Yes thats sales tax, florida doesn't have a state income tax .
I think it would be difficult to implement a state income tax, but Gillium does plan on raising corporate taxes. He's kind of like Bernie Sanders where he wants to take from the rich and give to whoever he deems deserving of it. Which I don't like that either. This is why I don't vote.
C'mon who doesn't love a great fairy tale like Robin hood?

He got caught with undercover cops seeing if officials in his area were corrupt. He is on the take and then his siblings got busted too. They are all on the graft. He is probably the cleanest of them all. Now the Project Veritas on him showing he says whatever gets him elected.

Look I know little about DeSantis and he is likely no saint. Gillium is definitely a stereotypical corrupt politician but there are a LOT worse. But I would not make the mistake of overlooking the fact that he is both a typical and corrupt politician any more than casting him as a monster.

Yeah, Gillum's plan is to increase the corporate income tax rate by 2% (from 5.5% to 7.5%) on larger corporations to fund early education, vocational training programs, and to pull the wages of teachers from among the lowest in the country up to the national average.

Most businesses, however, would remain exempt from paying any tax because the state exempts the first $50,000 in taxable income.

Nobody likes tax increases.  But, the funding needs to come from somewhere.  Increasing spending while decreasing/maintaining current tax revenue (as is currently being done at the federal level) is a recipe for future economic disaster and ballooning debt.

I'd rather see an increase in state corporate tax on businesses that just had their federal tax burdens significantly reduced permanently....... than see income taxes increased for individuals whose deductions were recently slashed.

Anyway, increasing the Florida corporate tax from 5.5% to 7.5% would take Florida from having one of the lowest state corporate tax rates to being in the middle.  https://www.taxadmin.org/assets/docs/Res...rp_inc.pdf

Dear god, the nerve of this guy!
trump's tax break for the middle class is supposed to go into affect today...or any day now. Sarcastic
Fact check: Trump’s claim that Democrats let cop killer stay in U.S. is false

President Trump’s closing argument for the midterm elections includes a tweet featuring convicted cop killer Luis Bracamontes, who killed two Sacramento-area deputies in a 2014 rampage.

The tweet features video of Bracamontes spewing profanities while on trial in Sacramento Superior Court, a frequent occurrence in the years of court hearings he faced.

But the president’s claim that “Democrats let him into our country” is not entirely accurate, and neither is the claim that “Democrats let him stay.”

Bracamontes, who is now on Death Row at San Quentin State Prison for the October 2014 slayings of Sacramento sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer sheriff’s Deputy Michael Davis Jr., first came into the United States in 1993, when he was 16 and Democrat Bill Clinton was president.

The Maricopa County (Ariz.) Sheriff’s Office has told The Sacramento Bee previously that he was first arrested in Phoenix in 1996. Prosecutors in Phoenix say he was arrested Sept. 25, 1996, on deportable drug offenses related to marijuana possession and sentenced to four months in jail starting in January 1997.

Bracamontes served his time in then-Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s tent-city jail, then was handed over to agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and deported on June 3, 1997, during Clinton’s second term.

He apparently did not stay in Mexico long. Records in Arizona show he was arrested on drug charges again in Phoenix in 1998, then released “for reasons unknown” by Arpaio’s office. Arpaio is a Republican.

Bracamontes was next arrested May 4, 2001, on marijuana charges in Maricopa County, and deported three days later. Republican George W. Bush was president at the time, and was president when Bracamontes slipped back into the United States a short time later.

The date of his re-entry is not clear, but records show Bracamontes was married in Maricopa County on Feb. 28, 2002, when Bush was president.

I saw it said that the killer got an early release from Joe Arpaio's office. I haven't fact checked that but boy, wouldn't that be rich.
Just another reason why people in this caravan need to be thoroughly vetted. I don't think they should be comfortable when waiting either this group will be in tents for the duration which is probably better treatment than they would get anywhere. I would go as far to say that whatever it cost to feed and house them should be billed to their place of origin either through sanctions or from what we already send. America should not be seen as the worlds red cross. If you come here you better be ready to become an American and not an extension of the land you are leaving. Don't come here waving the flag of another country.
This is good news for Republicans up for congressional election next week.

Snip:
Employers added 250,000 jobs in October, more than analysts expected, as the jobless rate remained at 3.7 percent, a nearly 50-year low, the Labor Department said Friday.

The report also showed that the pace of wage growth picked up last month. Average earnings climbed to $27.30 an hour — 3.1 percent above a year earlier.

The 12-month wage increase was the largest since 2009 and topped September's 2.8 percent gain.

But the 3.1 percent wage gain is still considered moderate. And it's unlikely to change the Federal Reserve's strategy of gradually increasing interest rates.    Source: https://www.npr.org/2018/11/01/662924222...-elections

Unless they're in deep red districts, I think Republican candidates will need to work hard to get their constituents focused on the economy instead of Trump in order to fully benefit from it though.

What would you be willing to do to keep your kids safe? Anything at all like what those in the caravan are doing?

I would never put my kids in that situation nor would I ever put myself in that situation.

So you're saying you, the immigrant you, would have the luxury of choice?
Why would I ever put myself in that situation?

What if you were born into that situation like so many of them are? You continue to imply these people have a choice. In a sense I guess that's true, live or die. They choose to live and you condemn them for that.

Anyway, moving on, you're never going to get it.

Democrats should be walking away with the midterms but they're not because republicans are the party of cheaters. They know they can't run & win on their policies so they lie and cheat.

How many in that caravan are in that situation? Do you have even rough numbers?
Furthermore IF you WERE in that situation and got an offer from Mexico that Trumped your situation at home, you would take it up wouldn't you? Logically speaking you would not say "thanks but no thanks because we think though your offer is better , we think we can get better again".
Seriously, they're now lying their asses off about protecting pre-existing conditions when all they've done is try to strip us of health care since its inception. "Entitlements" that most of us have worked all our lives for are being greedily salivated over since this brilliant tax cut has gutted us. Fucking vultures.

They aren't even trying to disguise their lies anymore. They are taking their cues from trump, whose own lies have escalated to the point that every single time he opens his mouth he lies.

If they keep the House, not one person with a pre-existing condition will be able to be insured and they will lose their savings and their home within a couple years. That old cocksucka Mitch McConnell has publicly stated they are going after healthcare again, as well as social security & Medicare.
