I'd like to hear where you all have been to, traveled to, etc.
Any of these trips by vehicle? My favorite road trip of all time was driving from California on up to Montana/Yellowstone Park at the age of 18 with a girlfriend of mine.
I decided to do a road trip instead of going to Mexico with the rest of the graduating class.
Freedom, youth, the beauty of the Pacific coast, the pure, magical untouched spots of the Northwest, a beautiful Paint horse I rode for a few weeks named Sam (had one eye) ,and of course the rodeo cowboy I shacked up and played house with for a few months in Miles City, Montana wasn't bad either.
Wish I had taken more photos, and I miss the hell out of that old '65 Mustang.-
(It died somewhere near Wyoming)
One of the highlights of the trip was the plane ride home, I got the pleasure of flying in a snow storm in "Buddy Holly special", sitting next to Ben Stein.
I had no idea he was a political speech writer at the time, I just thought it was fucking cool I was sitting next to the teacher in "Ferris Bueller."
The big, open blue sky, and the feeling of Independence is something I will never forget.

it was so amazing that i'd rather have a root canal and brain surgery with rusty barbed wire than ever see NYC again.

LC, I love that your parents did that with you.
One of my clients said that the best thing her husband ever did for/with her was taking her to each and every state in their lifetime together.
I've taken road trips to Arkansas, Tennessee, New Orleans, Colorado, New Mexico and the Keys. I've flown to Switzerland, Amsterdam and Hungary. I don't know which one I hate worse, flying or driving.
We are a road-tripping family. We've been across the US twice, different routes. We usually have a ball because I didn't raise any annoying kids. If I had one with ADD or a whiner, we would have stayed home.
Favorite places we've seen: Sequoya's in CA, Grand Canyon, swimming with the manatees in FL.

It's not my kids that bother me on a road trip, it's the crazy drivers and truckers on the highway that make me a nervous wreck. Plus I hate sitting still for too long.

We don't go over 8 hours now. That is long enough. I fulfilled my "take us to see America" obligation. I can RIP now. haha
