OJ SIMPSON ~ Not Guilty??
#21
I dunno. It occurred to me that the judge might not have had options with regards to sentencing but it seems like that charge could be excessive for that incident.

Still don't want him set free. Smiley_emoticons_slash

Tomorrow's testimony should be interesting. The lawyer who Simpson accuses of misrepresentation and conflict of interest will take the stand.

That testimony will likely determine whether or not the judge grants Simpson a new trial.

Snipped:
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A lawyer who represented O.J. Simpson during the appeal of his armed robbery conviction to the Nevada Supreme Court testified Thursday that he's convinced that Simpson's lead trial lawyer made decisions in the case based on his own conflict of interest.

"From what I know now, absolutely. There's no doubt about it," attorney Malcolm LaVergne said under questioning by Simpson lawyer Patricia Palm during a hearing on Simpson's bid for a new trial.

LaVergne took over as Simpson's local counsel for an appeal in 2010, after another Las Vegas lawyer bowed out in a dispute over fees with Simpson's Miami-based attorney, Yale Galanter.

Simpson testified Wednesday that the items he thought would be in the room were his, and Galanter told him that as long as he didn't trespass or use force, he had a legal right to get them.

"I followed what I thought was the law," the 65-year-old former NFL star and actor said in his first testimony about the Las Vegas incident.

Galanter is scheduled to testify Friday.

OJ is a murderer if he couldn't have afforded expensive lawyers he would definitely have gone down.

All these conspiracy theories seeking to prove his innocence are laughable.

Doesn't look like Simpson is gonna win this appeal and get a new trial, imo.

The lawyer he accused of misrepresentation and conflict of interest contradicted the version of events that Simpson testified to earlier this week.

Galanter testified today that OJ Simpson wasn't intoxicated at the time of the Vegas robbery and that he was aware that his two companions were "packing heat" when they went to the hotel room to retrieve the memorabilia that Simpson believed was rightfully still his.

If he loses this appeal and is denied a new trial, Simpson won't be eligible for parole for 5 more years.

Case continues next week.

During a hearing in May, Simpson's current lawyers Patricia Palm and Ozzie Fumo argued his trial attorney, Yale Galanter, botched Simpson's defense and had a conflict of interest in the case.

Judge Bell has yet to issue a decision. If she rules in Simpson's favor, prosecutors will have to decide whether to retry him, offer a plea deal, or set him free with credit for time served.

In the meantime...

O.J. Simpson won a small victory Wednesday in his bid for freedom as Nevada granted him parole on some of his convictions in a 2008 kidnapping and armed robbery involving the holdup of two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel room.

But the decision doesn't mean Simpson will be leaving prison anytime soon. Because he was convicted on multiple charges, Simpson still faces at least four more years in prison on sentences that were ordered to run consecutively.

The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners on Wednesday released an order approving the former NFL star's parole request.

Robbery/Kidnapping Conviction Upheld

Yesterday, Simpson lost his latest legal fight, as a Nevada judge upheld his conviction on kidnapping, armed robbery and other charges.

Simpson's legal team's bid, which followed an unsuccessful "direct appeal," asked for a new trial on 22 specific grounds related to his trial and appeal. But they didn't sway Clark County Judge Linda Marie Bell, who sided against Simpson point-by-point-by-point.

"Given the overwhelming amount of evidence," Bell wrote, "neither the errors in this case, nor the errors collectively, cause this court to question the validity of Mr. Simpson's conviction."

His current legal team expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling. "We're shocked and disappointed," said Patricia Palm, one of his attorneys. "We're convinced the law provides relief for Mr. Simpson."

Free Again

OJ Simpson was sentenced from 9 to 33 years for using a gun and 5 accomplices to jack his own memorabilia from sports dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room.

This was back in 2007, 13 years after he was (very wrongly, in my opinion) acquitted of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.

In July of 2017, A Las Vegas parole board approved OJ Simpson's parole. He's served nearly 10 years as a model prisoner.

On Monday, October 2nd, 70-year-old Simpson ^ is expected to be transferred from his current prison location to another and then released. The location of his release is being withheld from the public, for obvious reasons.

And so it begins, O.J. Simpson is living LARGE --

- - - - - - he's currently staying in his longtime friend's palatial 5,000 square foot home in a private Las Vegas gated community ... right next to a golf course.

The home is 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths -- and includes a pool, hot tub and a private putting green area. It's roughly 20 minutes from the Vegas strip.

OJ has been hanging out at the house and laying low so far.

His daughter Arnelle, was spotted out on a grocery run at a nearby Trader Joe's earlier this week.
