A note about Corona.
#21
Blood oxygen levels below 55% would make a person pass out. Most people have at least 98%
They must be using some other type of scale but my blood oxygen right now is 97%

I had a spontaneous pneumothorax at the age of 24 and was in the hospital for two weeks with a chest tube. Basically my lung popped a hole and collapsed for no known reason whatsoever. Normally a pneumothorax is caused by trauma, but in rear cases like me it can have no known cause. The pain was excruciating and I could feel the air bubbles in my chest escaping my lung, but strangely I could breath fine. Once my lung pumped back up I never had any problems again. It was scary, however. I didnt think I was going to die, I knew I was going to die.

: ( That sounds terrible.

There is a video circulating where a doctor talks about wiping groceris off and how to bring them into your house. I gotta admit I am doing a low-key version of this and after watching that video I wiped everything down. It felt wierd, but I did it.

Then I saw this video with Trevor Noah asking Dr Fauci some questions, he addresses that question-Dr Fauci said to be more concerned about washing hands and not touching your face. He does talk about how long the virus does last in the air and on surfaces.

I have had a hunch about Corona and the U.S. verses Italy and China-and that is that perhaps Americans could get through this easier than some countries. My hope has been that perhaps we are healthier and though we will have many cases-perhaps we won't have very many deaths.

I watched this video and think Corbett makes some points about pollution in Italy and Italy's age and mortality rate. He is saying people died "with Corona" but not "from Corona"
I don't know who James Corbett is-seems to be a conspiracy guy, I don't know anything about mortality rates in all countries, or pollution rates, but these are things I have kept in the back of my head wondering about the contributing factors to deaths and recoveries and still holding out hope.

Also I am still wondering if many of us had this this past winter or not. But what I am hearing from anyone who has been sick with it-it is really really painful, so I'm not so sure.

I like to look at varying perspectives and consider them.

From my perspective, what I see (on the news, and here in Florida's RL scene) is "many" Americans don't seems to give a s_ _ _
about following rules, suggested, or otherwise. (Even if those rules are made to help "Save their lives!)

Yesterday, around 2 pm, I took a drive around my neighborhood just to get out and also to run the car to keep everything lubricated.
Anyway within going less than a mile, I saw a group of 4 women walking not only closer then the 6 feet apart from each other requirement,
but hugging and two holding hands.

Then, a short distance further, I saw a group of 7 people all crowded together, like one foot apart, don't know why! (Stupid)

On the news I saw people holding House parties, with 35 to 40 people all crammed into a single room!

It's evident these people don't care!

It's likely some of those people, will soon become a statistic! (By their own doing!)

Italy and Spain are being hit very hard by Covid-19 in terms of infection and mortality rates, even though they've been ranked #1 and #2 in term of healthiest countries.  The U.S. ranked #35.

Tobacco use is higher in those countries than in the U.S., but eating habits and health care access are better in Italy and Spain and there is much less obesity.

It will be valuable to learn what has contributed most to how countries fared against this terrible respiratory virus when all is said and done:  smoking rates, governmental response and messaging, social distancing practices, general healthiness, average population age, a combination of some or all............?

That's my experience here too. Again today I was so disappointed to see the number of people out, Lowes was packed when I drove by. Lots of cars on the road and full parking lots nearly everywhere except restaurants. WTF are people thinking. Jesus.

They're thinking they need to get groceries, to start their cars, get out of the house/apartment for a little while, check the mail. Maybe even break the social distancing and smoke cigars with your brother and a friend on a Saturday then stay overnight at his house and drink some liquor and beer while you watch a movie or two.

I read that 99% of Covid-19 deaths in Italy all had serious underlying health problems. Like cancer and heart disease. I don't know how true that is, however.

I read that a while back too, but think it's been proven wrong as more data has become available.

One thing for sure, Italy is measured as one of the healthiest countries with long life spans.  It's second only to Japan in terms of percentage of seniors in the general population.

So, since older age = more likely to suffer/die if infected with Covid-19, it makes sense that Italy would have a higher mortality rate than other countries with similar infection levels.

And, since Italy started social distancing and testing late (and thus the initial testing was done on those who were already showing symptoms rather than overall population samples), the initial mortality rates  for Italy may be inflated and get lower as more of its population is tested, confirmed to be infected, and survive.

Anyway this is a really good piece that was just released; it covers the variances between reported infection rates and mortality rates across countries.  https://www.vox.com/2020/4/1/21203198/co...outh-korea

i know this may be morbid but can artificially killing off a great percentage of the old people on the planet be a boon for the economy

That is crazy cars! I haven't heard of any of that going on around here, I think it is being taken pretty seriously in this state (with some exceptions)

Duchess, i heard a lot of people are doing home remodeling or house projects since they are locked up.

Big Mark-Do you not have any older relatives? I don't know what it is about people asking questions like this-or making comments such as yours, it makes me sick to my stomach. Perhaps you are saying DT has that as his goal-I don't know. I often don't know what your angle is.
