Not sure if I agree with the officer's here, free speech ? Ms. Henderson has a history of fighting with here neighbors. So maybe its directed towards them?? I give her points for bring original!!! I would have said its a "Menorah " officer!!!

Police were called to Sarah Henderson's home in Denham Springs, Louisiana when there were numerous complaints about her roof-top display, which formed a middle finger directed at her neighbors. Apparently Henderson has had an ongoing dispute with those who live around her and wanted to let them know how she felt the old fashioned way: with a passive-aggressive Christmas lights display.

After the cops informed her that it was a violation of obscenity laws, Henderson agreed to take the display down. The story doesn’t

end there, though. The ACLU quickly swept into action, informing the local police precinct that Henderson’s lights should be protected by the first amendment. (We’re pretty sure this is exactly what our founding fathers had in mind when they wanted to ensure freedom of speech to all of this nation’s citizens.)

I read this story the other day. I'm not so sure I would have recognized that as flipping the bird but her neighbors obviously did. hah

I will never understand why retards who profess not to like someone go to the lengths they do. I call them retards because only a tard would devote time & energy to someone they don't care for.

Somebody needs to just start dynamiting the ACLU's offices. That organization is a complete joke.

You are no longer in the womb, friend. The competition is tougher out here.

They can be very annoying and even aggravating. It's hard to look pass some of the nonsense they take on though.

However, it shows exactly how Free our country is, when a non-profit nonnonpartisan organization acts as a watch dog for every AMERICAN and can win. No matter if you agree with it or not; its checks and balances.

I think it's a funny and it was handled fine by Ms. Henderson and the police. Ms. Henderson made her statement, succeeded in annoying her neighbor (and others) further, and took the lights down on LE request.

Imo, there's a valid case for violation of free expression to be made, but why make it here? Done deal, move on.

The ACLU often exploits insignificant events to make a broader point and garner attention for their organization. They frequently irritate me, but I'm glad they exist. There are legitimate cases where an individual or group has its rights infringed upon and the ACLU can help to stop or minimize the infringement/prejudice - that outweighs the irritation, for me.
