dead at 25. stupid thug.

Toledo police are at the scene of a convenience store robbery in North Toledo where one person has been fatally shot.

The deceased was identified by police as Lamar Allen, 25, of Toledo.

The incident occurred about 9:45 a.m. at the Express Carryout, 1920 Mulberry St.

It was unclear whether the second suspect, who fled the store, was hit by a bullet or got away with any cash. He was last seen running toward Stickney Avenue.

The robbery attempt happened about 9:45 a.m. and just as the store had opened for the morning.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - It was a typical Monday morning. The Express Carryout on Mulberry Street near Page just opened for another day of business.

The quiet morning suddenly turned fatal at around 9:45 a.m.

Police say, two men entered the store at 1920 Mulberry St., intent on getting some cash from the clerk. Armed with guns, they tried to empty the cash drawer. Gunshots were exchanged.

Bond was set at $1 million for a South Toledo man accused of beating an acquaintance to death over the weekend.

Brandon Hoffman, 28, of 333 Chapin St., was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court Monday morning on an aggravated murder charge in the beating death of Scott Holzhauer, 47.

Mr. Holzhauer was pronounced dead about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at his home at 842 Lorain St. in the Old South End, Toledo police said. They believe robbery was the motive for the murder.

Hoffman was ordered held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of the $1 million bond without an option to post 10 percent of the bond and be released. The case was continued until a later date to allow him to hire an attorney.

He was also arraigned Monday morning on theft, criminal damaging, and housing stripping charges stemming from an unrelated incident earlier this month.

Five young men were arraigned Saturday morning in Toledo Municipal Court in the deaths of Darnell Townsend-Tall and Raynail Gaiter.

The men, who are between the ages of 18 and 22, are facing various murder, robbery, and felonious assault charges with Mr. Townsend-Tall's Nov. 7 death and Mr. Gaiter's Nov. 10 death.

Judge Amy Berling set bond for $500,000 for each felony count, public defender James MacHargon said Saturday following the arraignments.

Reynard A. Lewis, 20, of 3815 Revere Dr., is charged with two counts each of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, and felonious assault.

Darrick E. Newsome, 18, of 911 Alvison Rd., is charged with two counts each of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery.

Samojay M. Edwards, 19, of 1123 Noble St., is charged with one count each of murder and aggravated robbery.

Kurt John-Brian Finley, 19, of 220 E. Pearl St., is charged with two counts each of murder and aggravated robbery.

Quandre Eugene Willingham, 22, of 1016 Baker St., is charged with one count each of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, and felonious assault.

Police have said the five suspects grew up together and believe robbery was the motive for the two slayings.

Tyrone Patterson had stayed out of trouble since being released from prison in 2010 after being found guilty of robbery, Ms. Patterson said.

She added that her nephew finished his probation in December and since had been "squeaky-clean." She said she doesn't think his death has anything to do with his criminal past, but that, perhaps, he was the victim of a robbery gone wrong.

Yes I have. The crappie fishing is really good in the campground out there.

Unfortunately it's not recommended that you swim in the beaches there. Most don't know the the Great Lakes tend to "drain" and for Lake Erie it leans to the south. Maumee Bay being upcurrent from the Toledo Water Dept. means the current brings the wash right past Maumee Bay. In years of light rain it's not recommended to swim there.

But as far as the rest of the park is concerned it's very beautiful. The golf course there is awesome too. I've actually recommended to several Marines to stay there.

Camp Perry (a Nat. Guard base) is home to an awesome range because the SDZ (area where bullet's riccochet to the layman) is mostly in Lake Erie. Because of that and the winds they hold the National Rifle Competitions there. Maumee Bay is about 15-20 mins of an easy drive to the Camp.

Although when I go to Lake Erie I primarily like to stay in Port Clinton, a beautiful town. Across the bay is Put-in-Bay which is a nonstop party from May to Sept.

"he was the victim of a robbery gone wrong."

this is the catchphrase of the year.

someone tell me what a robbery gone right is?

where nobody gets killed? oh, OK.

when you carry a weapon to rob people, the assumption is you are willing to use it to murder. someone dies then you spend life in prison or on death row until your stupid gangsta ass is executed. good plan.

They are all excuse making bitches. You reap what you sow in life and while some people are a true victim of circumstance I dare say that chances are that people more often than not put themselves in a position to be a victim of crime.

I don't shed a tear or have any compassion for those that wind up dead because of their lifestyle. Fuck that.

Yeah I don't remember doing much lake swimming there...mostly the pools. or hot tubs.

My aunt/godmother & my uncle just moved out to Port Clinton after having a second house there (in Catawba) for a couple years. I haven't been up there yet though. And actually I've somehow never been to PIB, but I've been to Kelley's Island dozens of times.
