What I don't get about this whole situation is the parents. Why come out about it now? I saw in an interview, where they said that Rachel 'estranged herself' from her parents so that nobody would know she had white parents.

Well, if they knew she's been running this con for a while, why not say something about it last year, or when ever she first started. They kept quiet, as well as the 'brother' going along with her scheme until now.

I call foul on the parents, there's an underlying reason they exposed her.

They stayed out of her life like she wanted until the reporter came to them. What were they supposed to say when asked if she's their biological daughter? Lie and say they found her living in a tee pee in Africa?

They could have just told the reporter that they have nothing to discuss, but maybe once confronted about they decided they're not going to keep quiet about her bullshit anymore. If I was the parent I might come to a point too where I'd say fuck this lying little nigger bitch.

Her parents were interviewed on TODAY. They told the host that they were contacted by media and directly asked about Rachel's claims, many of which surprised them. They said they chose to answer honestly rather than lie or try the "no comment" route.

There is some family conflict over a biological brother or uncle who is being accused of a sex crime. Rachel is reportedly supporting the alleged victim in the case. But, I don't think the parents would have exposed her because of that drama. I'd bet they would have preferred to keep it out of the spotlight.

Well, Dolezal is hitting the talk-show circuit and continuing her charade. It's my opinion that it's a charade anyway. She's defiant and unapologetic; like a strong angry black woman and all.

She appeared on TODAY and went with the very predictable excuses about some of her lies.

- She said she's raising her adopted black brother as her son and that he views her as his real mom. So, she said, she wasn't lying about him being her son.

- She said the man she claimed as her black father is someone with whom she's very close and that she sees him like a Dad. So, she said, she wasn't lying about him being her father.

- When asked about her changed appearance, she didn't respond to a question about her curls, but said, "I certainly don't stay out of the sun".

- She said she has identified black since she was five and used brown colors when drawing herself. When shown a photo of herself as a happy-looking blonde teen, she said she wasn't identifying as black during her teen years.

Dolezal filed suit against Howard University when she was a student there. She accused the university of discriminating against her for being white when they passed over her for a teaching assistant position and another post. Apparently, she's black when it suits her and she's white when it suits her. Too bad actual black people don't have that option.

One of her art pieces on her webpage is almost an exact replica of another artists' work and she's facing plagiarism accusations.

Dolezal is being investigated for ethics violations for claiming to be black on her police ombudsman application.

As far as I know, she still serves as the police ombudsman and is still teaching black studies.

I don't even know who you're talking about when you refer to "liberals" most of the time Maggot.

It mostly just seems like a convenient, though often ill-fitting, catch-all label for people who see things differently than you do in today's world. Times change.

I know people who are generally liberal-leaning and are very realistic in assessing people and situations case-by-case. And, I know some very conservative people who refuse to look at the reality of current situations and instead try to define most thing in yesteryear's or religious context. And vice versa.

Most people I know are somewhere between the extremes, including myself, which makes us "damned conservatives" to the extreme liberals and "damned liberals" to the extreme conservatives who can't or won't objectively consider things outside of their comfort zones.
