I had two classmates who gave the supreme sacrifice in that FUBAR debacle! (one 18, one 19)

Yes the sacrifice of heavily armed conscripts was much more important than the naked Vietnamese children running from their village with napalm burns.
Could u really be anymore stupid? Yes I'm using text speak that's all this all this place is worth now it is the dominion of right wing conservative nitwits arguing about how stupid u are!
I have been watching and reading! I could have more productive debates from homeless derelicts!
Seriously its a case of do I really want to interact with a fully aware human being who believes in none of the evidence of an afterlife and the actual evidence of global warming that we have caused?
Sorry! No! I will not! I refuse to enter into pointless debate with believers in psuedoscience, supernatural pipe dreams and bullshit they read on the internet.

Who are you arguing with, CN?
I'm not closed to the possibilities of a form of after-life or that humans have contributed to global warming.
But, if I disagree with you about something else, I think I could give you a run for your debate money. Maybe.
Still, admittedly, I'm probably not on par with a homeless derelict when it comes to argument. A lot of homeless are mentally ill or drug-addicted; they're most likely way more animated and entrenched in argument for argument's sake than am I. So, they kinda have an unfair advantage there. But, on the plus side, you can argue with me without having to sit curbside or in a back alley to do it.
Anyway, pick a worthwhile fight, disgruntled bad-ass. Let's see how superior you really are.
P.s. This will probably piss you off, but it's sincerely good to see you posting. Sue me.

I agree with that. Not sure about the rest of the hoopla that was in your post, however.

The rest of his post was just him babbling about how stupid we all are and that he REFUSES to interact with us retards, then 24 mins later, he starts a new thread to do exactly that.
The usual shit he always posts.

Well one thing he brought to attention is why are those young men's lives anymore important than those poor innocent children. There wouldn't be war if no one was brain washed and willing to do it.

Those "men" were just around 9 or 10 years "older children", then the younger ones in the pictures. Those older children (drafted) were sworn to uphold their duty to protect the interest of their country, as directed by their older superior officers. Many of those older children died performing that duty!
War is hell, all involved in war are victims.

Let's not forget how deadly some of those kids could be. Some of them were as murderous as the adults but no one ever wants to comment on that.
If y'all think I'm going to defend a bastard slant eyed kid over an American soldier, you've got another think coming.

Why is that there is still so much instant hate for the Viet Nam Vets?
It was and is still a national shame that those guys were treated so badly when they came home.
Most americans have no idea what an animal house most of the rest of the world is/was back then.
Most of those guys went over there as boys to serve their country and did it honorably, only to be ignored at best and violated at worst when they got back. There was a lot of bad shit happened over there, it was a fucking war! Shit happens.
There were of course some criminals, there always is.
The guys we sent over there are and were more important as they should be, because they were and are OURS.

I absolutely agree.
I can't answer why there are still hard feelings about that. I don't feel it & I don't know anyone who does.

I don't have a problem commenting on the "baby killing".
I have one fucked up uncle from this war and especially the way he was treated when he got home.
He's an alcoholic with 8 DUIs under his belt...a couple of tours in prison...driving his car under a semi and almost decapitating himself.
He's never discussed the war with anyone except one brief conversation with my mother. What little he had
to say about it led her to
believe he was one who had to kill those babies.
I guess I'd have to kill the kid running towards me with a bomb around his/her
neck before I let them kill me and all my buddies at once. What a horrifying decision to have to make, and then live with for the rest of your life.
Those little kids weren't slant-eyed evil bastards, they were human shields.

That was our soldiers reality & for them to be treated like crap when they returned home is despicable.

I think that might be even worse than the actual war in some ways.
I remember a few years ago something my uncle posted on FB on Veterans Day.
"They spit on us when we got back home"
No punctuation, no caps...kinda like the thought just popped out of his head and posted itself.

I have several uncles and a bunch of friends that went over there and had to do what they had to do. It left marks on all of them, some deal better than others. I have had many conversations with them about what happened. They run from more or less being able to talk about it, to needing it to be dark and get a few drinks in them before they can.
I have a lot of respect for all of them, they never got their memorial until 94 or something, 20 years after most of them came home.
I was proud to ride up front in the Rolling Thunder parade in the rain when it came to Dallas, years ago.

How the American soldiers in Vietnam were treated by some of the American public upon their return is deeply regrettable, in my opinion.
I was a kid when the US finally pulled out of Vietnam, but I remember clearly the news coverage, the discussions amongst my parents and uncles, the vibe on the streets...
I think the disdainful reaction towards Vietnam veterans was partly due to misplaced projection (from the politicians on to the returning soldiers, who were the most accessible and least appropriate targets) - stemming from the US government inserting itself in a a foreign civil war/conflict when many Americans doubted the true goal/benefit. But, it was also a sign of the changing times and would have occurred no matter where the war/conflict had taken place, IMO.
It was a time when freely protesting and speaking out against the government no longer meant that one would be branded unpatriotic in all circles, and a time when "giving peace a chance" was all a growing portion of the population was saying and thinking. Some of those protesting and speaking the loudest, however, were ignorant in blaming the soldiers for the politicians' war, and in equating the soldiers' commitment to serving our military to blood-thirstiness. Seems that most of those soldier-blamers have realized for some time how wrong that was; they should.
When my mom stayed with me earlier this year, we watched several old movies. We both love murder mystery/suspense flicks and she's never seen The Morning After - one that I like a lot. I plucked it off OnDemand and as soon as she saw Jane Fonda on the screen, she (who is generally as cool as they come) got kinda pissed. She "didn't want to look at Hanoi Jane's fucking face". Kinda took me aback how strongly she still felt about it, So, we watched "Play Misty for Me" instead (another really good oldie).
I guess some wounds never completely heal, mostly for those soldiers who fought, and also for those civilians who loved them (and/or appreciated their service and sacrfices).

I have to agree. I would not embrace death so willingly unless all was lost.
