FALLBROOK, Calif. -- The search for a missing 22-year-old North County military wife who disappeared last week under suspicious circumstances resumed at daybreak Tuesday while the last person known to have seen her remained jailed on a weapon charge, authorities said.

Louis Ray Perez, 45, was booked into jail on Sunday night and has been “very uncooperative” with homicide detectives investigating the disappearance of Brittany Killgore, said sheriff’s Lt. Larry Nesbit.

Brittany Killgore was last seen in the Fallbrook area by a friend about 5 p.m. Friday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators believe that Killgore, who lived in Fallbrook and whose estranged husband, Cory, is a Camp Pendleton Marine deployed in Afghanistan, was with 45-year-old Louis Ray Perez, also a Camp Pendleton Marine, just before she disappeared, sheriff's homicide Lt. Larry Nesbit said.

"Based on our investigation to this point, we believe there is a strong likelihood Brittany is the victim of foul play,'' Nesbit said.

On Monday, the Sheriff's Department deployed its search-and-rescue units to assist in locating Brittany. Search efforts are centered on the area of De Luz Canyon, north of Fallbrook, the lieutenant said.

On Sunday, detectives arrested Perez on suspicion of possessing a stolen AR-15 military assault rifle. Nesbit described Perez, who was being held at San Diego Central Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, as "uncooperative and not completely forthcoming about his knowledge, we believe.''

The lieutenant would not comment on the nature of the missing woman's relationship with Perez.

Killgore, a 5-foot-7-inch, roughly 130-pound brunette with brown eyes, was wearing a dark-purple evening gown with shiny floral patterns at the time of her disappearance.

Among the suspicious circumstances in the case was the fact that her cell phone was found by trolley security guards in the Gaslamp District of downtown San Diego even though investigators do not believe she went there on the night she vanished, Nesbit said.

Killgore filed for divorce last week, according to court records.

well this speaks volumes.

Authorities today called off their search for a missing 22-year-old North County woman who disappeared last week under suspicious circumstances, allegedly after meeting up with a serviceman who subsequently was arrested on an unrelated weapon charges.

Officials with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department decided this morning to suspend their active efforts to find Brittany Killgore of Fallbrook, who was last seen in that rural community about 5 p.m. Friday, according to Jan Caldwell, a spokeswoman for the agency.

"Rather, we are concentrating our efforts on leads that have been developed," Caldwell said. She declined to elaborate.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Investigators searching for a missing 22-year-old North County woman who disappeared last week under suspicious circumstances found a body Tuesday in southern Riverside County, and a 27-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

SAN DIEGO -- A woman arrested in connection with the disappearance of Brittany Killgore left an apparent suicide note in her motel room that indicated what happened to the 22-year-old Fallbrook woman and where her body was located.

The discovery of the body off Warren Road, near Lake Skinner, was made about 2:30 p.m., Sheriff's Department Capt. Duncan Fraser said. It was not immediately clear if the body was that of Brittany Killgore of Fallbrook, who went missing Friday, he said.

Meanwhile, detectives made a second arrest in the case Tuesday, according to Fraser. Jessica Lynn Lopez, 27, was taken into custody at a motel on Rosecrans Street in San Diego and was expected to be booked on suspicion of murder.

On Sunday, a Camp Pendleton Marine was arrested in the case. Investigators said they believe Louis Ray Perez, 45, was with Killgore just before she went missing. Perez was booked on an unrelated weapon charge, though he "is being actively investigated for this disappearance," Fraser told reporters.

re: Kelli Bordeaux

ABC11 has learned police have questioned a 26-year-old registered sex offender who sources say picked Bordeaux up Friday night from her apartment, took her to the bar, and allegedly took her back to her home. ABC11 is not naming the man because he has not been charged with any crime.

Investigators were also looking at a campsite in a wooded area behind Froggy Bottoms that could be linked to the case.

re: Kelli Bordeaux ^

a pond is being searched at this moment.

Nicholas Holbert, 25, told ABC News 11 exclusively that he gave the soldier a ride home from the bar, where he works, but denied having anything to do with her disappearance and said he dropped her off at the entrance of her neighborhood at her request.

"As soon as you drive into the entrance to Meadowbrook, she said stop right here," Holbert said. "So I stopped and she said, 'I'll walk home.' I said, 'Are you sure?' She said, 'Yeah.' I said I figured she didn't want me to know where she lived, or somebody was there and she didn't want to be seen together."

The bar hand, who lives in a lean-to behind Froggy Bottoms, was questioned for a second time today by Fayetteville Police. He said he believed he was being targeted because he has a criminal record.

Holbert is a registered sex offender and was convicted as a 16-year-old of indecent liberties with a 5-year-old child, ABC 11 reported.

looks like she may be recovered today.

WRAL
A dive team began searching the pond – 8 miles from the bar – on Dobbins Holmes Road in Eastover Wednesday afternoon after receiving a tip.

Daniel West, whose family owns property around the pond, said K-9 officers were also searching the area.

"There was a point in that area out there that the dogs were reacting to," West said. A dog from a second K-9 team also reacted to the same area, he said.

Police, however, won't confirm those details or say whether they have found anything during the search.

Chief Tom Bergamine said Wednesday night that detectives are still treating Bordeaux's disappearance as an active missing person's case.

He said they also spoke with Nicholas Michael Holbert, 25, a registered sex offender and an employee at Froggy Bottoms, who was the last person to see Bordeaux.

Neighbors who live near the pond said Thursday that Holbert used to live in the area in a house that is now abandoned.

NBC17

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

A man who gave a Fort Bragg soldier a ride home from a Fayetteville bar before she was reported missing has turned himself in to authorities.

Nicholas Holbert, who lived in a tent behind the Froggy Bottoms bar, turned himself in to authorities Friday afternoon on charges unrelated to the disappearance of Fort Bragg soldier Kelli Bordeaux.

Holbert, who is a registered sex offender, was arrested for violation of his sex offender status, which requires him to provide a new address within 10 days of moving.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says Holbert is in custody for "failure to register his new residence."

The tent where Holbert lived is no longer behind the bar, but Fayetteville Police Chief Thomas Bergamine would not say if it had been confiscated for evidence.

If you're living in a tent behind a bar, what the hell is your address? Good God this man has a job and a vehicle and he lives in a tent?

Nicholas Holbert, 25, told ABC News 11 exclusively that he gave the soldier a ride home from the bar, where he works, but denied having anything to do with her disappearance and said he dropped her off at the entrance of her neighborhood at her request.

"As soon as you drive into the entrance to Meadowbrook, she said stop right here," Holbert said. "So I stopped and she said, 'I'll walk home.' I said, 'Are you sure?' She said, 'Yeah.' I said I figured she didn't want me to know where she lived, or somebody was there and she didn't want to be seen together."

This is the usual type of statement given by the offender. "Yeah, I was with her right before it happened, but I didn't do anything to her." JMO

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The owner of Froggy Bottoms, the Fayetteville bar where missing soldier Kelli Bordeaux was last seen, has been jailed on unrelated charges. The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Monday that 49-year-old Steven Cantrell was arrested for failing to appear in a Cumberland County courtroom on a driving while impaired charge in 2001.

Deputies also said FBI agents have warrants for Cantrell's arrest in Boston, Massachusetts for allegedly failing to pay $400,000 in child support payments to three different women.

Investigators said the charges have nothing to do with Bordeaux's disappearance. It's been more than a week since the missing 23-year-old was last seen at Froggy Bottoms.

If Steven Cantrell had nothing to do with Kelli's disappearance, I bet he is about pissed right now. How do you rack-up $400K in back child support? What a turd.
