AIKEN, SC (AP) - A judge has denied bond for the man charged with shooting an Aiken police officer to death.
A magistrate on Monday ordered that 26-year-old Joshua Tremaine Jones remain jailed on a murder charge. Bond was set at $10,000 on a weapons charge, and the judge scheduled Jones' next hearing for March 9.
Jones was arrested after police said he shot an officer responding to a report of suspicious activity. Master Cpl. Sandra Rogers died at a hospital Saturday. She had been with the Aiken Public Safety department for nearly 28 years.
Police say Jones had killed his girlfriend, 21-year-old Cayce Vice, in her Augusta, Ga., apartment, and then fatally shot Rogers.
Jones' father has said his son has mental problems. who gives a shit.

AIKEN GA— The man accused of fatally shooting an Aiken police officer was released from a mental facility last fall after shooting himself in the head, the man’s father told a judge during his son’s first court appearance on Monday.
During that hearing, a magistrate judge ordered that Joshua Tremaine Jones, 26, remain jailed on a murder charge. Jones’ bond was set at $10,000 on a weapons charge, and his next hearing was scheduled for March 9.
Jones has been held at the Aiken County jail since Saturday, when he was arrested at his Batesburg home. Authorities say Jones shot Master Cpl. Sandra Rogers earlier that day when she responded to a report of suspicious activity. The 28-year veteran of the Aiken Department of Public Safety died Saturday at a hospital.
Before shooting Rogers, police say Jones killed his girlfriend, 21-year-old Cayce Vice, in her Augusta, Ga., apartment.
Jones’ father, who has said his son has mental problems, told the judge Monday that his son shot himself in the head last year and was later treated at a mental facility before being released last fall. James Jones also told WRDW-TV that his son stabbed him at age 16 and that he fears the public will think his son is an “even bigger monster” because of the current charges against him.
Jones also told the station his son had been dating Vice since October and that she was five weeks pregnant when she died.
Media outlets reported that Jones was shaking and stumbling when he was brought into the courtroom Monday, wearing an orange and white striped jail jumpsuit and handcuffs and mouthing obscenities to reporters in the courtroom. He did not have an attorney.
Jones has an arrest record in South Carolina that includes an arrest last year for carrying a concealed weapon and lying to authorities. He served four months in jail in 2009 for several offenses, including assault and battery and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jones has no recent prison record in Georgia, according to state and local records there.
Cayce Vice’s father, Howard Vice, did not immediately return phone calls on Monday, but he told The Augusta Chronicle that his daughter had just turned 21 on Wednesday and was a few weeks pregnant when she died.
Vice told the paper he had been living with his daughter and Jones until last month, when they had a falling out. He said Jones beat his daughter a few weeks ago, and showed the newspaper a photo of his daughter’s battered face.
“There’s something wrong with a man when he stays in his bedroom all day long and don’t come out,” Howard Vice said. “I knew there was something wrong.”

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -
Two deputies were shot during a raid of a suspected meth lab in Middleburg on Thursday evening. One of those deputies and a suspect shot as he ran from the scene both died, according to Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler.
The second deputy was also hit by gunfire in the incident on Alligator Boulevard just after 6:30 p.m.
Beseler identify the deputy killed as David White, 35, a detective and nine-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office.
"Detective White ... was literally one of the best officers we had," Beseler said. "He will be sorely missed."
White was the first Clay County deputy to be killed in the line of duty in 99 years.
The second detective, Matt Hanlin, was struck in the arm and was taken to Orange Park Medical Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
"This is the darkest day in the history of this agency," Beseler said after visiting the shooting scene.
The suspect's name has not been released.
Five people were arrested at the scene, and authorities said at least some of them may have been staying at the house without the knowledge or permission of the owners.
"Right now the focus of all the members of the Sheriff's Office and the members of the community is with the family of those two officers," Beseler said. "We just ask for everyone's prayers."
The Clay County Sheriff's Office will observe an agency-wide moment of silence at 9 a.m. Friday, which will include radio silence for patrol members.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be the lead agency in the investigation of the police-involved shooting and will also assist in the clean up of the drug lab.
my Dept. was there.

Trooper's car

SEATTLE (AP) — A Washington state trooper making a routine traffic stop was shot and killed early Thursday, and dozens of officers canvassed the area looking for the shooter.
The trooper had stopped a pickup around 1 a.m. Thursday about 20 miles west of Seattle across Puget Sound, and radioed the location and license plate number, said Trooper Russ Winger.
When the trooper didn't respond to status checks, a Kitsap County sheriff's deputy went to the scene and found the trooper outside his patrol car.
He was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma where he was declared dead.
Three hours later, officers found the truck abandoned on a county road near Port Orchard, about two miles from the shooting scene.
Troopers, deputies and other officers searched the area for the driver using dogs and questioning people. They urged residents to stay inside and call 911 if they saw anything suspicious.
Dogs did not pick up a track, Winger said.
Investigators know who the truck is registered to, but don't know if that person is a suspect in the shooting, Winger said.
"It's obviously a high priority and drawing a lot of attention," said Sgt. Ken Dickinson. "We're looking for whoever is associated with that truck."
The slain trooper is a veteran who worked out of Bremerton.
"He worked in the Kitsap area for quite some time," Winger said. "He was a co-worker of mine."
No other information would be released until his family was notified, said Bob Calkins, patrol spokesman. Dozens of patrol cars with lights flashing escorted an aid car carrying the trooper's body about 6:30 a.m. Thursday from the hospital to the Pierce County medical examiner's office.
edit to add:
SEATTLE – A possible suspect in the shooting death of a Washington State trooper during a traffic stop early Thursday shot himself hours later as police closed in, authorities said.
A SWAT team was approaching the house in Port Orchard where they hoped to find the registered owner of the pickup truck the trooper had stopped. They heard a shot and found the man with a self-inflicted wound. He was taken to a Tacoma hospital, where his condition was unknown.

RIP Trooper Tony Radulescu
![[Image: 2017577544.jpg]](http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/ABPub/2012/02/23/2017577544.jpg)
Friends said Radulescu was born in Bucharest, Romania, and moved to the U.S. when he was 14. He was fluent in Korean, Italian, Spanish, English and Romanian.
"It's a very sad day for the Washington State Patrol," said Batiste. "He was a father and peer to many of us who was dearly loved. He served this country in the military and was with this organization for about 16 years."
Batiste said that he has spoken with Radulescu's son.
Batiste said that Radulescu "had a great personality, a real sense of humor" and was highly sought after to speak at local schools in the community. He said that the man's son is in the military.
"We're all hurting, I'm hurting," Batiste said.

So sad, i just turned on the news and saw coverage of this. They were showing overhead coverage of the hospital and just tons of police officers and their vehicles outside and then a procession following the ambulance going somewhere (i'm not sure if it was to or from the hospital) it was just very sad and touching at the same time, the respect that police officers have for their own. It is nice to see that family aspect but i hate to see that it is because one of their own is down. I have many police officers in my family and it makes me very sad to think that i could lose a brother, cousin, aunt, uncle etc. and it can happen so easily because of these assholes that just don't give a shit. I couldn't do what they do but i appreciate them so much.
