MID-TERM ELECTIONS
(11-08-2018, 12:42 PM)HairOfTheDog Wrote: I see that the White House pulled Jim Acosta's press pass after the press conference for 'laying hands on a staffer".  Bullshit, he simply didn't allow the staffer to grab the microphone out of his hands mid-sentence.

Here's the exchange in slow mo.

I see some of the right-wing sites are claiming Acosta 'pysically assaulted a staffer'. Hysterical drama-mongers. Crying-into-tissue

The White House, specifically Sarah Slanders, has released a chopped video saying it's the real deal and it depicts what went down. They know that we know they are lying and they don't care, they like that we know. That hayseed won't be in DC forever, good people better remember what a lying cunt she is. Shun that cow.

I just saw the doctored video.

Sarah Sanders shared a video from batshit conspiracy site InfoWars claiming it was truth, in order to disparage a journalist.

She has no credibility whatsoever.

Man. They all make me feel so goddamn vulgar. I don't have this reaction to normal people, ya know, the respectable kind.

The Democrats have increased their House seat gains to 28. There are still several races pending final tallies, including in California.

The Republicans lost a seat yesterday that they'd previously claimed as a victory.

Yesterday, New Mexico Attorney Xochitl Torres Small defeated her Republican opponent Yvette Herrell. Herrell had prematurely declared victory on Tuesday. Torres Small did not concede because absentee votes had not been counted.

“We had an unprecedented amount,” Doña Ana County Clerk Amanda Lopez Askin said. “We weren’t expecting it, and we frankly didn’t have the people infrastructure in place.”

The results have now been certified by New Mexico’s secretary of state.

The seat had been left vacant by GOP Rep. Steve Pearce, who ran for governor. He was defeated by his Democratic challenger Michelle Lujan Grisham.

I don't know anything about a doctored video but I saw the press conference and Jim should have given her the microphone and his pass needs to be pulled. The fucking idiot

Acosta is an aggressive commentator. I would not call him a reporter and he makes it about himself quite a bit, so did Obama and so does Trump. But he really should have quit when he was told to. That mike should have left his hands right away, that is why they do the toss the mike thing so they each have a chance. Acosta should not be with the same group of Journalists because he is not one and I'm glad he got tossed on his ass.

Three more House races have been called.

Democrats defeated their Republican opponents in each, bringing the Dems' House seat gains to 31.

Twelve races are still pending final vote counts.

The "New" in "New Mexico" can stay put Mags, unless some overly dramatic extremist succeeds in legally getting it removed, which is highly unlikely.

Torres Small favors comprehensive immigration reform, more and better border security (but not The Wall), and a path to citizenship for DACA recipients.

She grew up in a family of gun owners and wants to see background checks expanded, loopholes closed, more focus on mental health issues, and better enforcement of gun laws.  She does not support repeal of the Second Amendment.

If you're interested in her positions on other key issues, you can find a quick recap here:  https://www.abqjournal.com/1167022/2nd-congressional-district-candidate-xochitl-torres-small-2.html

There are some republicans complaining about the votes being counted. Marco is moaning and clutching his pearls in that feminine way that he has, Rudy is bleating that it's Secretary Clinton's fault 28 Rick Scott is shouting VOTES ARE BEING COUNTED in the same tone one would scream THROATS ARE BEING SLIT. Ahahahaha! It's pitiful. It's hilarious. It only serves to reinforce my already poor opinion of them all.

Wherever these votes are coming from should also have republican votes in them. The Broward county officials are a bit underhanded as they are not saying how many votes they have or how they are being transcribed. When they get a ballot that may be a little ripped or have coffee stains on them they transcribe those ballots to a new one then place them in the voting machine. The problem with that is they are supposed to be witnessed by 2 other officials and Broward was caught not doing that before. They are doing all this behind closed doors with no oversight.

That's a perfect description of what went down in Georgia with their republican SoS who also happened to be one of the candidates!

All legally cast votes should be counted and the media should stop calling races before mailed-in, absentee, and provisional votes are tallied, unless the election-day vote count indicates a blowout margin of victory which is impossible to close.

It should not matter if the untallied votes are presumed to favor Republicans or Democrats. All votes should be counted, period.

And, candidates should not concede until all votes are counted unless it's certain that there aren't enough untallied ballots to make up a large election day margin of victory.

--New Mexico's Trump-supported House candidate prematurely claimed victory Tuesday night before all votes were counted. She actually lost the race.

--Republican Ron DeSantis may have his victory retracted as his lead margin over Democrat Andrew Gillum (who prematurely conceded) for Florida governor has now been reduced to under .5%. If that holds after all the votes are tallied, a recount will be undertaken.

--Democrat Bill Nelson has picked up enough votes since Tuesday night to be within .25% of Republican Rick Scott for Florida Senate. Nelson is not conceding until every vote is counted. Rick Scott's claim that there's a 'liberal' plot to change the results is bullshit political theater, as is Marco Rubio's support of that conspiracy theory. I don't expect any different from Rick Scott, but I do from Marco Rubio. Just count the votes and audit the results, fair and square.

--Democrat Kyrsten Synema has taken the lead over Republican Martha McSally for Arizona senate by nearly 10,000 votes since Tuesday, but there are still hundreds of thousands of votes from Maricopa County untallied (many of which may be for McSally -- hard to know). It's too close to call, so it's good that it's not been prematurely called.

--While Republican Brian Kemp has claimed victory over Stacey Abrams for Georgia governor, it's not an official win yet as the vote count is close, not all votes have been tallied, and thus Abrams hasn't conceded.

Broward County’s Elections Department will receive special attention from state officials this November after a series of glitches, mistakes, and one case of illegal ballot destruction has some voters wondering if they should even trust the results coming out of the elections department telling them to “vote with confidence” on Nov. 6.

Following a court ruling in May that Broward Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes had illegally destroyed ballots from a 2016 congressional race, the governor’s office announcedthe Florida Department of State would send election experts to Snipes’ office during this year’s election “to ensure that all laws are followed” and “to observe the administration of the election.”

Broward incompetence

Brenda Snipes is a fraud. They need to have an independent source count Broward County or she will make up the tally.

Count ALL the votes and audit the results.

If there's a problem not related to innocent human error, hold the responsible parties responsible.

Don't accuse another party or people of fraud without evidence just because they want all votes counted. All citizens should want all votes counted.

Democrats, on the whole, irritate me when it comes to elections because they can score a major victory and be convinced that they somehow failed..............until the evidence that they've prevailed is cited over and over again and finally sinks in.  Defeatists.

Republicans, on the whole, irritate me when it comes to elections because they often declare victory when they've clearly lost a whole lot more than they've gained.  Propagandists.

Independents rule!   Awink
