Great. Fuckin' jury fraud
#1
This has been verified by the FBI (their link is also included below).
Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call. Most of us take those summonses for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of fraud has surfaced.

The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo; your identity was just stolen.

The fraud has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma, Illinois, and Colorado. This swindle is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they are with the court system. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud.

You should never give your SS# out to anyone and in fact you do not have to give it to employers either for their personal records.
They only need it on the tax forms which you fill out and these should be kept secure and private.

NO organization should be given your SS# for identification on applications to something like a job or anything that is not directly related to you like a bank account AT the bank or your paycheck.

Utilities do not necessarily need this info on you.

This scam is just further proof of how stupid people are. NO ONE gets my SS# over the phone for ANYTHING. If you are so fucking retarded that you fall for it, maybe you deserve the shit. Like Bullet tells some; if anyone ever stole your identity, they'd only be charged with petty theft. Cracks me up, he does. ::bigg::

Many of these vultures prey on the elderly.

If you receive such a call simply keep them on the line as long as you can, then hang up, dial *57 and follow the prompts and take down the information given. Then call the police and tell them all the info given from the reverse trace.
