Why Toledo is a shithole
#41
As someone who now lives in OH, but is not from OH, I can tell you first hand that yes, OH is in fact a total shithole. Even though I'm "in the toilet", I still can't make up any excuses to prove otherwise, I've tried. It doesn't appear as though any of the locals on the board have presented a valid argument against it either. The facts don't lie, but they do.

Thankfully, I'm still afloat in an overflowing bowl, that is Columbus, and not in the densest bottom of the bowl shittyness that is Toledo.

This is an old thread but I had to comment. Toledo is not a shit hole. We have a beautifull zoo, museum, popular minor league baseball, hockey, new arena, public parks. We have a beautifull Catholic Cathedral. I love experiencing the 4 seasons. We can enjoy the fresh water of Lake Erie. We are 45 minutes from DTW in which you can get direct flights to Paris, Barcelona, San Francisco, etc... It only takes a 20 minute drive to get anywhere. Rarely are you stuck in a traffice jam.

Someone needed to speak up in regards to the good parts of this city. Every city has ugly parts but geeee...i can't have everyone thinking toledo is so bad. It's not. To the people who are sooo unhappy...move, and get a life.

Toledo is what you make of it, but it is a dying city. That is people are dying to get out of here. I am from the glass city as well, and these potholes are gonna swallow up some of these motorcycles this Sunday when it turns 80 degrees. The weather here in little Detroit, is also very strange to say the least, 20 degrees with 3 inches of snow falling by mid evening, to tomorrow being 75 degrees, that is what Stan the Man drunk whiskey nose told me anyways, that's one of our fabolous weatherman we have here. Just think of all the pikers we are gonna see when it gets warm this week, hanging out in their dick shorts, aka hotpants trying to get some action at hooterville our , one of man flaming homosexual all you can eat buffets. BTW google Dick Shorts in Urban Dictonary, read the example, fucking hilarious.

holy shit. Toledo woman falls headfirst into recycle bin and dies. what a shitty way to die. will they recycle her? :O

Mr Decoster told The Blade newspaper of Toledo: 'I just happened to look to the left and, honestly, thought it was a dummy. I shook her leg and called her name, and I knew she was gone.'

The couple, married for 43 years with three daughters, kept their recycling and trash bins next to their porch, which does not have a railing.

Investigators said it looked like Sheila Decoster was standing on her porch when she leaned over, lifted the lid on the bin and fell inside.

Dr Barnett couldn't say how long Mrs Decoster, who was still wearing pajamas, was in the recycling container before she was found, but she had been there for at least several hours.

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Seven IHOP locations were raided in the Toledo area Tuesday morning. The franchise locations are all owned by the same private company, an IHOP spokesperson confirms.

Locations that have been confirmed include:

-Talmadge Road in west Toledo

-Fremont-Pike location in Perrysburg

-Airport Highway

-Central Avenue

Those locations have officers and agents on scene in both marked and unmarked vehicles.

Homeland Security and the FBI are involved in a joint investigation with the Toledo Police Department assisting. They have only revealed so far that it is a closed investigation.

Homeland Security confirms search warrants were issued at 6 a.m. for various IHOP locations.

We have learned they are investigating terrorist accusations including money laundering as well possible illegal workers at many locations across the country right now. It is not yet known if all the locations nationally are IHOP restaurants.

Remember when the International House of Pancakes wasn't like Denny's? They suck as a whole, but if I am forced to eat there I can usually deal with the cheese blintzes.

Toledo is a shithole/terrorist hotspot. Nice. It must seem like paradise to one who has wandered the desert with no water or goats for company.

No.

I go to the Original Pancake House when I'm too lazy to make my own.

And it supports one of my clients.

I don't often make it to Toledo because I loath it so much.
The Original is ok.They used to make a great German Pancake.

Years ago we went to Uncle Johns and well, I almost slipped in the butter all over the floor. The waitresses were walking in it.Of course we left .I wasn't going to eat in a pig pen. I wouldn't let my dog eat there.

