JOGGING WHILE BLACK
#21
Oh, I dunno, maybe he thought the good ole white boy was gonna shoot his ass and in a desperate attempt not to die, he tried to stop the fucker from shooting him? What would you do, offer to suck him off?

Are you victim blaming BigMark?

I wonder what he was wearing?

Either way-once you see or hear that someone  has a gun-if you run-duh, you are shot dead. WTF. And if he had a gun like the shooters say they "thought he had" he probably would have used it on them.

26 year old.
Out running.

Arbery was trying to avoid and run away from the McMichaels for some time.

Eventually, the McMichaels got ahead of Arbery and blocked him off while confronting him with shotguns.

I don't see where Arbery had any option other than to try to defend himself.  Too bad he didn't succeed in the two (or three) against one confrontation and he was instead shot dead.

Anyway............in the latest updates, GBI Director Vic Reynolds said he couldn't speak to why other agencies hadn't acted earlier and added, "I'm very comfortable in telling you that there's more than sufficient probable cause in this case for felony murder."

It appears both Travis McMichael and his father Gregory McMichael are incarcerated -- no bond yet set.

Also, the third person involved in the chase (William 'Roddy' Bryan, who reportedly shot the video) is claiming that he was just an unarmed witness, not a participant, and that he showed the police at the scene his video 'immediately'.

When asked why Bryan followed and filmed the attack, his attorney said 'he was trying to get [Arbery's] picture... because there had been a number of crimes in this neighborhood and he didn't recognize him and a vehicle that he did recognize was following him.'

However, Glynn County Police Lt. Cheri Bashlor confirmed Friday that no burglaries had been reported in the neighborhood in the seven weeks leading up to Arbery's death.

There was only one burglary report recently, on January 1st, whereby a gun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.  That truck belonged to none other than the McMichaels.

Do you think for one moment that skin color has any relevance to your answer?

Not for me, did I say I was white?

He was black in southern America. Jogging while black. You're a white middle class guy.

A long time ago Love Child posted a thread about white privilege. At the time I had never heard that expression before but I've paid more attention since then and I see it nearly daily depending on what I'm reading about. There is a tremendous difference between the lives of white Americans as compared to black and brown Americans. There just is.

Too funny, you make a lot of assumptions.

Because I think you look white? If you're brown but look white, that matters.

The McMichaels claim that they chased, confronted, and killed Arbery because they considered him suspicious and acted in self-defense in the course of attempting to make a citizen's arrest.

That gave them an excuse (in Georgia) for pursuing Arbery, detaining him, threatening him with firearms, and shooting him dead.  And, it gave their friends in LE a justification for not investigating further for two months.

However, we don't know if a citizen's arrest was really their original intention.  And, even if it was, a citizen's arrest typically requires the citizens to witness the suspect committing a crime or encountering someone identified as a 'wanted suspect' by LE........neither of which was the case here.

Plus, assuming the 'citizen's arrest attempt' narrative is true........how would Ahmaud Arbery know that?  He was jogging or running down the street near his home when suddenly two dudes with shotguns in a truck were in hot pursuit of him.

I don't know what it feels like to be a black man, in the south or anywhere else, but I imagine I'd have done everything in my power to get away if I was Ahmaud Arbery and I would certainly have felt my life was in jeopardy when I was cut off in the road with shotguns pointed at me.

Seems likely to me Arbery's normal survival instincts kicked into gear -- first he tried flight, then he was forced to fight.

Anyway...........now that the GBI is on the case, rather than local LE with tight ties to the McMichaels, there's a much higher likelihood that a thorough investigation will be conducted and more verifiable details as to what went down will emerge.

You are correct. I made an assumption. Apologies.

I get annoyed when people say what the victim could have done or should have done. It is great that you think you would have survived that situation.

I found a thread on FB where a lady addresses #runwithmaud where she applauded people running for 2.23 miles, but she said take it further. Run in neighborhoods that make you uncomfortable, come back and talk about it. Get involved, make purchases from their stores, advocate.

There is another video where a man (white) is brandishing a small axe in front of the cops, and they simply smack his arm with a baton. They don't restrain him, they don't get him on the ground, they do nothing. But so many black men are shot "because I thought he had a weapon"

It is sad and very upsetting.

The fact that you're still here doesn't necessarily make you any smarter or more innocent than the millions of people who found themselves facing a gun barrel and wound up dead.

It definitely makes you luckier though.

You can't really do shit in this world black or white without taking chances, it's just what the media chooses to make a deal of if so it gets noticed. In this case I think it's bullshit, but a couple of white guys here were doing construction work in the ghetto and a crazy black guy bludgeoned them to death with a hammer, but I'm sure no one heard about that.

Unfortunately, you are correct. I have not heard about that. Perhaps if it was not race related it didn't make the news.

I tried looking it up even and couldn't find it. (but found several hammer deaths, assaults and construction deaths!) I wasn't sure which one it was.

Ahmaud's case is getting news because there is a video-
and because it happened in Feb and it took 74 days for an arrest to be made-if there was no video these guys would be walking free for just killing someone they say they felt threatened by.

That is the kind of thing that should be talked about.

I know you don't take a fist to a gunfight. I got into a fight with two cholos, the pussies pulled out a pistol and I ran to my jeep hitting the gas laid out across the seat.

I had to look up the definition of cholo.
