Yeah, it usually doesn't take them so long to take credit.

But, this was such a huge massacre involving many assailants, and Egypt's forces are very aggressive.

So, it could be that ISIS is responsible but not wanting to claim credit until their 'soldiers' are safe or dead.

I have not seen any news about ISIS in a while. I think they're on the run in Afghanistan.

The Office of the Paris Prosecutor, which handles terrorism cases in France, says a man killed in Strasbourg in a shootout with police has been identified as the main suspect in a Christmas market attack that killed three people.

The man was identified as Charif Chekatt, a 29-year-old whom police had been searching for since Tuesday night's attack near Strasbourg's Christmas market, which also left 13 people wounded.

The SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors extremist activity online, says the Islamic State group's Amaq news agency is claiming the gunman who opened fire near a Christmas market in Strasbourg as a "soldier" of the group.

The claim was published shortly after news emerged of a shootout with French police in Strasbourg Thursday night in which a man believed to be the suspect was killed. IS claims of responsibility have often been considered opportunistic in the past.

French police had been searching for 29-year-old Charif Chekatt, the suspected shooter during the Tuesday night that killed three people and wounded 13.  Chekatt was born in Strasbourg and had a long criminal record.  He was reportedly radicalized while incarcerated.  Several of his family members and associates have been detained by police for questioning.

Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, 24, and  Maren Ueland, 28,  were found dead by beheadings last week.  Louisa was Danish and Maren was Norwegian.  Rest in peace.

The pair were on vacation from Norwegian University, where they were studying to become outdoor tour guides and had set up camp at an isolated mountain site around two hours from the tourist village of Imlil when they were attacked.  That must have been horrifying. :(

Authorities believe they were attacked randomly by ISIS militants, who filmed the murder and posted the video online on various ISIS forums.  The video reportedly shows one man with a knife declaring that "it's Alah's will."

Moroccan officials don't believe the attacks were officially coordinated by the ISIS organization.  In total, 19 people have now been arrested in connection with the slayings.

New Zealand

This is so sad and disgusting.

An Australian white-supremacist and his anti-Muslim extremist accomplices shot to death 48 people at two mosques in New Zealand yesterday.  Rest in peace.

Dozens of others were injured in New Zealand's worst mass shooting and the death count may rise further.

Two other men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the shootings.

Moments after the attack on the mosque, a bodycam footage of the gunman carrying out the shooting was live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook.

The racist killer had posted a manifesto praising U.S. President Donald Trump as a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose.

The killer also praised racist American mass shooter Dylann Roof, along with American conservative commentator and political activist, Candace Owens.

^ Owens is the director of communications at the conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA, who is known for her pro-Trump stance and her harsh criticisms of Black Lives Matter and of the Democratic Party.

“Yes the person that had influenced me above all was Candace Owens. Each time she spoke I was stunned by her insights and her own views helped me further and further into the belief of violence over meekness. Though I will have to disavow some of her beliefs, the extreme actions she calls for are too much, even for my tastes,” the manifesto read.

This is an ongoing investigation and developing story.

More details on the New Zealand mosque shootings

Witnesses reported hearing 50 shots from his semi-automatic shotgun at Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch.

A nearby second mosque, Masjid in Linwood, also in the city of Christchurch, was also attacked soon after.

At least 49 people are confirmed dead - 41 from the first mosque, seven from the second, and one in hospital.

Yeah, it's awful anytime a mass shooting goes down anywhere.

For the people of New Zealand, it's also shocking.  It's such a small country/population which prided itself on its diversity and public safety record.

The latest updates indicate that Tarrant had been planning the attacks for two years and moved from Australia to New Zealand in order to carry out his plot.

Here's the latest on the New Zealand mosque shooter.  New Zealand authorities will give another update this afternoon.

Snip:
Before allegedly live streaming the attack on Facebook, the suspect published an apparent "manifesto" in which he denounced immigrants as "invaders".

The 74-page document, a collection of slogans and tirades against immigrants, Muslims, and Jews posted on the chat forum 8chan — known for publishing a wide range of content including hate speech — cited “white genocide” and the growth of minority populations as his motivation.

During his travels, Tarrant claimed he had brief contact with the Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik, who gave his blessing to the attack.

In the manifesto, the attacker, who described himself as a "racist" and saw US President Donald Trump as a "symbol of renewed white identity," believed the conflict over the 2nd amendment in the US (the right to bear arms) would result in a civil war.

The manifesto revealed that the attacker moved to New Zealand to stage the alleged attack, which he had been planning for two years.

The suspect also claimed Emmanuel Macron's victory over Marie Le Pen in France's 2017 presidential played a crucial part in his radicalisation.

Tarrant was apparently radicalized on-line.  He praised the Internet for teaching him and helping him develop his "beliefs". In fact, his worldviews seem to be put together by pieces he found on the world wide web. The document also indicates a heavy involvement in online subcultures that attract extremist views.

Nolwenn Bervas, lead terrorism analyst at the Risk Advisory Group, told Reuters there were numerous places around the internet for people such as the Christchurch attacker to congregate.

"The amount of information and propaganda linked to the far-right, far-left or jihadism is extensive and accessible," Bervas said. "One of the Christchurch perpetrators posted his manifesto online before the attack where he wrote that he received/researched/developed his beliefs on the Internet, adding 'You will not find the truth anywhere else'.

That's exactly how many in the United States view him. They LIKE it when he puts white Americans above all else, the more trump shits on people, the more they love him. Real world rules and norms are utterly meaningless to them. When I refer to "they", I'm not referring to any one person in Mock, I'm painting with a broad brush and talking about what I see in Cyberspace in general. trump knows they're there and he knows they're watching and listening. They will follow him blindly. I'm not exaggerating.

I hear ya.

Whether or not President Trump is a racist, he has not come out and specifically denounced 'white supremacy' or 'white nationalism'.  It shouldn't be in the least bit difficult to do so, but he doesn't want to alienate that portion of his base, in my opinion.

I think Andrew Gillum said it best, "the racists believe he's a racist".  I believe that perception is intentional on the part of Trump and some in the White House.

Absolute lie.

He did so after Charlottesville.

Why are you lying?

Oh, and before you go there, no he doesn't have to keep denouncing white supremacism every time they do something shitty. Nor is he a racist for not.

So stop lying HoTD you ideological zealot.

Another worshiper, Abdul Aziz, 48 ^ , also acted bravely and is credited with pushing the extreme right-wing Australian mass-murderer from the scene.

Aziz yelled 'come here' as he ran at Brenton Tarrant.  Mr Aziz spotted a gun the attacker had dropped and picked it up. He pointed it and squeezed the trigger but it was empty.

He said the gunman ran back to the car for a second time to grab another weapon. 'He gets into his car and I just got the gun and threw it on his window like an arrow and blasted his window,' he said.  'The windshield shattered, that's why he got scared."

Aziz said the gunman was cursing at him, yelling that he was going to kill them all. But the killer drove away and Mr Aziz said he chased the car down the street to a red light before it made a U-turn and sped away.

Online videos indicate police officers then managed to force the car from the road and drag out the suspect soon after.

Aziz, originally from Kabul, Afghanistan, said he left as a refugee when he was a boy and lived for more than 25 years in Australia before moving to New Zealand a couple of years ago.  He says he's not a 'hero' and anyone would have done what he did.

Aziz said he didn't feel fear or much of anything when he faced the gunman. He said it was like he was on autopilot and he believes Allah did not think it was his time to die.
