YOU'RE BEING WATCHED

At Russian State dinners Putin has a saying....'Если Вы не имеете ничто хорошее сказать о любом, приедьте, сидят рядом со мной.'

It translates into English as..."If you haven't got anything nice to say about anybody, come sit next to me."

Snowden's asylum is guaranteed.

Cops have been running your plates for years, folks.

Nothing new.

Unlike most here, I'm not offended.

I've got nothing to hide, and if this technique nabs a few who need to be locked up, then I'm okay with it.

For law abiding citizens it doesn't have anything to do with having something to hide, MS.

I'm a law abiding citizen, Duchess, and that's how I feel about it.

You hold your rights & personal freedom in very low regard...that's how I feel about it.

@Midwest Spy,
Government rules at the consent of the governed. I did not agree to be spied upon. You may like a country where that happens but I do not.

Now when it comes to what is INSIDE your car, you are covered under the 4th amendment... and have that right to privacy unless there is probable cause to search it.

But driving is a privilege, not a Constitutionally guaranteed right. When you are in public you have no expectation of privacy when it comes to driving your car down the street.

I've never given any real thought about a lot of the things we've been talking about lately in regards to surveillance & data collecting. It is seriously creepy to know that random American lives are being logged, to know one is tracked and tracked IS what is being done. The guy who wrote the story I posted found himself in the logs over 100 times, there was even a photo of him & his daughters getting out of their car in their driveway. Shit like this isn't supposed to be going on in the United States of America.

@ MS...Some food for thought from another place and time in the not too distant past.

THEN:
In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. ... ...then they came for the Jews, And I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew... When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.

NOW:
In America. First they came for my fourth amendment rights then they came for my second amendment rights then they came for my first amendment rights and when I finally decided to speak up I had no right that afforded me to do so.

I was shocked when I renewed my passport (less than a year ago) at the absence of major biometric standards with a US passport.

What's funny and terrifying all at the same time is the number of idiots here who think that when such a time comes, they will be the ones to decide whether or not they are "law-abiding citizens with nothing to hide." That presupposes a government will abide by all the other rules of law and only ignore this one.

Today, George Bush spoke out in defense of the PRISM program and offers assurance that it is balanced and guarantees civil liberties.

On a related note, W's approval rating has increased substantially as of late and a Washington Post poll has him tied with Obama (whose approval rating continues moving in the opposite direction).

So you're saying that the U.S. Constitution and the checks and balances contained therein are flawed?

All you people with the tinfoil hats on, that are waiting for the US to turn into the next Nazi Germany because our govt is infringing on our rights, what do you folks think we all should do?

I for one have many more important things going on in my life than worrying about our govt turning on its people.

I honestly think you're just searching for troll bait, and that's cool.

Good luck.

It's more like the constitution is being rewritten in secret and behind our backs for the benefit of the few and suddenly it's nothing like we believed in.

If the constitution can be rewritten behind our backs, it's flawed. There are 3 branches of government that are supposed to guard against tyranny. Where did things fall apart?

When the patriot act was passed and later the spying on us all was undertaken without our consent or even being notified as to what our 'open government' was doing. They seen to figure we are all foreigners who can't be trusted as we must not have the best interests of the country in our hearts and can therefore proceed without our participation or advised consent..
