I'm not a religious person by any stretch of the imagination but I have to say, Pope Francis is the greatest Pope of my lifetime. He is changing things in the church for the better and I really like his liberal manner. I'm only commenting on this because of what he said to a little boy who was mourning the death of his dog. You have to understand that the church has always said that dogs, animals in general, have no soul so for him to say this is sorta a big deal -

Pope Francis confirmed during his weekly address in the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square that canines, along with “all of God’s creatures,” can make it to heaven.

The leader of the Catholic Church made the remark in order to comfort a young boy who was mourning the death of his dog, according to the New York Times.

“One day, we will see our animals again in the eternity of Christ. Paradise is open to all of God’s creatures,” said the 77-year-old Pontiff.
