just go suck a lollipop.....

Blueberryhill, Sally is ok. Everything she says is sarcastic so it is meant to be funny. It's that Maggot you have to watch out for, he's shifty. 47

oh, I know Aussie, that is why I acknowledged that we may be related. I think her sarcasm is really funny. That is why i told her to do suck a lollipop. I especially like those with the tootsie roll inside....i was being equally sarcastic back to her, she is just much better than me.....and don't worry, I have Maggs' number, too.

I wasn't being sarcastic, you two are really like the Bobbsey twins. One old, one young, but both nuts.

I think you're both genuinely nice people, however. But If I was married to you I'd either become gay or slice my throat.

I thought you said you'd OD if you were gonna off yourself?

Throat-slashing would take a lot of nerve, but it would probably be quicker.

What a mess though. You'd have to be really annoyed with your spouse to leave that clean-up job.

It is difficult to know when you are being sarcastic or not, but in any case, I agree with you. I wouldn't want to be married to me either....don't know about becoming gay or slicing my throat, though. I probably would just continue being single and not subject my "husband" to a selfish, shallow, I crazy, opinionated, etc. lady. I have said all that about myself numerous times on here....I think you are nice, too, maybe a little bored with your life, but you fit very well on this forum...hope you can recapture the "spark" because I know what User is talking about when the spark doesn't shine as bright and you settle into being a couple and form a deeper relationship (more spiritual than passionate), but I always wanted that "spark" to last. Marriage works for some people. I have a very good friend who has been married to her 2nd husband for 25 years and she still misses her husband when she is apart from him for even a day. She has maintained that "spark" for 25 years and I do envy her. Cheers, to my Mock friend.....

Never mind, I'd throw myself in the river instead. I hope no one minds that I look like shit when they pull me out.

You're right about that. I'm not bored in a way that I would ever find myself sitting on the couch flipping through tv channels and thinking damn I'm bored. I can find something to keep me busy every minute of the day, unfortunately it's not fun. I'm just bored of doing stuff that I don't like doing. Like working hah.

Wait, has Sally somehow become MY twin? WTF??

She drinks beer and I drink wine just for starters. She's a self admitted possible alcoholic and I'm still immersed in denial. She has a fat, black-haired furry husband and mine is fat, furry and blonde.

Her kitchen is wayyyyy cleaner, less cluttered than mine.

We couldn't be more different. Besides, she's a twat and I'm not. 17

Religous Freedom Act Protects Anti-gay Policy Towards Teacher in Nebraska

^ Matthew Eledge has been a popular English teacher and speech coach at the V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic High School in Omaha for five years.

After he told some colleagues that he was engaged to his boyfriend, school administrators got word and told him that his contract would not be renewed unless he ended the relationship. Teachers at the school are on year-to-year contracts.

In defending the school's position, Omaha Archdiocese Chancellor Tim McNeil said there have been single, pregnant teachers and those who've divorced and remarried outside the Catholic church who have lost their jobs too.

He also acknowledged that plenty of teachers get away with breaking church tenet, saying the archdiocese essentially has a 'don't ask, don't tell' policy. 'Of course there's a lot we don't know,' McNeil said. 'We don't go looking for these situations.'

^ More than 140 students wore t-shirts supporting Mr Eledge's cause at a school event with dozens of students proudly wearing them. 'We can't force a change, but we can inspire a change,' Skutt student Darya Kaboli-Nejad told KMTV. 44 Smart girl.

In addition, an on-line petition to bar his firing has accumulated over 95,000 signatures.

Such religious views on homosexuality are fast becoming out-of-step with the views of the general public. Recent studies show that the majority of American Catholics no longer agree with the church's official stance on gay marriage.

The Public Religion Research Institute found that 61 percent of white Catholics and 60 percent of Hispanic Catholics in America support allowing gay and lesbian couples to tie the knot with younger Catholics increasingly in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage.

Asked if he's considering legal action, Eledge said he's only focused on teaching his students for the next six weeks. He has received a number of offers to teach at other schools next year, he said. 'So, maybe it's a blessing in disguise,' he said. 'I just want to teach.'

========================

Personally, I think letting a good committed teacher go because he's gay is asinine and archaic. But, I'm not an old Catholic. And, I don't run the school.

I do believe the private school has a right to let him go (religious freedom law or not). Maybe the students' protests, the online petition, and support from the community and the school's donors can help to save his job. Maybe.

I agree that the school has a right to fire him but I don't like that they can. I don't like the unfairness of it.

If teaching is done best by example, then he is the very best teacher and a credit to his profession and to himself. The school is making a big mistake, hopefully to their own detriment, and by example, teaching the student body a lesson they will long remember. IMO

Duchess, This makes me think about "Dead Poets Society" as Ethan Hawke stands on his desk to salute Robin Williams when he comes to collect his things. I can't watch that scene without great emotion as the rest of the class is inspired to stand in solidarity and defy the schoolmaster's demands to SIT DOWN, SIT DOWN, SIT DOWN.

That's an awesome film, Zero. It was very popular around here. Awink

I've got to go with the school on this one. If it's a religious school, somehow funded by the Catholic Church or otherwise a Catholic entity, I think they're well within their rights to let him go (at least they didn't abruptly fire him and instead, are choosing not to renew his contract). The "unless he terminates his relationship" is disgusting but I guess necessary...they're giving him SOME choice (albeit an insulting one).

He needs to look for a job in secular society.

There are some people that fear that if gay couples are allowed to marry, somehow that will slippery slope in to Catholic churches and such being forced to conduct gay marriages. Stupid. Separation of church/state. But, that guy shouldn't be surprised that his employer might feel the need to take some action now that they've discovered he's (seemingly) openly gay and plans to hopefully wed his boyfriend. He's in the wrong job. If he's such a great teacher, I'd like to think a public highschool or something would grab him up quickly.

Yep. He would do better in a secular school. I have a gay friend who started as a teacher in a secular school, worked his way up to vice principal and is now principal. Had co workers at his wedding last year, too.
