Only two people in DC have the power to summon the National Guard--POTUS and the Secretary of Defense. No one, and I mean no one, could get trump to do one damn thing in an effort to help those at the Capitol. He choose to watch it all go down and I don't doubt for a moment that he enjoyed every second of it.

If Pelosi felt that lives were at stake SWAT teams could have been called in or the police could have been ordered to open fire. You going to tell me that that would be excessive during an insurrection?

The National Guard wasn't the only effective option available considering how incredibly grave the situation was, right Duchess?

Kind of curious what he thinks a SWAT team could do against thousands of people, many of them armed.

Tear gas would have dispersed most of them, bullets would have dispatched those who remained, and there's no question that would be warranted in an insurrection. Yet it never happened.

Why didn't the police deploy tear gas and fire rubber bullets? They frequently empty their clips into people for minor provocation, yet on that day they didn't use the tools at their disposal to enforce the law during an insurrection. Why is that?
Nancy Pelosi referring to trump during the insurrection--"I'm going to punch him out, and I'm going to go to jail, and I'm going to be happy".  hah

Go, Nancy, go!
She really wants to punch his fartbox with her tongue.

That's an excellent question. If it had been a BLM crowd, there would definitely have been some dead protesters.
So Duchess, how many of those armed-to-the-teeth Proud Boys opened up on the police and/or attempted to take members of Congress hostage?

They weren't able to get their hands on anyone except LEO's who they beat with flag poles & fire extinguishers and used tasers, stun guns and bear spray on, they tried to crush one LEO in a door, they used baseball bats as well. They chanted hang Mike Pence over & over again as well as screamed for Nancy Pelosi to be brought out.

Some of the people responsible for all that have already been sentenced to prison, many have lost everything for their participation, their jobs, their families, their standing in their communities as well as their friends.

There's way more and you know that.

Why are you asking me questions that you already know the answer to? Why be obtuse?

Because the orders came from the top to stand down, that's why.

There is a plethora of information about this online. The J6 Committee even has a website filled with a great deal of evidence to back up their claims. All you have to do is take the time to look.

Did they use the firearms they supposedly had or didn't they? Very simple question.

The one cop that died wasn't beaten with a fire hydrant and wasn't sprayed with bear mace, he had a stroke, so some of what you're saying are lies that evolved over time. First it was the fire extinguisher, then it was bear spray, which are lies, because it would be immediately apparent whether or not the man had blunt head trauma or had been sprayed with a lachrymatory agent.

It's ludicrous to believe that people with baseball bats are going to overturn an election. Ludicrous. There was zero chance of that happening. Zero. What happened was mostly the result of a failure to excercise crowd control tactics, which under the circumstances guaranteed that there would be violence.

That only applied to the National Guard. The executive branch has no authority over the Capitol police or the DC police.
So? What's your point? I said what I said and I stand by it. You seriously think trump and his minions didn't play a role in ensuring no help was forthcoming?

I think Trump may have incited a riot, but as I previously stated the executive branch has no jurisdiction with respect to the Capitol and DC police.

It's called the separation of powers.
When was there separation of powers when trump was in the White House?

Huh?
When was there separation of power when trump was in the White House? When did trump respect boundaries? He never once treated the other two branches of government as equal, he thought being president meant he had the last word.

SCOTUS dismissed his election hacking case, so there was plenty of separation there, and he didn't seem to have much success getting state legislatures to go to bat for him. Bush/Cheney were far, far worse IMO. Cheney is more of a stable genius than El Trumpo, and decidedly more evil.
I like George so much more since he left office. I used to blame every damn thing on him--stuck in traffic, IT'S ALL BUSH'S FAULT...can't get a timely appt., IT'S ALL BUSH'S FAULT...you get the idea. It was a joke of course.

I think him and Dick are guilty of war crimes.
