Johnny S. Clarke & Lisa Straub- young Ohio couple murdered

After this happened to my son, I lived in the basement for say three years. I didn’t go out in society,” Clarke said. “I never talked to a psychiatrist or received any help for what I saw.”

Clarke discovered Johnny Clarke, 21, and his girlfriend, Lisa Straub, 20, in a Springfield Township home in 2011. Both had been bound and asphyxiated in what was believed to be a home invasion and robbery.

For brief moments in time I have compassion for John.

Thanks for correcting that Butterfly Girl; I misread the article.

If Maytee's Facebook posts and complaints from some witnesses are to be believed, it's also bullshit coming from John since he was out and about harassing people prior to November 2014.

But, I suspect the court already knows that the testimony of both Clarkes was highly self-serving and not exactly the whole truth and nothing but the truth when it comes to Ramirez either.

I hope the court doesn't go too lenient in the sentencing due to sympathy and a desire to pin Ramirez as the main facilitator of the shooting. In my opinion, the Clarkes were going to continue escalating their actions with or without Ramirez. Ramirez is a piece of shit and I hope he's found guilty. But, he didn't pull the trigger and Tiffany's lucky to be alive.

This is an incredible amount of information out there and it's all in Maytee's & John's own words.

When I read the prosecutor use the term "hunting", I knew he had read Maytee.

I do too. I have some compassion for Maytee as well, though less than I do for John. I have compassion for anyone who loses a child.

Too bad the Clarkes resisted all kinds of opportunities to get counseling and treatment. They instead chose to go all vigilante based on their suspicions, neglected Johnny's little brothers, and put people's lives in danger.

They lied to police after the crime as well. I think they both need to do some time, but won't be too surprised if they're put on probation with mandatory counseling and monitoring, especially if Ramirez is convicted.

Yes, they need to do time! Holy cow. It boggles my mind to think they wouldn't be severely punished. Fuck. Threatening and shooting at someone is not okay and it certainly deserves more than a slap on the wrist. Is Toledo lawless? Har Har

It'll be a little hard to swallow if Ramirez and John ending up getting more severely penalized than Maytee. She was the driving force behind the harassment and shooting, in my opinion.

Former TPD officer acquitted of attempted murder, convicted on lesser charges in shooting case

A longtime Toledo police officer accused of taking part in a plan to murder a woman was acquitted by a jury on the most serious charges today, although the jury found him guilty of tampering with evidence, discharging a firearm over a roadway and obstructing justice.

Frank Ramirez, 60, of the 5900 block of Tetherwood Drive, was acquitted of attempted murder and felonious assault in connection with the shooting of Tiffany Williams by John Clarke on Dec. 26, 2014.

The Lucas County Common Pleas Court jury deliberated about six hours before announcing its verdict. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 19. Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gene Zmuda had planned to sentence the Clarkes this morning, but continued the hearing until Sept. 19 at the request of prosecutors and attorneys for the pair.

Well, that was a quick verdict.

Had a feeling the Clarkes' sentencing would be partially dependent on their testimony and the outcome of the Ramirez trial.

I really hope the sentencing for all three goes down as scheduled on September 19th.

Until his sentencing, Ramirez will be monitored electronically.

When you're still getting busted for crimes after you have kids and after one of your kids is murdered, you're probably a lost cause. In my opinion.

I still hope that the testimony in Ramirez's trial reveals some new details pertaining to the murders of Johnny and Lisa.

Totally agree HOTD. I'm still catching up here, been MIA for a while but just found myself wondering if dumb & dumber's (and Ramirez, dumberer?) trial had actually gotten underway yet.

Looks like Maytee was found guilty of something? I saw someone say she deserved more than 9-36 months. Ramirez convicted of a lesser charge?

For fucks sake. God bless the Straub family, I really don't know what else to say right now.

I am still convinced that there is a ton of overlooked information from the 911 calls made by Maytee Clarke on January 31st 2011. Is appears that her well rehearsed calls were full of a lot of information and blaming. First off...she needed medical to respond to her house because her heart is beating out of her chest ans she was worried that something bad might have happened to Johnny and Lisa. Medical actually does arrive at her house...but she doesn't go to the hospital. Instead, she goes over to the Straubs home with a family member (second call)...confronts Tiffany Williams and immediately begins blaming her. Judge for yourself.

5:15 - "oh my god" (needs medical)

7:20 - I want to know where my sons at. I want to know where my son and his girlfriend are at. I want to know if they got abducted by whoever tried to assault them and rob them. (Maytee conversation with dispatcher before the bodies were found).

8:17- I'm with my cousin who's in the military. (this statement was given by Maytee to help add credibility).

