He's been supposed or claimed dead by airstrikes in the past, but it's been confirmed that the piece of shit has really been killed at the hands of US Special Forces this time. Good.
Here's the reported summary/sequence of events
--Last month, Iraqi-Kurdish officials detained one of Baghdadi's many wives, a nephew and the wife of one of his trusted couriers.
--The information from that trio led them, it is understood, to an ISIS hideout in the desert of western Iraq, a bolthole that was to prove extremely valuable.
--Inside they found some of the ISIS leader's personal possessions, including the coordinates of his secret location, a non-descript house in a part of northwest Syria that was controlled by Al-Qaeda, an enemy of Baghdadi. The information was passed on to U.S. officials.
--Last night, what was labeled U.S. Operation Delta Force descended on the location using helicopter gunships and went into full force with a "capture or kill" order from President Trump.
--Baghdadi ended up detonating a suicide vest, killing himself and three of his children. Several of Baghdadi's staff and companions were also killed in the raid.

As Commander In Chief, President Trump deserves credit for green-lighting a successful mission by the U.S. military, in my opinion.
I wish he'd just take it graciously, but instead he again chose to try to one-up former President Obama and claimed the take out of Baghdadi was a bigger deal than Obama's take out of Osama Bin Laden.
I don't agree with Trump's contention; Bin Laden's Al-Qaeda killed thousands of more Americans than has Baghdadi's ISIS (and al-Qaeda did it on U.S. soil).
In any case, it's good that the founder/leader of ISIS is dead, though the terrorist group and its ideology will live on (just as Al-Qaeda has done following Bin Laden's death).
ISIS has already announced its new chief.

President Donald Trump said this morning that his administration is considering releasing video footage of the U.S. special operations raid that resulted in the death of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
“We're thinking about it. We may,” Trump told reporters on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews, en route to an event in Chicago. “We may take certain parts of it and release it, yes,” he said.
The president described his monitoring of the ISIS chief’s demise as being like 'watching a movie', though the overhead surveillance feeds he was viewing during the raid reportedly could not display what was happening in the underground tunnel where Baghdadi killed himself.
in his press conference, President Trump used vivid rhetoric that some critics deemed gratuitous. “He died like a coward. He was whimpering, screaming and crying,” Trump said, adding that Baghdadi and “the losers” under his command “were very frightened puppies.”

Trump’s disclosure of various sensitive details regarding the long-planned assault by Army Delta Force commandos also provoked alarm among veterans of previous operations who worry the president’s remarks could imperil future raids and intelligence gathering.
Personally, if there is video footage of Baghdadi blowing up himself and his children, I hope it doesn't get released to the public. I think releasing the video of disheveled Saddam Hussein's murder by U.S. forces did nothing but make the U.S. look like it was gloating and inflame his supporters (among them Baghdadi, who went on to form ISIS).
Does anyone think the kill video should be released, or just want to watch it?

Bush set up the timetable in 2008 to withdraw troops in 2011 he got a shoe thrown at him because of that announcement. When Obama took the troops out in 2011 it looked like a politically motivated stunt but it wasn't although many generals and much of the public wanted them to stay. I thought it was to soon and they should stay a bit longer Obama didn't even try and the troops left. A year later ISIS was back hacking and attacking. now they had Syria and much of Iraq to terrorize.

Dubya didn't get the shoe thrown at him because of the announcement but because of his war crimes and an illegitimate war that killed thousands of Iraqi civilians.
"This is for the widows and orphans and all those killed in Iraq," Al-Zaidi shouted as he threw the second shoe.
For fuck's sake, do you really think an Iraqi would be unhappy about the US leaving after the mess we made over there?

the shoe throwing happened when he was announcing the withdrawal schedule. Many people in Iraq were either on the oppressor side of the argument or the liberator side of it. Today the people in Iraq love Trump who could have figured that? His picture is everywhere.

Can I talk about the K-9 who helped in this mission in this thread? He cornered Baghdadi in one of the tunnels where he got trapped in a dead end. He was using three of his kids as human shields. Good dog! The dog's name & breed is classified right now but may be released at some point. A General said it's because he's "still in theater" and he's recovering from injuries he got when the suicide vest was activated.
As an aside, the dogs in the military are ranked higher than their handler in order to prevent mistreatment. I really liked hearing that and I hope it works.
No, I would not watch the kill video.

That's pretty cool.
It's really amazing how much dogs can do to assist law enforcement and military operations.
I hope he recovers quickly from his injuries and any associated trauma.

Given I don't feel like I can trust this administration to tell me the truth I can't help but wonder why Russia is saying they are not convinced this mission actually happened. Their Defense Ministry says it has valid doubts about the reality & success of it. They go on to say that no air strikes by US or coalition forces registered in the Idib de-escalation zone on Saturday or in recent days. Yesterday they referred to it all as propaganda and yet Russia was the very country/persons that trump thanked.

I remember that incident. The shoe throwing wasn't in response to any withdrawal schedule though, as far as I recall.
The Iraqi journalist instead threw his shoes at Bush because he was incensed that Bush, who was leaving office in like a month, was claiming that the U.S. invasion of Iraq had been a great success and such.
The journalist did not see it that way and got a lot of support from the people of Iraq for his shoe-throwing "farewell kiss" to George W. Bush. On trial, the journalist cited all the rapes and killings of Iraqis during the occupation. I think he got 2 or 3 years behind bars.
