I love 'City of New Orleans', Mags. Steve Goodman's original version is even better than Arlo Guthrie's, in my opinion.

Goodman was a great songwriter and performer. There are a couple of songs he did with John Prine and Jimmy Buffet that I really like.

I hadn't thought about him in years, until the Cubs won the World Series.

Good morning, you big old gloater!

You were right about the number of disgruntled people who'd get out to vote against Clinton (and for Trump) being higher than reflected.

I'm happy for you, and FAHQTOO, and F.U., and JsMom, and all the other true Trump supporters here. I don't think sal is really a Trump supporter, but either way, she was right in her projection and her words have been marked. And, I owe Biggie $100.

I'm bummed about the Senate. I don't like when the Executive, Judicial, and Legislative branches of our government are under a single party majority, but I'm glad a few of the smart and generally principled Republicans I like are still on the job.

And, I sincerely hope that President Trump surprises me and the change his administration brings turns out to be much better (for everyone) than I currently have reason to expect. Hope and change...

This one by effin' Ted seems like an appropriate one for you on this day. Cheers

I feel bad for President Obama this morning.

I think he did some real good (and some not-so-good) in office. He leaves office with the highest favorable rating since it's been tracked, aside from Bill Clinton.

It's gotta suck beyond belief handing the baton over to a man who amassed a core part of his base by falsely denying Obama's personal history for years, and by refusing to acknowledge Obama's legitimate victory as decided by the American people.

President Obama is gonna be speaking soon. I expect he'll be a class act, as usual.

One of President Obama's favorite songs, and mine.

It's such a moving song -- the lyrics and the performance.

I wish the message was less true today than it was 45 years ago, but some progress has been made in that time and hopefully more can be made moving forward.

Hillary Clinton just gave her concession speech. I think she's one amazingly strong woman and ambitious person.

I'm sure this morning is one of the hardest of her life. She's accomplished a hell of a lot and I can see the personal good in her a lot more clearly than I did before this election cycle.

I'm gonna go all-out cheezy in recognition of Hillary Clinton here... ")

I feel a little sad for her, I think she wanted this way more than him. She's been working for it her whole life and he probably just did it to win a bet with one of his billionaire buddies.
