No.........not you cars, auto cars. I bought a Chevy Blazer 4x4 for the winter that was in really good shape, took out the engine, took out the transmission. I put in a 307 and added a 400 transmission. Now the check engine light is on so I asked a guy and he said disconnect the bulb. So I did and passed my inspection. They don't let you pass if its on. It turns out that the 92's used a flashing light and not a computer plug in if the lights off your good. I thought it was only 89 and earlier.

That is my tech tip for the day.

I'm changing out a head gasket this weekend so now I'm looking for a machine shop to shave the top end. It usually takes me 3-4 hrs to do it but then there is a day or so added for that. I kinda like doing it as long as the heads not warped, then I get all pissy.

Fascinating, just fucking fascinating.

I cleaned my car today. Normally I have it detailed at the car wash place, but today I decided to use their Express Lava Bath drive-thru for 5 bucks. It actually did a nice job, just as good as when I pay them 40 bucks to hand wash it. Plus it's kind of neat driving through it.

Next time open the windows and stick your head out with your mouth open, that would be fun.

Did I ever mention that my dog fell out of the car doing that. I see dogs everyday hanging out of car windows and I have the only dog in the world that actually managed to fall out.

No, you didn't. That's awful! I probably wouldn't have posted that video if I had known that. Smiley_emoticons_slash

He didn't get hurt amazingly and I was doing about 40 mph. The windows in the back only rolled half way down so how an almost 200 lb Newfoundland could fall out of it is beyond me. My whole family was in the car and we all started screaming and crying like a bunch of nuts, it was ridiculous. I turned around and we found him sitting in a furniture store parking lot without a scratch on him.

There was another time that he almost drowned in the pond at the dog park. He jumped in and sunk like a rock. After about 2 mins. I told my husband that I don't think he's coming back up. So my husband jumped in to pull him out with his wallet and phone and everything in his pockets. We were the laughing stock of the dog park.

hah That's funny but not funny. Y'all musta been horrified!

I had a bad dog experience with water too. My beagle liked to jump in the pond when the geese were in there, she'd swim towards them until they flew off only to have them come back in at the opposite end and she would swim back & forth trying to get them but damn near killing herself in the process. She didn't have enough sense to swim to shore when she was tiring. The fool had to be pulled out a couple times. I didn't jump in, there are snappers in there.

No you don't. The GF's cousin got a new pooch a while back, 6 month ole choc lab. The girls had him in the blazer running around town with the window all the way down and he climbed out, skint up his paws pretty bad, but he is ok now. Who the fuck don't know you got to hang onto the dog until they figure out that whole car moving thing?

I sincerely hope the new gasket in your head will make it easier for me to understand all of your comments....so I will drink to the success of this procedure!

I got the head off today after a leakage test and #1-3 cylinders were sucking in antifreeze. At least its off and ready in the machinist shop for resurfacing on Monday. No warpage as it never overheated and should be back together by Tuesday night or wed. I really need to get a real oil furnace out in my shop because in this zero weather it takes forever to warm up with just a woodstove. I know a 307 is a low HP type engine but they will withstand tons of torment and go forever. And I don't feel like messing with the match up conversion to a 400 transmission at all with a 350 or 383 stoker right now. I wish I had the money and time to turn a 350 into one but I can dream.

Engine is back together and runs well, so I decide to spray some wire dryer sealant around my new plugs and wires so a puddle doesn't screw me up and my D-123 from 1973 had no propellant so me in my infinite wisdom decided to drill out the top of the can with a 38 bit (don't ask me why I used that size) because it was still full so I could pour it into the empty formula 409 that I just washed out to spray on the wires. Then the fun started. The second that bit penetrated the inner workings of that can I remembered that most 40 yr old cans of aerosol still had 20% in them. That can jumped out of my hand, spun on the floor and knocked over my broom that knocked over my last beer. And that..............is the tragedy.
