Hey, when you read something from a news source, you like to think it is correct. Sadly, lately it seems they all can't get their stories straight.

There are a few links out there for live streaming to a rescheduled press conference, but don't think that's really happening today.

Yesterday's conference was cancelled and reports today are that there's investigative work to do; doesn't look like an arrest has been made yet.

Here's the latest from NPR:

The ID of the third fatality was released yesterday. She was a Chinese graduate student at Boston University.

RICIN LETTER SUSPECT - ARRESTED

He's an Elvis impersonator, seriously.

The letters were in mail meant for Obama, a senator, and a judge this week. There appears to be no connection between the suspect, Curtis, and the unidentified Boston bomber(s).

Paul Kevin Curtis

Snip:
Sgt. Corrie Robbins of the Booneville Police Department in Mississippi told investigators that Curtis had been investigated several times since 2007, the affidavit says. It adds that Curtis' ex-wife reported to police in 2007 that he was "extremely delusional, anti-government, and felt the government was spying on him with drones."

If convicted, Curtis will face a maximum of 15 years in prison, $500,000 in fines and three years of supervised release.

Thanks, OTD.

The press conference has been rescheduled 3 times so far, but The FBI announced earlier that it will indeed take place today at 5 pm EST.

They've got a lot of interviews to conduct and videos/photos to investigate and are asking for public assistance.

They were able to enhance the video images pretty well. Unless the guys are from out of country, the chances of getting IDs seem pretty good. Fingers crossed.

On thing that's a little worrying though. If they're easily recognized (whether they're actually the bombers or not) hoping no citizens try to detain them and instead call LE, as advised.

From the presser:

At a press conference, FBI special agent in charge Richard DesLauriers referred to the two men as Suspect 1 and Suspect 2 and said Suspect 2 was spotted dropping a bag before a bomb exploded at the second bomb site. The two men appear to be "associated," DesLauriers said.

A source close to the investigation told ABC News authorities have "good confidence" that these men perpetrated the crime. The degree of confidence, the source said, comes from a "revealing" reaction Suspect 2 had to the detonation of the first bomb, which was captured on surveillance video.

Hope this lead pays off.

I have a co-worker who is Iranian (lived here in the states since the Shah was overthrown).

He says they look Iranian. He also believes it could be retribution for Isreal/U.S. killing several Iranian nuclear physicists over the past few years.

He also believes these guys are no longer in the country.

Interesting to hear the opinion of some random Iranian who lives in the U.S. I'm sure some brownish guy living in the wheat fields has all the answers.

I'm sure the passenger lists of all outgoing planes and buses were looked at, with the manpower available it would be easy. They will be found though in that I have confidence hopefully before they go out in a blaze of glory.

You Jelly, Bro?

hah

I've wanted to say that to you for a long time.

His take is probably just as plausible as anyone else's at this time.

I put more credence in his identification of their nationality.

He's probably pretty good at deciphering one rag-head from another (though, don't call him an Arab).

Wouldn't you think?

How do you tell an Iranian from someone from Iraq or Saudi Arabia? You (and your coworker) lost credibility with me right there.

You sound remarkably similar to Ramsey with a question like that.

He observed their noses, and other facial features that he could make out.

A netsleuth, you are not.

Yes. How the fuck do you distinguish someone of middle eastern decent from another? It's like saying you can determine the heritage of a Caucasian because they're white (absent any clothing tell).

MS must have literally fucked his brains out during his Miami trip.

Listen.

This guy's a goat farmer, and when he makes observations, people listen.

Their noses literally jumped off the screen at him, and he said they were brethren.

I took him at his word.

The guy doesn't have one funny bone in his body, so I know that he knows that I know that he doesn't know how to joke around (especially in matters like this).

The Boston Marathon bombing suspects — armed with explosives and guns — battled law enforcement officers in a Boston suburb early Friday morning, unleashing chaos until cops took one of the men into custody and the other fled, law enforcement sources said.

Officials later said the suspect taken into custody died and authorities identified the man on the run as the "white-hat" suspect, referencing photographs released by the FBI Thursday. Authorities warned he should be considered armed and dangerous.

The standoff in Watertown, Mass., erupted shortly after the fatal shooting of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer. A transit police officer was also wounded in the Watertown fire fight, officials confirmed to NBC affiliate WHDH.

Officials in Watertown were warning residents to "stay in their homes and not open their doors unless a police officer is there."

"There is a terrorist on the loose," said one officer at an impromptu press conference at about 4:30 a.m. ET.

The suspect at large — believed to be the man who physically placed the bags containing the homemade bombs which killed 3 and injured 170 on Monday — was described as "dressed in a grey hoodie, light skinned male, brown curly hair."

Law enforcement sources said the suspects have international links and have been in the country legally for about a year.

The suspects approached the MIT officer and shot him in head, the sources said. The two then stole the MIT officer's cruiser, robbed a nearby 7-11 and carjacked a Mercedes SUV, briefly kidnapping the driver, the sources said. At various points, the suspects threw explosives out the window of the moving car.

The dead suspect had an improvised explosive device strapped to his chest and the law enforcement sources warned that the suspect on the run may as well.

Watertown resident Andrew Kitzenberg described the earlier police shoot out outside his house. “They engaged in gunfire for a few minutes,” Kitzenberg told NBC News. “They were also utilizing bombs, which sounded and looked like grenades, while engaging in the gunfight. They also had what looked like a pressure-cooker bomb.”
