WORD/PHRASE OF THE DAY
#21
Still whining, Gunnar! 28

Are you so special or void of original thought that you need an exception to copy/paste content protocols that no one else seems to have a problem respecting on this board and most others?

Rhetorical.

Yes, I am. Thanks for asking. It's a request that has never once been asked of me and I have frequented many boards. Seems a bit over the top to me.

Bingo, Biggie.

You figured out the word play on the first guess!

If MS ever starts a "Riddle Me This" or "20 Questions" thread, you're the man to beat I bet.

You copied and pasted somebody else's thoughts/argument, word for word, into your comment. The ONLY thing you deleted was the cited source/author within that text.

I gave attribution for you and requested that you please do that for yourself in the future.

You're over the top for making a big deal about it, days later even. Quejica.

I'd go along with that if it had ever come up before (here or anywhere else), but it hasn't. You just enjoy picking the nit. It's your prerogative, but I just don't actually believe there is a real threat of prosecution as you claim. It's just you. Picking the nit.hah

Yes, apparently we are subject to prosecution if we don't cite our sources for things we don't author here.

I'll be goddamned if I'm going to do any extra shit around here. Prosecute me, I dare ya.

If someone made waves because they felt their intellectual property was being plagiarized it wouldn't be you they went to, it would be me. I rarely think about it and no one has ever threatened to sue me, not for that anyway. We simply have to be mindful about giving attribution, that's all.

I was joking, I don't make a habit of posting other people's stuff anyway. The first thing that comes to mind is I posted a famous quote from The Big Labowski without giving attribution, but I don't think you have to worry about John Goodman suing you.

I don't care if you think I'm a nit picker, Gunnar. You're acting like a nit wit, but I'm not picking on you. The expectation is the same for everyone here, and there are few expectations and rules at Mock.

I made a request of you, in line with protocol and something that LC asked of members and visitors: 1. Don't paste articles without attribution, 2. Don't lift Mock content for publication, and 3. Don't include the copyright notice in clips of published pieces.

If for some reason you need to try to pass other people's published arguments/articles off as your own, or you're just too lazy to give credit to the author or post the link, then keep pounding your fists and bitching about it.

You're not in trouble, I didn't mention prosecution, and I don't think it's too much to ask of you to honor the request in order to minimize the chances that we'll have to deal with infringement complaints. But, it's your call.

No. Not in a privately owned forum that you agreed to abide by the terms and conditions of when you signed up.

Well I guess you still could, but most people will think you're a whiny little bitch.

It's my right as an American Crash. A right that HoTD holds ever so closely to her heart. The freedom to protest any godamn way the wind blows if I so choose. Furthermore, anyone who who gives a rats ass what an anonymous faceless jackass on a message board thinks about them should probably spend more time away from their computer.
