RIP Joe.

I love his music. I have a dead uncle that used to party with Joe, Jimmy and The Grateful Dead in the clubs somewhere in Minnesota.

RIP Joe Cocker.

Joe with Leon Russell on piano.

Joe Cocker with his favorite imitator, John Belushi.
RIP Joe Cocker.

He had a very odd way of singing, retarded like. John Belushi did a good impression.

Mario Cuomo died of heart failure yesterday at age 82. RIP.

He was the governor of New York from 1983 to 1994, the father of current governor Andrew Cuomo, and a very high profile leader in the Democratic party for decades.

Dagnabbit!!

Bob Simon was killed last night in NYC. I'm going to miss you, mister. I loved your interviews and every single story I ever saw you report.

He traveled the world reporting and was once held hostage so to die in something as mundane as a car accident sucks ass.
I admired Simon's work as well. Total pro.

That car is obliterated. Hopefully, his death was instantaneous. Very sad.

RIP Bob Simon.
What the hell did he hit?

He was a passenger in a car that hit another car that was stopped at a light, his car then went on to hit metal barriers that separate lanes of traffic.

The Lincoln Town Car in which Simon, 73, was riding collided with a Mercedes-Benz, then veered across the roadway and plowed into a pedestrian expansion near West 30th Street at about 7 p.m., according to law enforcement sources.
The driver of the Mercedes — identified as 23-year-old Zachery Miller — said the black car was veering erratically before the crash.
“He swerved into me,” said Miller, a resident of New Rochelle. “He hit me and he looked like he lost control of the car.”The 44-year-old Lincoln driver — identified as Reshad Abdul Fedahi — was treated by first responders for a possible heart attack, according to police sources. He also had two broken legs, a busted right arm and tested negative for booze, law enforcement sources said.
It was not clear if Fedahi actually suffered a heart attack, nor was it immediately clear if he was stricken before or after the crash.
His car was owned by Travez Transportation Inc., based in Long Island City.
Fedahi had two moving violations and nine cleared suspensions on his record.
Shit, what a mess. RIP
Lesley Gore, 'It's My Party' Singer, Dead at 68

Lesley Gore, the singer of Sixties hits like "It's My Party," "Judy's Turn to Cry" and "You Don't Own Me," passed away today at a New York City hospital following a bout with cancer. Gore was 68. "She was a wonderful human being – caring, giving, a great feminist, great woman, great human being, great humanitarian," Gore's partner Lois Sasson told the Associated Press.

The New Jersey-raised Gore was just a junior in high school when Quincy Jones signed the singer to Mercury Records and produced her first single "It's My Party." The song would eventually top the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963 – giving Jones his first smash single as producer – and spawn the quasi-sequel "Judy's Turn to Cry," which also sold over a million copies the same year. Amy Winehouse would later cover "It's My Party" for a Quincy Jones tribute album.

Vale Lesley Gore.

I think a majority of Mock's women would live up to these lyrics.

Heh

You don't own me
I'm not just one of your many toys
You don't own me
Don't say I can't go with other boys

And don't tell me what to do
Don't tell me what to say
And please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display 'cause

You don't own me
Don't try to change me in any way
You don't own me
Don't tie me down 'cause I'd never stay

I don't tell you what to say
I don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you

Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane has died.

I really liked your dog, mister.

VP Joe Biden's son Beau died yesterday from brain cancer. He was 46.
Frank Gifford died suddenly at home today; he was 84.

He was a California boy who went on to become a star player for the New York Giants football team in the 50s and 60s, a broadcaster credited with making Monday Night Football must-see tv, and a fill-in host on his wife Kathy Lee Gifford's morning show with Regis Philbin.

My dad loved Don Meredith, Howard Cosell, and Frank Gifford (^right) together on Monday Night Football

RIP Giff.

Story: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/10/sports....html?_r=0

I just heard that on my evening news. Even though I knew he was up there in age I was still sorta surprised. His youngest kids are in their twenties. I remember him doing MNF when I was just a kid. I can recall him commenting on the antics of those players who had scored a TD, he thought they should act like they had done that before, he didn't approve of their celebrations.
Frank was the straight man in the booth with Cosell being over-the-top and Dandy Don just being a major good. Frank handled the play by play and let those two provide commentary.

It worked beautifully.
I hope to die suddenly (although crap, there's stuff I need to get in order first). Anyway, RIP, Frank.