8:30 - I have a feeling that you set up my son. My son is missing, he's nowhere to be found. (Maytee confronting Tiffany outside the Straubs home).

11:08 -His moms arguing with me saying I set him up. (Tiffany talking to dispatcher).

I have some catching up to do because I still have a few more pages to read- but this is exactly what I was thinking.

If they both go to jail, they both lose everything they have including the kids. If only one of them goes to prison they might have a chance to save their home and kids.

John might figure he stands a better chance of surviving a prison sentence than Maytee can. My strongest suspicion is that they both agreed that one of them would take the blame and John is prepared to step up and let her off the hook.

As I was catching up and reading over the pages I missed in these months I stepped away, I saw a photo of john that someone posted from a newspaper article and I was shocked. He appears so broken and worn down. I did not recognize him and had to read the name under the photo to be sure it was really him. Just WOW.

As a parent, I cannot help but feel bad for him. No parent would ever want to see their child the way he found his son and Lisa. His wife could not be there for him because she completely lost it. Not saying I blame her. I do not agree with the way she has expressed her grief- not even for a single moment, but I do agree that I would also flip out.

OTD, I am so sorry about your home. Thank God you and your son are okay. I know this happened months ago but I hope you have a new home now or the one you lost has been rebuilt. (hugs)

I LOVE God, but his fan club scares the shit out of me!!!

I don't know how old those kids are but at least one of them is old enough to have fathered a kid of his own and hasn't lived under his parents roof in a long time.

I hope they go to jail and lose every goddamn thing they have. These are not lovely people, they are despicable human beings who don't deserve the air they breathe. They have no redeeming qualities, none. The Straub's lost their daughter in the very same way the Clarke's lost their thug son but you never saw them running around saying & doing the kinds of things John & Maytee did. They deserve to be locked up, they are a menace to society.

It's nice to see you in Mock, Snoopy, it's been a long time.

Some of the photos Maytee has posted on FB show her with a baby. My assumption is that is the next oldest son's. Aiso, the youngest boy was was attending grade school at the parish I belong to. Several months ago he was forced to leave because John and Maytee were causing disruptions . Hard to believe. NOT !!

Thanks, Sonny! Where the hell have you been?

Retired Toledo Police Lt. Frank Ramirez was ordered today to spend four years in prison for obstructing justice and tampering with evidence for his role in what prosecutors portrayed as a botched murder plot.

Ramirez, 60, of the 5900 block of Tetherwood Drive, also was convicted Sept. 7 by a jury of a first-degree misdemeanor charge of discharge of a firearm over a roadway. The jury acquitted Ramirez on more serious charges of attempted murder and felonious assault. He was sentenced to six months in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio for the misdemeanor, but will be allowed to serve that concurrently with his prison term for the felony convictions.

Also today, Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gene Zmuda sentenced John Clarke, 47, of the 400 block of Danberry Street, to four years in prison.

Clarke entered an Alford plea and was found guilty of felonious assault and a one-year firearm specification for firing a shot at Tiffany Williams Dec. 26, 2014. She was not injured.

Clarke's wife, Maytee Vazquez-Clarke, 45, entered an Alford plea and was found guilty of retaliation for her role in the incident. Judge Zmuda sentenced her to two years in prison.

After Vazquez-Clarke was sentenced and removed from the courtroom, Judge Zmuda granted her attorney's request that she be given time to arrange for the care of the couple's 13-year-old son.

The judge said she could report Wednesday morning to begin serving her prison sentence, but he rescinded that after deputies informed the court that Vazquez-Clarke had threatened to kill herself, according to her attorney, Jerome Phillips.

Prosecutors contended Clarke and his wife wanted to kill Ms. Williams because they believed she played a part in their son's murder. Ramirez, they alleged, was a friend who helped the Clarkes “hunt” Ms. Williams and others involved in the 2011 murder of Johnny Clarke, 21, and his girlfriend, Lisa Straub, 20, in Springfield Township.

On the night of the shooting, witnesses testified that Ramirez made arrangements for Ms. Williams to be at an address on Colburn Avenue in South Toledo then gave that information to the Clarkes who went to the location in their van.

Ramirez spent 31 years on the Toledo Police Department, retiring in 2015 after his indictment on the charges. As part of their plea agreements, both of the Clarkes testified at the Ramirez trial.

I consider this a slap on the wrists. I know Judge Zmuda and have always considered him to be very fair. AND, I don't know about the law.

As if her sentencing was a surprise. She should have had arrangements in place. Stupid CUNT! Who thinks Maytee would have offed herself if given the chance?
