I took blankets and candles downstairs already.

The next county over (northern part) is going to get slammed. The tornado from Tuscaloosa is still active and is crossing into Georgia now.

The school system in Rome, GA just gave warning to get underground there. It will hit in about 30 minutes. I know my best friend is freaking right now. She is in her basement for sure.

That tornado is going to hit Rome anytime. There IS still a tornado on the ground.

We are expected to get the cell in about an hour.

TORNADO 13 miles West of Etna, moving NE at 60 mph

They are starting to hit them now. There is a BIG ASS tornado hitting Cave Springs/Rome moving 60 MPH. There are four or five behind it that will hit my area, but they aren't as huge. This one is reported to be about a mile wide.

3D weather maps are amazing. You could see the funnel coming up from the hook on the ground in HUGE super cells. Very tall storms are the ones that fuck you up.

32 dead so far.

frightening shit.

in florida one took the roof off my immediate next-door neighbor's house, they were usually spawned by hurricanes, but not always. this has been a week from hell for much of the U.S.

don't wait too long to seek safety. i know you won't.

my sister-in-law just wrote this to me:

The first system skirted us thank God! However apparently there is a super cell coming up from the south headed toward DC and the weather people are saying that the atmosphere is unstable and will be all night! So we are not completely out of the woods yet...

It isn't losing steam. It is freaking huge. It isn't only the tornado, it's the huge hail and high winds that are downing trees and causing damage.

Half a house gone and 2 trailers missing by Rome. :(

People reported missing.

State by state damage here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42777780/ns/weather/

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said the state's death toll from violent storms Tuesday and Wednesday is now 11.
Jeff Rent, a spokesman for the agency confirmed the number Wednesday night and said there have been more than 40 injuries. Meanwhile, authorities said a possible tornado heavily damaged much of the town of Smithville in Monroe County.

"The same areas keep getting hit over and over again," said spokesman Jeff Rent.

A police officer on a camping trip was killed while shielding his daughter when the storm ripped through a state park in northern Mississippi. The victim, from Covington, La., was not immediately identified.

"He covered his daughter with his body when the storm came through to protect her. A tree limb fell and hit him in the head, killing him. The daughter was not hurt. She was still at the campground waiting for family to arrive," Choctaw County Coroner Keith Coleman said.

Cracker, please let us know as soon as you can that you are safe.

Ringgold, GA hit hard.

Four more hours then this mess of storms will be moving on. Good thoughts for our neighboring states. I hope this shit blows over soon.

Death toll at 64.

It's going to be bad in the morning when the sun comes up. Right now they are having to leave bodies where they lay so they can rescue trapped people.

We were supposed to get hit by strong storms 2 days in a row, but we just got a whole bunch of rain. I was disappointed because I love storms, but if that was what was coming for me I'm glad we only got rain.

What a-hole left a dog tied to a tree in that monster storm? From cnn.com : "...one tree that had been uprooted and tossed still had a dog alive, tied to it. Partridge said he freed the dog and gave it to a family to take care of."

The storm passed north of me and it wasn't too bad at my house but the skies looked like a fireworks show with all the lightning in the distance. Literally hundreds of strikes lighting up the sky. I've never seen anything like it. It was eerily beautiful.

Ironically it is a glorious sunny day here in Georgia amidst all the devastation.
