Boon for the economy maybe, but just think of all the lost wisdom and experience. We will all be even bigger idiots and dumbasses than we are now.

God damn, it's nice to see someone say that. Most cultures respect and even revere their elderly precisely for the reasons you listed but this country despises them. It's a tragedy how so many elderly are left to fend for themselves when they're sick and poor and here's Mark casually suggesting they should be killed off. Fucking asshole.

I meant that this virus is the thing artificially killing them off, it was an observation and in no way meant to suggest such a thing. It would however result in a gigantic redistribution of wealth and no I would not receive anything.

I may be a lazy asshole in most cases, but my mama raised me right to respect women and the elderly.

It’s a morbid thought alright.

In any case, I don’t think it would be a net plus for the economy if something so culturally devastating were to happen.

Government social security $$ obligations  would be reduced dramatically, of course.  But, the recipients and/or their deceased spouses have already paid into that pool and are entitled to it.

And, senior citizens spend serious money on a whole lot of consumer goods/markets  that younger people don’t need.

Plus, grandparents provide child-care  for a good percentage of families where both parents have to work just to make ends meet, since wages have been stagnant for like three decades in the US.

So, the government would need to provide socialized childcare or mandate a significant raise in wages or decrease in taxes to keep the markets flowing if a great percentage of senior citizens were to perish (accidentally or by intention).

I was in the hospital room when the doctor informed my father he has pancreatic cancer, this is pretty much a death sentence. Most people live only a few weeks after this prognosis. I still get emotional listening to this song.

Yeah I get emotional hearing that song too. Dad was a state worker, worked in Social Services. He never really spent alot of time with us as kids. Had to learn to shave by myself. Still dont know how to ride a bike. Still I love my Dad and I'll be sad when he dies from leukemia in a few years.
