As long we're being vanity fair.

I look at that face and hope like hell she's happy. You know damn well that life is probably difficult. A pretty hair style and expertly applied makeup is not going to help that person achieve a feminine look.

I think I see a 5:00 o'clock shadow.
With the objectification of women and the uproar of the way women are classified in the sports illustrated swimsuit edition you would think Bruce would have come out wearing a business suit. That would have filled a few agendas.

Strangely, that kind of thing has never bothered me, maybe it should but I feel sorta meh about it. I might talk some shit occasionally but I really don't care how women present themselves or if they are seen as sex objects. Typically they aren't viewed that way unless they present themselves as such and that's on them. Obviously many are cool with it.
Hillary is all over that topic, its the in thing ya know. hah

In a talk show appearance this week, Bob Costas said he wished Jenner 'all the happiness in the world and all the peace of mind in the world' - but was clear that he disagreed with her getting the Arthur Ashe courage award.

He said: 'It strikes me that awarding the Arthur Ashe award to Caitlyn Jenner is just a crass exploitation play. It’s a tabloid play.

In the broad world of sports, I’m pretty sure [ESPN] could have found - and this is not anything against Caitlyn Jenner - I’m pretty sure they could have found someone who was much closer to actively involved in sports, who would have been deserving of what that award represents.

That’s not to say it doesn’t take some measure of personal courage to do what Caitlyn Jenner has done.

I think every year we look across the landscape of sports and we find prominent people and kids in high school and amateur athletes who I think more closely fit the description of what they’re looking for -- or should be looking for there.'

He concluded: 'I think this is a play to pump up audience the way lots of things are put on television, to attract eyeballs, not because of the validity, but because of whatever the kind of gawker factor is'.

I understand Costas' point and think a lot of people feel the same way.

And, I bet the ESPY awards gets their highest television viewership ever when Jenner makes her appearance.
Told ya Cutz. Your racial transition desire is hardly original.

In today's news...

The parents of a highly visible civil rights activist in Eastern Washington have revealed that she is white. Rachel Dolezal (pictured center and right), Spokane's NAACP Chapter President and part-time Africana Studies professor at a Eastern Washington University, has been misleading people about her ethnicity for years, her parents say. They even offered photographic proof: while Rachel currently sports tight, dark curls, her mom Ruthanne Dolezal has shared photos of the fair and freckled blonde daughter she once knew (left).

Her mother says that Rachel started to 'disguise herself' around 2006. Dolezal has since written online posts about what it's like to be a person of color in a largely white corner of the country. She was recently appointed chairwoman of Spokane's Office of Police Ombudsman Commission and on the application, she marked herself down as white, black and American Indian. Her mother says the family background is Czech, Swedish and German.

Is this a case of undiagnosed self-treated racial dysphoria, or is she just a con-woman? Stay tuned.
Justifying a huge ass . . . pretending she's black!
Time to add another classification to the mental disorder manual.

I can't wait to see people falling all over themselves to defend/deride this girl.

ETA: After reading more about this story, this is just complete absurdity.

Whigger
I don't know if Rachel Dolezal is a straight up con-woman, if she's mentally disturbed, if she believes herself to be black, or all of the above.

She's filed charges of hate crimes against her, none of which could be substantiated or prosecuted.

Whatever her motivation, her blackness was not questioned by anybody for a long time.

It is absurd. She does have a black person's nose though.
Sally's incorrect.

She doesn't have a bone through it . . . like the National Geographic tribal pictures depict.

And I didn't see a copy of Oprah's magazine on her desk, either.
I just read that her parents adopted 4 African-American children. That's when Rachel assumed her black identity.

She worked her assumed blackness to her advantage career-wise, that's for sure.

If I worked at the school that employs her, I'd sure as hell be verifying her credentials right about now. I won't be surprised if she's not what she's presented herself to be on more fronts than just her race.

Reminds me a lot of the story line from that 90s movie, Soul Man, where C. Thomas Howell transitions to a black dude in order to get into college.

She's bat shit crazy alright.

"Her parents also alleged a much wider web of warped lies Dolezal spun about her background. A black man who Dolezal has publicly claimed to be her son is in fact her adopted brother, they said — a fact Dolezal confirmed to the paper.

Dolezal also lied about growing up in a teepee, hunting for her own food with bows and arrows, being abused by a stepfather and once living in South Africa, her parents said."

That's more than a little bizarre.
On more than one occasion and throughout my life, Blacks have claimed Native American lineage, after discovering my "mixed" status.

And they always claim it was some Sioux or Cherokee Chief bloodline.

Go figure!

And an asshole too. She's choosing to run around pretending to be black, while making all kinds of noise about how poorly she's treated for being black.

Not only has she falsely claimed to be a victim of hate crimes against her, she preaches and teaches bias against white people. What a fraud.

Embracing her roots.

I wonder how many hours and perms it took to get that "natural look".

The NAACP is saying that the role she holds with them doesn't require that she be black. They should kick her ass out anyway for being such a liar. Even if she's done some good in her activism for black causes, her motives and credibility are shot to shit now, she can't be trusted, and she's a poor reflection on the organization.
At first I was thinking it was kind of mean of her parents to out her publicly like that, but she really is an asshole.

And since when do white people cause a commotion at the movie theater, everyone knows that's a black people thing.
