As covered in other threads, Attorney General Jeff Sessions was forced to resign yesterday.   President Trump had long disparaged Sessions for recusing himself from the Russian Interference investigation due to conflicts of interest.

The new interim Attorney General is Sessions' chief of staff and reported Justice Dept snitch to the President, Matthew Whitaker, pictured below.

Whitaker has made public comments about how the Special Counsel could be stymied by a new Attorney General who could cut off all the funding to Mueller's team and grind the investigation to a halt.

I don't think that will happen under Whitaker or anyone else, personally. The Mueller investigation has already produced too much documented evidence, indictments, and convictions.

Anyway, now that the Democrats control the House of Representatives and its subpoena/investigative powers, the remaining pieces of the investigation could be picked up there if the Executive influences the Justice Dept to quash Mueller.

According to attorney George Conway III (Kellyanne Conway's husband), Whitaker's appointment to replace Sessions is unconstitutional and illegal in any case because a principal officer (one who reports directly to the President) must be confirmed by the Senate.

Snip:
The flaw in the appointment of Mr. Whitaker defies one of the explicit checks and balances set out in the Constitution, a provision designed to protect us all against the centralization of government power.

Last year, the Supreme Court examined the question of whether the general counsel of the National Labor Relations Board had been lawfully appointed to his job without Senate confirmation.

The Supreme Court held the appointment invalid on a statutory ground. Justice Clarence Thomas, who Trump calls one of his favorite sitting justices, agreed with the judgment, and further emphasized that even if the statute had allowed the appointment, the Constitution’s Appointments Clause would not have.

The officer in question was a principal officer, he concluded. And the public interest protected by the Appointments Clause was a critical one: The Constitution’s drafters, Justice Thomas argued, “recognized the serious risk for abuse and corruption posed by permitting one person to fill every office in the government.” Which is why, he pointed out, the framers provided for advice and consent of the Senate.

We cannot tolerate such an evasion of the Constitution’s very explicit, textually precise design. Senate confirmation exists for a simple, and good, reason. For the president to install Mr. Whitaker as our chief law enforcement officer is to betray the entire structure of our charter document.

Jerome Corsi is a conspiracy theorist who worked with Trump to propagate the bullshit 'birther theory' claiming that Obama was born in Kenya, probably a Muslim, possibly an enemy of the state and all kinds of other idiocy.  In fact, Corsi literally wrote the book on it.

Corsi has also worked closely with Roger Stone and Infowars host Alex Jones and was the DC correspondent for Jones's Infowars conspiracy program last year.

Today Corsi's attorney announced that Corsi has been subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C. on Friday as part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.  Corsi will fully comply with the Mueller team’s subpoena, according to attorney David Gray.

Questions have long swirled about Stone's possible interactions with WikiLeaks and hacker Guccifer 2.0 during the 2016 campaign, when both entities were releasing Democratic emails that had been hacked by Russian intelligence agents.

A spokesperson for the special counsel’s office declined to comment.  Mueller's office has not and is not commenting on the ongoing investigation.

UPDATE:

--Jerome Corsi is talking with the special counsel's team about a plea deal.
--Corsi could aid Robert Mueller's team in determining whether Trump and his team were tied to WikiLeaks’ release of hacked Democratic emails.
--Roger Stone continues to be the subject of investigation regarding possible ties to Wikileaks.

How is Judge Kavanaugh a Patron Saint. How was he MORE than a judge Trump elected that was objected to by Democrats and to which the Democrats weaponsised a "Me Too" smear campaign against?

No? Okay. In No way a Patron Saint or seen as such by anyone and you are being disingenuous? Okay then. Well done.

Things have been getting even weirder with the Trump and company cast of characters over the last 24 hours.

President Trump continues to act like someone who’s guilty of intentional wrong-doing, in my opinion. Transparent attempts to discredit the investigation in the court of public opinion before Mueller's report is released.

Corsi (who has a book on the topic coming out soon) and Stone keep stating publicly that they expect to be indicted for coordinating with WikiLeaks in regards to the illegally hacked/released DNC and Podesta emails. However, they both claim no wrong-doing.

Manafort blew his plea deal by reportedly lying to Mueller's team, and his attorneys have been reporting into President Trump's attorneys all along.

Michael Cohen continues cooperating with Mueller's team and just pleaded guilty to lying to Congress about the timing of the Trump Tower Russia deal. He admitted that attempts to make it happen didn't actually end in January 2016, but instead continued into June 2016.

Trump told reporters this morning that Cohen is a weak person, a liar, and a loser who's trying to get a reduced sentence.
