Phylicia Barnes~NC teen missing in Baltimore
#21
This sounded so bad from the outset that I hoped she was being held by someone so there was a possibility she'd escape or be found. But now that we know she's dead, I hope it happened immediately.

Sounds pretty well preserved in that cold water since they can still see her tattoos. I wonder if the bodies floated up when they opened the floodgates recently after all that heavy rain. They say the two bodies have similar decomp, so might come from the same timeframe.

Such a mess, I always thought the sister's boyfriend had something to do w/the disappearance. Waiting for more info on this one too.
It's the hint of arsenic that gives it that extra kick.

I guess I suspected this wouldn't end well after all this time. What a shame this young girl met up with the wrong people somehow and somewhere. I believe it was someone who knew her sister and the truth will come out eventually I hope. I hate to see somebody get away with this crap.

Child Porn Link Sought in Teen Phylicia Barnes' Murder

The FBI is investigating whether Phylicia Barnes, the star student from North Carolina whose nude body was found in April, nearly four months after she went missing in Maryland, was a victim of sexual exploitation or child pornographers before her murder.

Federal investigators are seeking warrants to gain access to Facebook and email accounts belonging to Barnes, 16, and to four men from Baltimore, according to a report from ABC News affiliate WSOC-TV in Charlotte, N.C.

According to the Charlotte Observer, FBI Special Agent Jacqueline Dougher wrote in the request for the warrants that investigators have "reason to believe" the search will uncover evidence of child sex crimes or child pornography.

An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Maryland determined her death to be a homicide, the state police said in May.

Posted: 4:01 pm EDT September 6, 2011Updated: 6:25 pm EDT September 6, 2011
BALTIMORE -- Eyewitness News has new details on the investigation into the death of a Monroe teen who was killed while visiting her family in Baltimore.

Channel 9 obtained court documents that show Phylicia Barnes' sister was trying to keep her ex-boyfriend away from her. He was reportedly the last person to see Phylicia alive.

SLIDESHOW: Photos Of Phylicia Barnes

Phylicia was visiting her sister, Deena Barnes, in Baltimore in December when she disappeared. Phylicia's mother, Janice Sallis-Mustafa, told Eyewitness News she only let Phylicia go on the trip because Deena promised that Johnson and other men would not be at the house.

"I had no clue that all of these guys -- she had two or three male roommates and Michael Johnson was still there with a key," Sallis-Mustafa said.

Family members said Johnson and Deena were broken up at the time, but that he was still in and out of her apartment. He was one of several people questioned by police after Phylicia disappeared.

Phylicia Barnes update: Sister's ex-boyfriend denies killing North Carolina teen

Baltimore, Md. - The ex-boyfriend of Phylicia Barnes' half-sister is speaking out through his attorney, saying he had nothing to do with the death of the North Carolina teen.

Phylicia, 17, lived in Charlotte, but was in Maryland visiting her college-age half-sister when she vanished on December 28, 2010. She had gone out to get a bite to eat and possibly to get her hair cut, according to law enforcement.

The last person to see Phylicia was Michael Johnson, her half-sister’s ex-boyfriend, who said she was sleeping on the couch when he left the apartment in the early afternoon hours. She was last heard from when she texted her half-sister around noon that same day. There has been no activity on her ATM card since she vanished.
