It gave me an idea though. First I would have to explain UBER.

Don't worry. She has a street address on her ID. In fact, she enjoys receiving correspondence from her constituents there. Debbie Wasserman just sent her something yesterday.

That fucker takes douchebaggery to a whole new level.
Yeah, he does. It shouldn't even be allowable that a candidate for office can be in charge of establishing election/voting rules and overseeing that same election, in my opinion.

That's cool, no matter which party the seniors support. The more votes, the better. It's a very good thing Uber and Lyft are doing.

Yeah thats just fucking fantastic. A bunch of crack heads and alzheimer patients get to put their two cents in.

I doubt Alzheimer's patients and crackheads have voting on their minds and can meet the eligibility requirements.

Seriously, with some Republican-controlled states closing polling stations in lower income areas in order to suppress votes, it's more difficult for civic-minded people who walk or take public transportation to vote.

It's really cool that Uber and Lyft are forgoing profits to provide an important public service.

Keep believing that fairy tail. Every freak at walmart has voting on their minds, it's all people have to live for anymore. They can buy their guns there and catch an uber to go vote.

It's not a fairy tale.

I want as many eligible voters who want to vote to be able to vote.

That includes the gun-buying freaks at Walmart.

You said you doubt alzheimers patients and crack heads have voting on their minds. I bet it's the top thing on their minds. How do you think Trump made it so far?

America filled with 63 million Alzeimers patients and crack heads in a total population of 328 million. (about 20% of the total population). That would make America one of the quantifiable worst nations in the world. hah

That's something everyone should want, yet republicans continue to try and suppress the vote in a number of ways. It's pathetic. They don't even have enough dignity to be embarrassed.

True. The Democrats on the other hand will vote after they are dead, if they are ineligible, vote in multiple states and multiple times. They like voting more Smiley_emoticons_smile

Supreme Court to Take On Gerrymandering

I wish Congress would pass fair bi-partisan legislation that strictly defines how voting districts can be drawn and mandates that district maps be drawn only by a transparent non-partisan body.  Districting should not be done by one political party.

That would avoid or significantly reduce the problem of gerrymandering, whereby the ruling/majority party redraws voting districts in a manner which gives them an unfair advantage in elections.

Below is a very good and short video explaining 'gerrymandering' and how it leads to unfair election results.

A Supreme Court ruling declaring that the district mapping in one or both of the specific cases at hand was unconstitutional would set a precedent for all states.

That, to me, wouldn't be as ideal as legislation preventing gerrymandering in the first place. But, it would at least allow the disadvantaged party an opportunity to challenge the constitutionality of unfair redistricting in the courts and hopefully reduce the number of 'wasted votes'.

Snip:
The Supreme Court will take up unresolved constitutional questions about partisan gerrymandering, agreeing Friday to consider rulings from two lower courts that found congressional maps in North Carolina and Maryland so extreme that they violated the rights of voters.

The North Carolina map was drawn by Republicans, the Maryland districts by the state’s dominant Democrats.

The Supreme Court passed up the chance last term to settle the issue of whether courts have a role in policing partisan gerrymandering (now, they're taking it on).

I love the content of the Democrats' first bill of their newly-secured House majority control. Bill H.R. 1 is truly about draining the DC swamp of corruption, including election corruption.

Bill H.R. 1, or the For the People Act, mandates that states use paper ballots in elections, which must also be hand-counted, or by “optical character recognition device,” the bill states.

The bill will also allow the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) — the small federal agency tasked with helping officials carry out elections — to hand out funding to states for the improvement of their elections systems.

In addition, the Department of Homeland Security would be required to conduct a threat assessment ahead of elections and that voting systems be tested nine months before any national election.

And the legislation creates security standards for voting machine vendors, including that they must be owned by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

The Republican senate failed to take up the Secure Elections Act, sponsored by Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and James Lankford (R-Okla.), aimed at securing election systems from cyberattacks. The senators have said they will reintroduce the legislation this legislative session.  Good.

I hope this H.R.1 becomes law -- it also requires political donation sources to be made public, which would make 'dark money' a thing of the past and deter elected representatives from putting donors' and lobbyists' interests above those of the people they're sworn to serve.  In addition, it does away with the electoral college so that the peoples' vote determines the President.

I think the Democrat-controlled House will pass H.R.1.  But, I very seriously doubt the Republican-controlled Senate will consider and pass it because I don't think President Trump will support it and the Senate either forgot or doesn't care that it has a constitutional responsibility to serve the people (not the Executive or the donor class).

I really hope that McConnell and company shock the shit outta me and consider/vote in favor H.R.1.
