This situation is truly breaking my heart. I can't imagine not knowing where my kids are.

I truly hope she is found, safe and secure.

They both look wrecked. If LE could just get that lead, I think this one will have a happy ending.

I could be wrong though...

I have to say I am very impressed with the way the KCPD and the local media are doing! We are kind of out in the boondocks here. Very quiet and peaceful. We have no crime. Yes, I have been sleeping with my windows open for the last week. So no I would not be surprised if this family was doing the same.

Neighbors are close and nosey in this community:-) You notice all the people are giving interviews. I am not saying that in a bad way. My neighbors look out for me and for that I am thankful. I could see the Mom just pushing the window down without locking it. It's been very hot here for months..so we are all enjoying the cool weather.

"she" meaning baby Lisa's mom? (Deborah Bradley AKA Deborah Netz) she has a 10-month-old and is expecting twins? what is your source?

i understand the babydaddy here may still be married to someone else and may have a paternity suit currently against him. i cannot confirm that however. (Jeremy Irwin)

oh brother. another confusing jerry springer mess. [Image: 45846688jerry.gif]

God I hope this is true!!!!

Police respond to alleged sighting

St. Joseph police have been notified of a couple traveling with a baby who looked similar to missing 10-month-old Lisa Irwin.

Officials said an infant matching her description was seen Wednesday with a middle-aged white male and white female in an older model SUV at the Love’s Travel Stop at the intersection of Interstate 29 and U.S. Highway 169. Their direction of travel was not known.

Cmdr. Jim Connors, head of the St. Joseph Police Department’s detective division, said officials have contacted Kansas City Police, who have requested a copy of the store’s surveillance video.

Also a local here, figured I'd pass along a few links to our local news stations to help out if I can. Believe me, the whole metro area (being both Missouri and Kansas) has been all over this story. KMBC (the ABC affiliate) has been scrolling the Amber Alert information and any other pertinent information for the last 2 days straight (along with their other affiliate channels)

KMBC (ABC affiliate) http://www.kmbc.com/index.html
Live Blog - http://livewire.kmbc.com/Event/Live_Blog...-Month-Old

KSHB (NBC affiliate) http://nbcactionnews.com
Center of their coverage - http://www.nbcactionnews.com/generic/new...MBER-Alert

WDAF (FOX affiliate) http://www.fox4kc.com/

KCTV (CBS affiliate) http://www.kctv5.com/

KMBC and NBC have been on the ball on this story honestly, which is refreshing to see. (Not that we want to have to report about this sort of thing, of course)

Oh, and KMBC just reported that that woman found dead in the Northland was Tamara Sparks. Not relevant to this case but it was mentioned back a couple of pages.

Due to the amount of the children kidnapped or taken in this area in high-profile cases ('Precious Doe', Kara Kopetsky, among many others) I'm not surprised it's gone national as well. KMBC devoted their 6pm newscast to this story (besides the weather, of course)

I'll be keeping an eye here and on the news as best as I can, found you all through the KMBC liveblog.

Hoping for good news for little Lisa....

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The grandparents of Lisa Irwin shared photos of their little granddaughter Wednesday night. They hope someone will see her.

The grandparents said they're absolutely heartbroken and their son and daughter-in-law have nothing to do with Lisa’s disappearance.

"Absolutely not. I’m not a police officer. You have to have a custody battle…but you have a loving family, close knit family,” said Rick Irwin.

“That baby is everything to them," said Melanie Irwin.

The fact that cell phones were missing is new information. I wonder if it was a robbery and they just decided to take the baby too or if taking the phones was an attempt to delay the call to the police.

Have police been able to track the phones at all?

of course the police have not discussed evidence such as phone tracking.

a cell phone robbery in a not-rich small neighborhood non-descript house with the baby a secondary thought? no, i don't think so.

i will say this, statistically a stranger abduction in a home at night with people present is extremely rare. i will be sadly shocked if that is what happened here. a handful of cases: Lindbergh baby, Lunsford in florida, Smart, Polly Klaas, Danielle Van Dam. only one an infant. others i have left out for no particular reason.

i haven't 100% decided what i think of this case yet.

searching around outside area of house again today. i have NOT heard whether there were footprints found outside window (or if ground would have retained them).

The cell phones being missing is really bizarre. If the purpose is to take the baby, the perp would want to get in and out of there as quickly as possible. It seems to me that the likelihood of being discovered while rummaging around for cell phones would be greater than the likelihood the parents would wake up and make a call on their cell phone if the perp got in and out fast.

And how would the perp know where to find the cell phones? Iff a stranger came in our house in the night and tried to find our cell phones, mine would probably be in my purse or in the charger (which is in a basket on the bottom shelf of a bookcase). My husband's would likely either be in his pants pocket, in his charger in the bathroom, or on his nightstand.

To me, the stolen phones mean that the kidnapper was someone who knew the family well enough to know where the cell phones would be (and to know that they didn't have a land line - which I presume is the case, otherwise what's the point in taking the phones - unless they disabled the land land and we haven't heard about it), or one of the parents is responsible (and got rid of the phones under the mistaken notion that LE wouldn't be able to track movements or calls without the phone?). The fact that a nonworking phone was also taken would seem to point to someone other than the parents.

parents were supposed to be on FOX news, and have not showed up. reporter said parents were having loud argument with police prior to this. parents got in car and sped away to command center (?).

Very interesting...can't quite wrap my head around what it might mean though. I'm trying to think what would make me argue with LE if I were in the parents' place (and had nothing to do with the disappearance). I would argue with LE if they told me they were stopping the investigation (but then I'd go on Fox and berate LE and ask for the public's help). I'd argue if LE if they told me I was a suspect (but I'd still plead for the public's help to find my child). I might argue with LE if they told me my child was found dead because I wouldn't want to believe it and then I'd leave (but I can't imagine LE not taking the parents somewhere private to tell them ).

Cell phones were left on counter according to parents.

...FOX 4's John Pepitone describes a heated conversation police had with the baby's parents at the wooded area where police were searching. According to witnesses, the parents, Jeremy Irwin and Debbie Bradley, were seen having an animated discussion with police before speeding off in their car.
Police told Pepitone they believe the parents' emotional exchange was in response to investigators returning to the woods to search for the third time...

Hmmm...why are the parents concerned about another search of the woods? They know what's there or they think LE is wasting their time???

In the video at the link, Pepitone says this time , LE is searching shoulder to shoulder. It sure sounds like they have some reason to believe something is there.

Very strange indeed, maybe they truly don't/ or don't want to believe that their baby girl is in the woods as the would mean the worst... I hate to always jump to the conclusion that the parents are involved.
The interview with the parents this morning on ABC news the father said the door was unlooked, the window was open and the lights were on when he came home. Along with the cell phones being missing, it's odd that the intruder/kidnapper would in fact leave the lights on...
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
