The closet thing I have to a ghetto here is a side street that runs for 3-4 blocks. I use it as a shortcut to get through town because traffic is always backed up. I wave to everyone I pass, they'd recognize me, I'd be fine.

This is not just people being mean to others-

The man, black or not should not have been asked to leave the shop where he was just doing a job and not doing a crime.

Also- agsin- this isn't just about people being mean- it is about people losing their life.

Didn't you say that? Some kids got arrested or kicked out of a store for being black. Not for loitering or because some hare-brained loser suddenly thought they were potential threats or whatever. No it was because they were black.

Growing up I was constantly out with my mates and more often than I can count I would have police officers come and hassle shit out of us for no reason other than they were arseholes and were of the belief no doubt that they had to keep these young boys in check. As an older man I would have happily got badge numbers and names and read them the riot act and I have done this in more recent years but when you are a 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 year old you really do not have that maturity or self-confidence.

So were the cops doing this to be arseholes? IF I was black would them doing this to me be because I was black? How would you know?

This is why I am not happy with anecdotes. Plenty you can ascribe an intent of racism which is as easily explained with the description of arsehole. Describe everything as because someone is a racist by all means and use this perception to be a cultural pathology and good luck with that filter and that narrative.

I happen to believe that most people are arseholes and MANY of those arseholes are racists. But I think it is like murderers, pedophile and rapists, they DO exist, the threat IS there, it is NOT unfounded BUT the fear and its factual existence leads many to see it everywhere and attribute it as a larger cultural issue than it is.

If that upsets, triggers, or offends anyone, let me repeat.
Look, mister. Racism is alive & well in the United States. It's not hidden away, it's blatant and it happens everyday across America. There IS such a thing as white privilege, it's a fact of life here. You don't have to believe it, many Americans don't, you, and them, are being willfully ignorant, again, you don't have to believe it, neither do they but it's a fact nonetheless.

Are you mansplaining to me? I read Love Child's description of what manspalining is and presuming the Internet adage

I think you checked all the boxes. Smiley_emoticons_razz

(BTW I retort to what you actually put to me is in the paragraph above you quote)

Do you watch South Park? I caught the latest episode this weekend and it made me chuckle.

To be a feminist is simply to believe that everybody should be treated equally, regardless of sex. It means you think that there should be equality of the sexes economically, socially, politically and personally. When you put it like that, it’s surely difficult for anybody to deny being a feminist. But for such a simple concept, it is often dramatically misunderstood.

No, I don't, but a long time ago I saw a tiny portion of it, it was an episode around the holidays and I remember one of the characters shouting SCREW THE POOR. I laughed & laughed, it was just so inappropriate and it amused the hell out of me. I'm not sure why given I think that's a horrible thing to say for fucks sake.

That was maddening reading all of that again. He thought I said kids were asked to leave a shop, it was a grown man doing his job for fucks sake!

And just think of all the incidents that have happened since the first post of this thread. I just started reading "How to be an antiracist" by Ibram Kendi. A black man who says that he himself is racist. He talks about the difference of individual racism verses systemic racism. And how it is important to call out both, but especially important to recognize and call out systemic racism. He says we can all be racist at some point. We can be "not a racist" one day and have a racist thought the next. It doesn't mean we are bad or good-but what is important is looking at the disparity in our society.

So, thats okay Maggot, go ahead and go back to sleep.

Oh Why

Sorry, I couldn't resist

Oh but I'm pissed!

I'm a white person

Standing up for a black person

brown person

every person

except that person

What am I going to do now?

I'm so woke now!

I see it all now!

I need glasses now

and a mega phone

and a helicopter drone

to tell everyone

about Black Lives

and Gay Rights

and Womens Rights

and I'm gonna tell everybody

that they are somebody

They aren't nobody

unless they're that body

I can't please everybody

I can't be everybody

But I can be This Body

So take it to the grave

we all die the same

return to the earth

Another year of birth

I get to breathe the air

Because I don't care

You act like you do

but you are doo doo

and your privilege

and your white cape

and you might hate

everybody

because nobody

shows love

but somebody

from above

that is what "they" say

filled with rage

locked in a cage

for your safety

for your comfort

But don't be black.

This is good

The constant display of ignorant arrogance,  along with his habit of calling everyone who disagrees with him 'dishonest, disingenuous, hypocritical, *insert other personal insult here*...." has gone from sadly funny on occasion to consistently boring -- I don't find it stimulating or funny in any way.

Anyhow, I'm glad that bullshit doesn't deter anyone from posting however and whatever they see fit and having fun in here.  While FryGuy's fixation with me personally is  more intense and creepy, it doesn't negatively affect or concern me.  I apathetically accept it for what it is.

Yes, I have, she's very busy and I understand that, she has a fuck ton of responsibility. I haven't reached out to her lately because I've been concerned about coming across as pushy & obnoxious. I think so much of her and I would never want her to view me like that. Ugh.
