RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE IN 2016 US ELECTION & SPIN-OFF INVESTIGATIONS
Speaking of looking like idiots................last week, I posted a video in the GUNS thread.  It was from Sacha Baren Cohen's new series, 'Who is America?' and showed him in character as Erran Morad, a former Israeli Intelligence officer, punking several Republican Reps and gun advocates into full-throated support of a program called KinderGuardians.  KinderGuardians -- which, unbeknownst to the Republican Reps was made up by Cohen -- promoted pre-schoolers 3-years old and up attending school locked and loaded.  Those Reps looked like absolute morons and showed their true colors.

This week's show led to the resignation of another total moron, Republican Representative Jason Spencer from Georgia.  Spencer had sponsored a bill to ban burkas and publicly threatened a black female politician.  Cohen, again in character as Morad, taught Spencer how to spot and defend himself against ISIS terrorists in the U.S.  Spencer took it all very seriously and literally showed his ass to the world.

Smiley_emoticons_skeptisch Jesus Christ.  These are the elected officials making laws for our country.  I don't know how Cohen is able to keep a straight face.

That's what I thought too! I was hysterical with laughter when I saw it. Dude pulls his pants down and is backing up while looking over his shoulder and trying to be aggressive. Ahahahahaha! Man.

Just to keep things in perspective, that guy makes about 23K a year and get $153 per day stipend when he's "lawmaking." Trust me, there are plenty of morons on both sides of the aisle just like this guy.

Yeah, Gunnar, you post your "both sides of the aisle" spiel after nearly every political or satirical post regarding Republicans. Of course we all already know that morons come in all stripes and colors, there are thousands of posts to that effect across the Mock threads.

At this particular time, House Republicans take the cake when it comes to blatant displays of public and private idiocy, in my observation. And, I don't care how much money any of them makes. It's not 'perspective' to throw the Reps' salaries into the equation, it's completely irrelevant. Some of them are rich and some of them not. Money doesn't make people more or less likely to be morons.

Anyway, if you want to post up Democrats or Independents or anyone else saying and doing truly moronic things, go for it. I'll roll my eyes and laugh at that too, as usual.

How's that Manafort trial going? Last I heard the prosecution wasn't sure if Gates would testify. Sarcastic I like the judge though, he called the reporters " rats fleeing a sinking ship" after the prosecution said that, they all went running to get the "scoop" out.  45846688jerry      what a comedy skit this is turning out to be.

Judge Ellis is definitely known for being colorful in language and for pushing to keep trials as short as possible.

The Manafort trial seems to be going well for prosecutors. It's moving along more quickly than expected and they appear to have a large document trail and several witnesses lined up to show the jury how Manafort failed to report the many millions of dollars he made lobbying for Russian-backed Ukrainian politicians, then stashed the money in international accounts and spent it lavishly while evading paying any taxes on it. I believe they have the fraudulent bank loan applications Manafort submitted as well, along with the testimony of the banker to whom Manafort promised campaign and administration positions in exchange for loans.

No doubt that having Manafort's right hand, Rick Gates, as a cooperating witness since February assisted prosecutors in accumulating the evidence.

I think it was smart that prosecutors declined to commit as to whether Gates would testify at Manafort's first trial. "Rocket Docket" Judge Ellis didn't want prosecutors to present evidence once and then have Gates testify to the same evidence later. Ellis interrupted the prosecutor today, as he often does, and asked if Gates was going to testify to the same evidence later then why not leave it until then. So, the prosecutor said he was undecided on whether Gates would testify and was allowed to continue presenting his evidence.

Plus, after the defense revealed yesterday that their case revolves around blaming Gates for everything for which Manafort is charged, it could make the defense attorneys nervous if they're not sure whether they'll have a chance to cross-examine Gates and try to put HIM on trial. If the case is strong enough that Gates' testimony isn't needed, maybe prosecutors really will choose to pull that rug out from under Manafort's attorneys. If Gates does indeed testify, the prosecutors will have been able to present the evidence once and then reinforce it during Gates' testimony.

Anyway........I don't think lying, committing fraud, evading taxes, witness tampering, and the President making highly prejudicial public statements regarding ongoing criminal investigations is comical stuff............ but whatever tickles your funny bone. Smiley_emoticons_smile

It's going well. A snarky judge, an old man on the verge of going to prison for the rest of his life while leaving behind an old woman wife to fend for herself. Isn't that hilarious.   Sarcastic

Mannafort is a swamp rat, but he is just one of many and there are plenty on both sides of the political divide.
I thought Mueller was investigating collusion with Russians to influence the 2016 election. NONE of these charges relate to that. Not saying he is not guilty or should not do time. Seems somewhat political and partisan. What inroads has Mueller made with the overwhelming evidence of collusion with the DNC and Hillary's campaign and Russian collusion and collusion with other foreign intelligence agencies? Any? Why is that?

Again....Mannafort is a swamp rat and should do time.

I get the feeling Trump isn't going anywhere, that this whole thing is just going to drag out and give CNN something to talk about and Fox News something to bitch about.

I predict nothing happens to Manafort. He gets a suspended sentence. Even with a Trump hating jury.

You know he was previously many years ago, exonerated for these crimes by Rod Rosenstein .....apparently.

Yeah, but with the Trump hatred very strong the FBI is looking under any rock they can see to get at him. Manafort was an easy rock to lift. Don't worry they have lots of other rocks to look under just not the ones with a "D" painted on them. It's more obvious than I they think apparently.

Oh Maggot quit it with the brainwashing already. The FBI are doing their bloody job! That's it. To attack people doing their job because they are exposing your corruption is not a winnable argument. I would accept your wacky President if he was legitimate, but he's not, he's a fraud and a cheater, and a liar. I thought you had a brain in your head.

Why are you accusing the FBI of being partisan? I know why trump does it, why are you doing it? Why are you ignoring everything that is already out there in regards to the Russians? For example, Kushner trying to get a secret back channel to the Kremlin.

Agreed.

Look I know there there is "bad on both sides" and I know that Mannafort was a slimeball. That unto itself I have no real issue with. If they had not stacked the Mueller Team with dyed in the wool Campaign donating Democrats and people who had expressed deep animus to President Trump AND then targeted him and his campaign, I would probably be a lot quieter.

From there, the more that comes up with tied between the Intelligence apparatus, the DNC, The Media and Fusion GPS, the worse it looks. Who is fucking who and who is paying the rent?

A good and honest round up I have no gripe with. Sticking almost exclusively to the Trump campaign and trying to get them for unrelated stuff and squeeze them looks kind of partisan. Especially after the farce with Hillary and her server with the same incestuously intertwined elements that were behind exonerating Hillary.