I believe the Original Pancake House had a fire, not sure if it has reopened - I did go there years ago they did have a very good German Pancake - the one near Cleveland is very good clean and newer. It's real easy to make your own German Pancake in a cast iron skillet and buy real butter and real maple syrup.

Some of these places Oh! my gosh never ever you have to investigate first before you dine LOL and do as Leo Buscaglia did request to meet the cook if he looks like a hoodrat leave.

It reopened, it did have a fire and after many months of remodeling it reopened. Why are the original pancake house and uncle johns pancake house only separated by a very small car wash? Why are they so close together?

I am from Toledo. I was born in Toledo Hospital. I grew up where South and Airport crisscross.

My family saw the writing on the wall and moved 5 miles away to Maumee, much safer city. I still love Toledo the city. I moved because I hated the people there. They elect the same leaders and wonder why every idea fails. Seriously the same family names that are on city council now were the same last names there in the 1970's.

There are some crown jewels of the city though. The Zoo and University of Toledo lead the way with them. The people of the city revere the zoo, yet ignore the University (Some still call it TU which hasn't been it's name since the 60's). Pretty much the only side of Toledo that's still nice is the West End (not the Old West End).

One of the good things overlooked is fishing on the River. Each spring the biggest walleye (they named the hockey team the walleye formally removing the Utah Jazz as the dumbest name for a sports team ever) come up river to spawn. Taking an 8-10 pound walleye is quite common.

The Walleye run and Toledo Rocket Football games are the only thing left I will recommend people going to Toledo to do. Both are exciting and chances are good at both the people to the left and right of you are NOT from Toledo.

Toledo is not Flint Michigan, YET, but it's getting there at the exponential rate.

Oh I also forgot.

Yes Jamie Farr, aka Cpl Klinger and the Sheik from the Cannonball Run movies, is from Toledo.

Also so is Katie Holmes. She went to one of the female academies while I went to one of the all-guy schools and we graduated the same year so she's all over my year book than even me.

Like most Toledoans when she got older she lost her mind. She doesn't return to the city often and doesn't do anything to help it. Her brother is a real nice guy and an attorney there.

CINCINNATI - A 13-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with the rape of a 5-year-old girl at a local McDonald's.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says the Clermont County boy's parents brought him in to authorities on Thursday where he admitted to the crime.

On Oct. 29, a woman said her granddaughter was playing in the Playland at the McDonald's in the 7600 block of Beechmont Avenue in Anderson Township when she walked out with a look on her face indicating something was wrong. The victim told her grandmother that a boy sexually assaulted her and that he made her touch him inappropriately.

The woman said she saw a boy, possibly between 13 and 15 years of age, leave the Playland after she learned what happened, but before she could comprehend the situation, the suspect was gone.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect Wednesday.

The teen has been charged with one count of rape and will be held at the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center to await further proceedings.

Angela Norman, 42, is charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor in the case surrounding the death of her daughter Makayla

Also charged:Nurse Mollie Parsons treated Makayla for about 10 years before she died, Mary Kilby and Kathryn Williams were also charged with failing to report child abuse, though their connection is unclear

Four women were charged relating to the death of a 14 year old girl with cerebral palsy weighing only 28 pounds when she died of malnutrition.

Makayla Norman was brought to the hospital on March 1 but died just minutes after arriving.

Local reports say that because of Makayla's cerebral palsy, officials were unable to decide the best immediate actions in terms of the investigation. After the autopsy was completed, they focused their investigation on those four women.

The women were arrested in the months following Makayla's death but their charges were only announced today.

Police were called to the family's home in Dayton, Ohio, on March 1 before she was rushed to a local hospital.

"She was the worst malnourished child this office has ever seen," Ken Betz, director of the coroner's office, said Thursday.

She had numerous bed sores and showed other signs of neglect, and the prosecutor described the home as vile and filthy.
